Yes – Why in hell would any woman ever participate in this stupidity? They deserve exactly what they get.
In the US, it’s because the women wanted access to the athletic scholarships and so used Title IX to force US universities to defund popular men’s athletic programs and fund women’s athletic programs no one cares about.
If a high school girl has even a modicum of athletic ability, applying to university on an athletic scholarship for some niche sport no one watches is a great way to pay for tuition. The scholarships have to be given out, and there’s very little competition.
