Y2Kyoto: I’ll Miss The Poley Bears

Susan Crockford;

Last December, researchers vigorously promoted a possible 27% decline in Western Hudson Bay (WH) polar bear abundance but kept hidden the fact that adjacent Southern Hudson Bay (SH) numbers increased by 30% over the same period.

And surprise, surprise: the bombshell SH results call into question everything the ‘experts’ have been saying about polar bears in Hudson Bay for years.

I finally got a copy of the 2021 WH survey report from the Nunavut government, which was reported on by the media around the world in December 2022. The Nunavut government also sent along a copy of the 2021 SH report (helpfully asking, “would you also like the SH report?”), published at virtually the same time. The existence of a SH report was never mentioned by any of the media articles in December, even though it was referenced several times in the WH report, which suggests reporters never actually saw the WH report but were simply given a press release with approved talking points.

Go bump her tweet with a repost, if you’re so inclined.

      1. Remember that we are dealing with a generation that has grown up with the indoctrinated brain power of a gnat.

I saw a YouTube video where the interviewer asked random “university” students questions about math and history.

Questions such as when was the War of 1812 ? Answer: 1827

Who attacked Pearl Harbour ? Answer: The Russians

Who did the Americans fight in the American Civil War ? Answer: France

And many more. It’s hilarious but more importantly it’s seriously sad and frightening.

These “graduates” are now the ones investagating and collecting “data” that is being published and then being eaten up by other unsuspecting mental midgets in the broader society.

No wonder there is a strong belief that the Poley Bears are in decline.

  1. But, but, but … Susan Crockford is in the pockets of Big Oil! I saw a “Just Stop Oil” poster that said so !!
    Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh Mommmaaaaaaaaaaaa

  2. “reporters never actually saw the WH report but were simply given a press release with approved talking points”

    Well…yeah? Who doesn’t know this?

Step 1: fire all the old guys who might know basic math
Step 3: hire recent liberal arts grads who last took (not even passed) a math class in 10th grade
Step 7: give them titles such as “senior science writer” who report to a 30 year old “senior science editor”
Step 7: have them re-type press releases from Big Green for clickbait
Step 44: print a small “editor’s note” on page 521
Step Nth: fire all the humans and have AI write everything

Note: Step 44 is optional. As in…never.

Can’t be sure we haven’t already seen Step Nth and not realized it, at least for listicles. Have you read one lately?

    1. I read an article today which may have been created by AI, claiming that if you have an automatic transmission, you shouldn’t run your car close to empty, because the additional gas pressure helps protect the transmission…

now, I don’t know about their car, but mine doesn’t need gas to “protect the transmission” it has transmission fluid for that.

      1. I love estimating the fuel range left by using the average fuel consumption, the fuel gauge level and the gas tank size when the “gas gauge” says EMPTY.
The wife looks at me in a blank stare.

    1. Who was here first, polar bears or indigenous? I think indigenous stole polar bear land! Polar bears are white! Racist!

      1. You have a point, steve.

I think the polar bears are preparing a demand that everyone get the @#!& off their land or else pay them reparations. Seal meat, in lieu of cash is acceptable, according to the Polar Bear King.

It is going to take lots and lots of seal meat. The polar bears will let us know when we are all settled up.

  3. The remarkable recovery of polar bear populations over the last few decades is a great conservation success story that runs counter to the predictions of the “experts.” Estimates vary, but the increase is from 5-10 thousand to around 30,000 in a few decades. A cause for celebration!

But good news is not permitted in the media.

When did you last hear anything about polar bears in the Toronto Star or the CBC?

  4. I bet polar bears fear being shot by humans more than global warming but I’m not going to ask.
