Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

You lie!
Global warming says the Oceans have rising to record levels…by government sponsored data.
+++Jojo. If the canal has water flowing through it then why does the water not rise when locks are opened? It will rain next year.
Until we kill “The Big Lie” of Athropogenic Climate Change !!!! Nothing will happen unfortunately in LNG plants , Drilling, and PipeLines! We have to reverse this NOW!
Exactly, and that’s why I find it depressing that PP and his CPC still believe in man-made “climate change”.
I don’t vote for this garbage.
Had a robot call from CPC a few days ago. They were having a “rally??”in Duncan B.C. on Monday PM.
Their rallying point was “axe the tax” a worn out slogan of the NDP.
These are the same A**holes that will not stop the Billions of graft to MSM.
My vote? LOL. In this case “lots of luck” not “left of Lennon”. Although that probably also applies.
The answer is “government interference”, it’s always “government interference” that often gets mistaken for “bad luck”
In doing further reading on this topic it seems that the longer that LNG ships sit waiting to transit the canal the more cargo they lose because of “boil off” due to the hot tropical sun. Some LNG shippers pay premiums of $4 million to be able to jump the queue and get thru the canal faster.
There have been droughts in Panama before. Hopefully a few tropical storms will help refill the lakes.
I think a big part of the problem is they built an entire SECOND larger Panama Canal a few years ago and the two canals use more than twice the water of the original canal alone.
A couple of modular nuke plants with desalination facilities on both coasts should fix the problem. As for Cdn LNG exports? I actually met with OGC’s head back in 2013 when there was roughly 15 to 18 proposed projects. I vaguely remember that he thought 6 projects seemed to have decent enough potential with something possibly operational by 2018. Of course PM Harper was tossed and the NDP took over B.C. so no surprise NOT ONE ever got approved. Politics matter tremendously. No doubt that U.S. LNG interests were highly motivated to do whatever they could to kill Cdn LNG on the vine. That’s exactly what I think happened.
I don’t at all understand why the canal does not use sea water. Putin must love this.
When the canal was built, there were no massive pumps to lift that much seawater to the altitudes necessary. The ships are raised a total of 85 feet to get them over the hump of the isthmus. The water comes from several large lakes in an area that gets a lot of rain, and with a little drought, they’ve run short. It takes around 200 million litres of water to raise one ship. Lowering the ships just involves releasing the water to lower altitudes.
Seawater would change the whole environment there, killing off fish and trees and just about everything else in Gatun Lake. That lake is part of the waterway.
Thank you for the enlightenment, sir!
Thanks Dan.
