The subterranean network encompassed blast doors, hideouts, and provisions such as food, water, and electrical infrastructure for sustained stays.

Of notable significance, the underground tunnel system facilitated the operational direction of Hamas by senior officials like Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar, Muhammad Deif, and others. Moreover, it served as a secured pathway for their daily movement within the heart of Gaza City.

Adjacent to these structures, Hamas had established a specialized workshop dedicated to the excavation and construction of the underground network. The workshop contained a tunnel shaft equipped with logistics and construction materials, including tunnel walls and concrete arches forming the tunnel ceilings. A 20-meter deep shaft, complete with descending spiral stairs, blast doors, and tunnel bifurcations, was also discovered. The tunnel shaft was intentionally demolished by explosives placed by Hamas, and various weapons and technological devices were found in close proximity.

          1. So let’s examine what I believe and why I believe it. I was raised in a dispensationalist church with rabid support for Israel. (Israel becoming a nation meant the end of the world was coming soon.) However I began to study that bit of nonsense and gradually tossed out the heresy of Darby and Scofield. I then began to read my Bible and found out that the Palestinians were the first in the land as Abraham actually purchased some land from a Palestinian so he could bury his dead wife Sarah. Two strikes against my previous “Israel is God’s chosen and their right to return”. Then I began to read Christian accounts of how Palestine has more Christians by percentage than does Israel. So this is no longer a conflict between Judaism and Islam. This is a war over land and nothing more. Then I began to look at Orthodox Judaism and found out that they do not believe in a political Israel. They believe in an Israel that is re-established by the Messiah when He comes. Strike three. However I am fundamentally a freedom loving person. I believe in the rights of humans to make their own way in life. If Alberta wants to leave Canada then Alberta has the right to leave Canada. Ontario does not have the right to invade Alberta to keep it a vassal state. Thus I believe that the Palestinian people have a right to self determination. I do not believe Israel has the right to keep the Palestinians, as they do now, in a concentration camp. Sadly many people on threads like this one are what I once was. An Israeli lap dog that has the idea that Israel can do no wrong and the Palestinians can do no right. A closer examination and a step back from that abys shows that there is evil on both sides and Jews are not God’s chosen people.     In these parts, in mining parlance. a “shaft” is a vertical feature.

    Horizontal (ish) tunnels / workings are “drives” or “galleries” depending on characteristics and local jargon.

  7. The people who are cheering Israel on don’t appear to be aware of the Al Awda massacre, nor the killing of the 3 white flag waving Israeli hostages, nor the IDF sniper murder of the 2 Christian women outside Holy Family Parish. These are the actions of an undisciplined army.

    The late Colonel Pat Lang said as much on his website a few years back. He was a former US Army Intelligence liason to the IDF and still had contacts in IDF intelligence. He was commenting on reports at the time of the IDF sniping civilians on the other side of of the Gaza fence and how this was going unpunished.
