We Are All Treaty People

With work-from-home laptops and fat federal pensions;

In 2015, the Public Accounts showed that the department of Indian Affairs and the department of Health Services for First Nations and Inuit together cost $10.3 billion.

In 2017, the federal government reorganized these services and created two new departments, Crown-Indigenous Relations and Indigenous Services. The total spending on these two departments last year amounted to $23.3 billion. […]

Conservative MP Gary Vidal (Desnethé-Missinippi, SK) calculated the number of federal employees working on indigenous matters grew from 4,500 to “about 9,200 for the coming fiscal year” with little evidence that federal services were twice as effective.

No one knows why conditions aren’t improving.

Some of the benefits of working here are the cultural supports that are provided by places like the Kumik Elders Lodge where we get to have traditional knowledge brought back into here. It’s a place I can kind of go and decompress. It’s also the benefit of being able to contribute my voice to things like the Indigenous Advisory Circle that I sit on for the Communications Branch, so there are opportunities to bring traditional knowledge from myself and my own voice too, into the department. There’s never the same day twice, and I get to spread my wings on lots of different kinds of projects. Like this.

  1. If the Canadian population of 1,807,250 for indigenous peoples is correct, the government is now spending annually $12,892.52 per person.

    These people are insane.

  2. I am so sick of Indians at the trough.

No wonder our taxes are through the roof.

    1. The Department of Indian and Northern Affairs should have been disbanded back in the late 1960’s when Jean Chretien was its Minister. But of course he used it as a springboard for his leadership of the federal Liberal party later in the early 1990’s.
Having worked as a summer relief secretary during the early 1970’s while in Ottawa, I can attest to the fact that at least 50% of the federal civil servants are useless – and that is for ALL departments.

    2. J

      Its an INDUSTRY
Designed to rape the country of cash & provide all indigenous with a 65″ wide screen and a Denali parked outside.

      1. Defacto reparations … although the vast majority of Natives will never see a dime of the largesse.

  3. peaceful places are being created so that those that visit them can laugh at the suckers that go to work and pay for a life of luxury, late mornings, later evenings and just showing up whenever you feel like it because it’s your culture and YOU’RE RACIST if you have a problem with that.
meanwhile, the indian leaders are literally laughing at being given monies that they never even asked for….how much are canada’s debt and interest payments again??

  4. “I would suggest truth and reconciliation begins with accepting the truth.”

No, it begins with forgiveness and since the Indigenous will never forgive whitey there will never be adequate reconciliation. It will always be the goose that laid the financial golden egg…IMHO.

Interesting that their budget almost equates to Defense.

  5. Has anyone heard a definition of “reconciliation” that is something other than the equivalent of a divorce negotiation that never ends? Anyone that still believes that governments can accomplish anything good need only look at Indian Affairs to be dissuaded. Politicians and their deranged and partisan judiciary have not only failed to normalize relations but instead have exacerbated the problems. The goal should be to legally assimilate those racially defined as Indians under the Indian Act and then eliminate the Act. Ideally it would involve the transfer of land (or cash) in fee simple status to every individual proportionate to DNA (no more 1/16 racial purity for 100% of racial “benefits”) in exchange for retirement of all treaties and Indian Act or other racially-defined benefits. If groups of Indians wish to return to communist tribal ghettos under their Chiefs, they are free to do so with their own resources. The rest of the Indian industry including the 9000 bureaucrats should be liberated to learn to code.

    1. My decidedly white-looking grandsons are technically and administratively 50% Indigenous … and Universal citizens of North America (they can travel anywhere they want in the US and Canada) … so they will get ALL the benefits offered by the Canadian Govt. including FREE college.

      It’s a total scam.

  6. // If the Canadian population of 1,807,250 for indigenous peoples is correct, the government is now spending annually $12,892.52 per person. //

If the total budget figure for all Canadians is correct, the government will spend in 2023 about $12 000 per capita.

  7. Liberals will never end the Canadian Apartheid System.
It fills too many of their needs.

First it is an unending means of stealing from the taxpayers.

Second it provides “jobs” for their supporters.Thousands of “civil service” positions.

Third it perpetuates the Slimey soft racism by which Liberals “Lord it over” every person who’s skin is not pink.(These poor “lesser persons” need the help and husbanding provided by their intellectual superiors),or so the Liberals keep telling us.

Any country that deems one group of citizens more worthy than all others, hates that group and is actively seeking their destruction..
Yet our Indians reliably vote Liberal..Or so the media tells us.

  8. People use to think I was nuts when I complained about the bill for indians being 10 billion a year.
