      1. For some people this is absolutely the rational move. Some people have genetics that are way bad. Some others need to have their ovaries out too because they are highly prone to cancer.

        1. My own wife had the procedure done … but it wasn’t for the BRCA gene (although she was tested for that) … but her oncologist detected pre cancers and her mother died of breast cancer along with her grandmother. So, yes… there are times and places for the procedure. But it has caught on in the culture … and women have become far too casual in lopping off their breasts … my wife has a couple of friends who did it … just because.

          Should I cut out my Prostate gland because it could become cancerous? My liver? Should I strip out my lymph system to prevent Hodgkins? You know … I’ve had several friends who have just died of brain cancer … how about I start slicing and dicing my brain (insert joke here)

      1. They make quite the point in the article that these numbers are very much not available past 2018, due to people in power refusing to provide them.

        They could easily be up to several thousand by now, and that’s just the girls.

    I have to say that I’m a bit surprised that this is not in today’s listing. This is a big deal when doubled up with the historic behavior of your current administration. Do you really want your government to be able to label you based on your viewership preferences? The same government that has no problem confiscating bank accounts? This is just a small baby step away from applying the same “monitoring” on blogs and websites with the expected repercussions.

      You’ve got to be kidding. They’ve been doing that since the 1990s. Why do you think the cellphone service is configured the way it is? Your phone pings the towers and they triangulate its position. And record it. Dozens of times an hour.

      It doesn’t -have- to be done that way, there are other methods that would be better/cheaper/faster. But this way the government (and the phone company) tracks every phone 25/7. So convenient.

      All they’ve done here is make it “legal.” They do it anyway, and always have. Difference being that now they can use it to bully us.
