Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Yep. Time for the west to get out.
Love that woman. Albertans are so fortunate.
Who do I have? Doug “we stand shoulder to shoulder with the Prime Minister” Ford.
You mean:
Doug “I rode the corpse of my brother into power” Ford?
“Love that woman. Albertans are so fortunate.

Hey, at least you have a guy who pretends to be somewhat conservative, sometimes. I have David Eby.
Well the regulation fascists are in charge in Ottawa…
And tipsy May, just called gun owners scum…
draw your own conclusions
It is all going to crash. World Wide. The remaining question is how hard, and for how long?

Well, if I’m not mistaken, Japan’s stock market is still below its 1989 high.

yes,. broken beyond repair.
Totally broken, totally not worth saving. Get out Alberta and Saskatchewan and watch the rest of the stinking shithole collapse. i’m in Nova Scotia, and yes, it is a stinking shithole.
I really really hate when politicians like her and Scott Moe blabber on about carbon neutral by 2050. This is utter nonsense and all their doing with that is negotiating the terms of their defeat. Once there is a technological advancement that can lower our emissions in a cost effective efficient manner then we can start the transition.
It’s called realpolitik. It keeps the lunatic left off balance.
By accepting the moronic, easily-disprovable anti-scientific lie of anthropogenic climate change, Smith lends credibility to the scam.
But she will most certainly capitulate without accomplishing anything, and then before you know it AB’s fake-conservatives will have blown another 4 years with nothing to show for it.
Again.
As planned.
Actually, I think her strategy is to keep the media somewhat at bay. The strategy gives time for people to wake up to just what a farce this climate change nonsense really is without following the lemming off the cliff.
broken?
depends what demographic.
broke? like we breached the trillion debt benchmark? yup !!
I’m so envious of Alberta.
They have a real leader.
Here in MB we have a socialist, domestic abusive, racist, scuff law in power and he has another 46 months before he’ll be have to call an election and be held accountable for his various and likely multitude of failures.
We’re unlucky enough to have a large percentage of takers vs workers so they’ll see nothing wrong with his policies so long as they get a cheque from the government every month. They’ll completely overlook that the cheque hasn’t gotten any larger as the cost of living skyrockets due to the policies of the province and of course, dear leader in Ottawa.
Manitoba is well and truly hooped for the foreseeable future.
Yes, Canada is broken. Trudeau’s government is like the proverbial bull in a china shop breaking everything Canadian’s value and the media is paid to praise the destruction.
It’s a good video by Smith. For too long, conservative premiers have let journalists define them by taking their quotes out of context, outright lying (cbc), lies of omission, etc. All to produce a narrative that Alberta, Saskatchewan and national CPC Conservatives are crazy hicks. Bypassing the traditional media and talking to people directly on social media shows an entirely different and better perspective than the one-sided, deceptively edited story creation in the news. She is calm, well spoken, rational and has a far better understanding of economics and voter’s concerns than Trudeau and his cabinet MPs. Pierre Poilievre’s two educational videos about economics were also well done.
You might notice that I often run whole paragraphs, sometimes who speeches, verbatim exactly for this reason.
Yes, you do, and that’s the way it should be done to be accurate and fair. Deceptive media and manipulated data or statistics has unfortunately become the norm in most news media.
When Danielle was campaigning in our small town I asked her how she was going to circumvent the MSM puppets in order to get her message out. Nothing forthcoming, but emphasized she knew what she was up against and would use MSM and find other ways to share with Albertans.
Apparently she has figured it out.
The only way I stay on this AB territory is if it finds a way to get out of Canada.
I agree. One way or another I’m getting out of Canada. Just taxes, taxes, taxes and getting treated like garbage by the rest of Canada if you live in Alberta or Saskatchewan.
I agree with what the Premier is saying here, however, there’s a widespread belief in AB that the federal #Libranos will be out of power soon enough, and the semi-sane Conservatives of Pierre Poilievre will return,
This will likely occur in short order, 1 or 2 years, but at some point after that, the #Libranos will return, voted in again by their perennial dependants in Atlantic Canada and Ont/Quebec.
Will the Premiers of AB/Sask. then be as strong willed as current Premiers Smith and Moe? what if… the future Premiers of AB/Sask. are weak willed? Will we again have to contend with the demented federal #Libranos foisting their ill thought out personal whims upon us for the federal gov’t to then spend western money on pet projects in other areas of the country?
I think yes.
Canada is broken and it’s time to break it up.
The time to separate from Old Canada is now.
After this, the #Libranos will be back. They were defeated by Mulroney and down to 40 seats in 1984, and 9 years later they returned with Jean Chretien with a majority gov’t.
The west can either resign itself to eating whatever crap the eastern #Libranos dish at us, or go their own way.
Canada is broken.
Yes. 100 times yes. The federal Liberals are basically a case of chronic clap. Just can’t kill it.
Well, I was with her until “Alberta has, and will, continue to invest billions in carbon capture …”.
Agreed. As a political animal, she operates within much of the media gatekeeper’s range of politically correct dogma, carbon capture being the coward’s way of agreeing to the premise of CO2-bad. When the choice is Smith or the NDP, plugging one’s nose a little and supporting the 90% good candidate is an obvious consideration.
I’d rather smell the real stench, and desire fresh air.
Then forget plugging our noses got us to this very place in time.
When government stinks like a full dead stock truck in the middle of a July afternoon.
Maybe you’ll see what I mean.
I would say 80 percent of the country has a clothes pin on their noses ,a blindfold, and their mouth gagged.
Pierre and Danielle (she may have more ba–s) would do well to remove all three from Canadians.
It shouldn’t be hard when the left is headed full Marxist.
Plugging your nose is just a band aid on another band aid.
I guess it’s something but ….. not much considering.
Was it ever in good working order? Doesn’t look it from where I’m sitting.
Forget the aims at “zero” or “neutral.”
Just say it.
We will continue to develop technologies that mitigate emissions, to the extent possible, but that is enough.
You can’t, and need not, pursue these objectives.
The benefits of energy far outweigh the (dubious) down sides.
OK, I will now turn up my central heating powered by the miracle of clean burning natural gas, grab a book, and enjoy this life as long as possible.
Screw the likes of Guilbeault, useless poncey pepsi that he is.
Have a nice day.
Long past the time to form the new super country of AlSask. It would be the most prosperous nation in the world bar none. Oil, natural gas, agriculture, potash, uranium, diamonds, rare earth minerals, mining, tourism, fresh water, research and development, technology, forestry, fishing………and on and on it goes. All with a population of just 6 million citizens. And no need to send all the generated wealth to welfare states out East. And before anyone drags out that tired old argument that it would never work because we are land locked wake up. There are many countries that are “land locked”. International law states every nation must have unfettered access to tide water. Full stop. The energy corridor to the coast would be the most productive section of land on the planet.
Not broke enough. Alberta and Sask needed to leave 40 years ago. To stay just shows we’re as stupid as the rest of Canada. We deserve every indignity we get from Ottawa.
Steven Guilbeault’s environmental policies have failed to prevent global warming and failed to prevent forest fires so he should be fired immediately.
Tell that to a liberal and see if they can simultaneously rebut that idea and still support his policies.
Liberal policies are basically virtue signalling, by people with no virtues.

2019. An Albertan of some repute on Alberta Independence; the mechanical, not the political:
Q: Federal debt & equalization?
A: We’ll be owed approx $490B at independence.
Q:Likelihood of repayment?
A: Zero in capital, but land-for-debt-relief deal means they cede us BC and we call it even.
Q: They’d never agree to that.
A: They won’t have much choice …
