  1. Toronto and NY were also trying to snag Ohtani… he really is all that and a bag of chips. He already resides in SoCal and considers that “home” so I’m thinking that had more to do with his decision than SanFran’s urban woes. Even if he thinks SanFrancisco is a sh*t hole, he’s too much of a gentleman to come out and say it.
If MLB is “The Big Show”…playing for the Dodgers or Yankees is considered the very pinnacle of talent showcasing.
Smart decision on his part I’d say. I’m trying to wrap my head around whether anyone’s worth 70M/year.

  2. Los Angeles has a huge homeless problem, almost as bad as Frisco. But LA is ruthless enough to keep the crazy and drug addicted homeless people out of the good neighborhoods (so far).

They may hypocritically mouth the same woke BS as San Franciscans, but most of the people who really control LA and its politicians know woke platitudes are just a means of controlling the lower classes, especially guilty upper middle class white liberal women.

  3. Would anyone sign a $700 million contract to live in San Francisco? I’d certainly check with Kenji before doing so.

      1. A $700M contract guarantees he’d be able to buy a starter home in Silicon Valley … a nice 2bed, 1ba untouched 1940’s era home in San Mateo maybe … because of the high interest rates … the average price for this kind of home has dropped to $7.5M

  4. How is it though?

They keep voting for the same corrupt people.
They keep voting for severely impaired Biden.
They keep voting for the idiot and the convict here.

And they will more likely than not vote for the same low life corrupt set.

    What the hell is it?
    How, Why

    1. Have you never known anyone who was said to be a genius, but was functionally useless? There’s a whole state on the left coast where cities are filled with them.

    2. A friend’s wife is not a citizen but showed up as voting by mail. She did not vote. Two of his friends moved to West Point, NY months before the election and yey still showed up as mail in voters. No, they did not vote in California. I wonder how many actually vote Democrat?

  5. His contract is that he will be paid $2million a year for the next 10yrs and then differ the rest.
Starting in 2034 he will be 39 years old — and going until 2043, Ohtani will receive $68 million per year. He will be well retired by 2034 and probably moved back to Japan and therefore not have to pay California taxes on the bulk of that huge contract.

  6. Different but similar, Washington D.C. just lost the Caps and the Wizards whos’ owner is planning to build a new arena across the river in Alexandria VA. The Capital One Arena isn’t that old yet but drugs and crime are what D.C. stands for, so… they’re out.
