Today’s NP Comment Prize for Political Courage must surely go to B.C. Liberal MP Ken Hardie. On Monday morning, as the news wires hummed with news of a dreadful shooting in Winnipeg, Hardie expressed anguish on Twitter and indulged himself in a little speculation about the ultimate culprit…
More bad acting.
This week’s Nanos poll modelled.

Since Ukraine is losing (has lost) this war, will he sit TF down? And STFU?
Who’s stupider—> A low IQ psychopath who wore blackface too many times to remember or the “good folks” who voted for him THREE times?
Tough question!
The parasites that keep voting Lieberal.
Send Teddy bears and blankets, Joostaihn. With bilingual labels and subject to carbon taxes, of course.
We know you’d send troops but they’re all on standby in the event of another truck convoy.
Ukraine made three big mistakes. First, it forgot its neighbour is Russia (the total opposite of the Canada/USA dynamic), which is more powerful than it by a factor of 50 (or more), has its own heavy industry and its own defence research establishment–none of which exists in Ukraine. Second, it put its trust in the US (read history from Vietnam to Afghanistan) and NATO (FFS these are European countries and Canada which are renowned for forsaking military expenditure and making social welfare “investments” instead). Third, it picked a fight that it could NEVER win. You can’t keep poking the Bear and not expect it to react violently (shelling populations of Russian descent for years, enacting laws that put people of Russian descent and speak the Russian language as second-class citizens and taking away their rights). If Ukraine had just remained neutral like Austria did during the Cold War, which the Soviets, surprisingly honoured, the Russians would have left them alone. However, the lure of free “dirty” money for its politicians, businessmen and bureaucrats was a temptation that led to the deaths or maiming of 1M+ of its young men–and now women. Russia, unlike the USA or Canada, is not led, administered or inhabited by people who hate their country.
Don’t forget trying to join NATO, an act that Putin guaranteed would be a no go for Russia virtually daring him to invade.
@favil: NO.
1. Russia’s heavy industry may exist but it’s a joke compared with what US has.
2. Despite what msmedia says, US military did win in Vietnam. And overall, US Army is still the best by a wide margin.
3. It wasn’t about ‘poking the bear’, Russia invaded. Like they always do btw.
4. No, Russia is administered by people who hate their own, just like US and Canada actually.
DanC
Just how stupid are you? Putin sent a letter to the USA state/wh, laying out conditions that needed to be in affect to avoid the special operation, and that request alined with the Minsk accord. The USA and Britain rejected that demand. Also NATO SG Stoltenberg has said twice now that they, NATO, have been at war with Russia since 2014. Try setting your emotional BULLSCHIFF aside and availing your self of the pertinent facts.
@GYM Let’s be civil, ok? It’s nothing ’emotional’, I came here from East Europe and I KNOW how Russia/USSR behaved with ALL nearby countries. I heard from grandfathers and fathers who dealt with Soviet military, and believe me, in all of Eastern Europe “Russians are coming” is perceived as a very bad thing.
@DanC – “I KNOW how Russia/USSR behaved with ALL nearby countries….who dealt with Soviet military,”
Do you or they still say the same things about Germany?
“2. Despite what msmedia says, US military did win in Vietnam. And overall, US Army is still the best by a wide margin.”
That much we can agree on.
“3. It wasn’t about ‘poking the bear’, Russia invaded. Like they always do btw.”
The US should never have gotten involved in overthrowing the democratically elected Ukrainian government in 2014 (and never should have started talking about Ukraine entering NATO, either) and Ukraine should have kept its promise to allow separation referendums rather than attacking and killing their own people. BTW, 40% of Ukrainians speak Russian.
Putin may be an evil bastard, sure, but no one can call this invasion unprovoked. The US could have stopped it before it even started with a simple statement of fact (that Ukraine does not qualify for NATO entry), but Joe Biden refused.
I’m not sure what Ukraine did, as opposed to what the government the US installed in Ukraine did. I think poking the Bear until it got fed up was part of the plan, you know, to “weaken Russia” – Ukraine be dammed. A few Ukrainians certainly made bank, and they better hide now. Yuge money laudering opportunity for all, shot in the arm for US defense industry. Points taken though, many countries have regretted having the US as an ally, whether it was voluntary or forced. People should have had the measure of NATO when looking at its ineptitude and lack of will in Afghanistan. Just a quick read of the NATO web site is educational as to what it thinks its purpose is (and failing at it). Not sure what to think of Trudeau ranting and yelling like a little dictator, reminds me of these little yappy dogs that bark when you walk by. Canada doesn’t scare anybody.
“Canada doesn’t scare anybody.”
Not that Canada was ever “scary” but it once held global respect.
Canada’s global credibility and respect has since 2015 gone from Stephan Harper winning “World Statesman of the Year” to absolute laughing stock. Those who are not laughing are pointing to Canada as an overpriced Neo-globalist dictatorship.
“Stephen Harper accepts World Statesman of the Year award”

Canadian Army (mostly farm boys) scared the hell out of anyone it was sent up against during WWII. Subsequent Liberal governments have done all possible to weaken and humiliate the Canadian Forces.
Learn your Canadian history.
The problem isn’t with the troop quality or can-do attitude. That only gets you so far. Equipment, infrastructure and top leadership are in the dumps. Canada can only go so far running on the fumes of what was accomplished in WW1 and WW2.
Paul:
A quote from your earlier comment,
“Not that Canada was ever “scary” but it once held global respect.”
I responded to your use of the past tense.
I agree with your subsequent amplification.
@robateythree
Yea, I’m pretty sure we are discussing apples and oranges here.
My reference was not about a squad or battalion of soldiers rushing an entrenchment but was about overall National global identity throughout it’s history, prior to 2015.
Canada scares me.
(Because I live in Canada.)
Yes, in the same way Wellington said that he didn’t know what effect his Generals had on the enemy, but that they scared the hell out of him.
They also forgot history.
This mid-bencher Liberal MP, Ken Hardie, apparently spent his entire pre-2013 working career in radio, public relations and communication. Ooops. I guess logic is not his strong trait and he does not seem to be on the Liberal Party A or B-list.
That riding could go conservative with the right candidate. Ken may be worried about his post-retirement prospects.
Ken Hardie eh…a nobody.
Spewing the typical Progressive Left Rant while characterizing Pierre as FAR RIGHT – MAGA – Trump Style as per the Head of the “National Socialist Canadian Workers” Party HQ, the PMO.
“Far Right” these days seems to be anything 5mm or further away from Karl Marx.
The Libs are in deep shit….Easily shown via the visible angst in their twitter posts and the MSM. However, knowing this totally unstable punk in the PMO, I have serious doubts as to Canada ever seeing a fair Election ever again.

“National Socialist Canadian Workers”
There is only one Canadian Socialist Worker’s party (historically), and it’s called the NDP.
I say they should rename the Liberal Party.
Canadian Ultra National Trudeau Socialists. That has a nice ring to it.
I’m good with that. As an alternative, I was thinking Socialism Hypocrisy Incest and Theft
You can repeat that again.
Are voters so uninformed that they actually listen to the (oxymoron) honest politician. The leader of the NDP trying to gain votes said it would curb inflation ie; raising food cost while at the same time backing the minority Liberals who are the main cause of inflation/higher food costs?
Just asking for a friend.
“Might it be the anti-social ‘burn everything down’ far-right attitude we’re seeing creeping in from the US?” – Ken Hardie
What a complete idiot!
The only ideology that has “creeped” into Canada over the last 40 years is the far-left Globalist ideology. Normal people stood by and let it happen, but now they actually see the forest through the trees, and are now finally speaking up a little. A crime beyond all measure according to the Globalist Liberal establishment.
Also, no mention of BLM and the 2020 riots creeping up from the US, or the massive protests associated with known terrorist organizations today. Meanwhile imposing martial law & militarized police actions on peaceful Canadian taxpayers protesting harmful decree’s by a proven unethical PM is considered perfectly acceptable.
Burn everything down? No, no. Just Liberals and everything they love.
Its a Nanos poll, so always expect spin. While the YUGE CPC majority model follows other polling shown on 338, this poll shows the Endies with a strong showing. This differs greatly from all other polls, where they are shown as largely unchanged in terms of seat count from current.
Is this designed to scare Liberals that the Endies could do better? Can one imagine the swelling of Jughead’s ego if such a result should happen? Yeah, he would still/always be in opposition, and could be ignored, but the chattering class would have a new hero.
Anyways, we are all waiting for a turfing of Blackie McHitler of epic proportions. These miscreants still have a little less than 2 years to bribe their people, and, have the media go full TASS/PRAVDA for their Master.
On many occassions, Hardy has accused the Conservatives of “rage farming.” Yet that is precisely what he is doing here.
“Burn Everything Down” is a left-wingnut/socialist/communist mantra, to destroy western Christian nations.
Stupid LIEberal Hardie can’t even get left/right straight.
The Hardie idiot is, after all, MP in the riding where the terrorist Atpal used to be Liberal Party riding president. He lives in a sea of cheaters, terrorists and their sympathizers, and frauds. No surprise here.
“Honest Politicians”?
As in; When they are bought, they STAY BOUGHT?
That is the usual way to identify them.
