Jonathan Turley: The blackout on Biden corruption is truly ‘Pulitzer-level stuff’
This week, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) tried to do the impossible. After he and his colleagues presented a labyrinth of LLC shell companies and accounts used to funnel as much as $10 million to Biden family members, Donalds tried to induce the press to show some interest in the massive corruption scandal. “For those in the press, this easy pickings & Pulitzer-level stuff right here,” he pleaded.
The response was virtually immediate. Despite showing nine Biden family members allegedly receiving funds from corrupt figures in Romania, China and other countries, The New Republic quickly ran a story headlined “Republicans Finally Admit They Have No Incriminating Evidence on Joe Biden.”
For many of us, it was otherworldly. A decade ago, when then-Vice President Joe Biden was denouncing corruption in Romania and Ukraine and promising action by the United States, massive payments were flowing to his son Hunter Biden and a variety of family members, including Biden grandchildren.
However much you hate them, it’s not enough.
Surreal, isn’t it? I feel like I’ve been transported through time to Soviet Russia. They lie, we know they lie, they know we know, and yet they just keep right on.
Almost as if a foreign nation were paying for all this…
It has more to do with the “landing.” What I mean is that for a media type to truly dig on this rather obvious corruption, they must assume that they will become persona non-grata. The reason for this is that (and as Al Gore was fond of saying) there is no controlling legal authority. The Department of Justice is hopelessly compromised. That scenario is what allows all the symptomatic corruption without repercussions. Instead, repercussions are applied to those who don’t tow the line forcing the media (many of whom do so voluntarily due to their ideology) to be indifference, obfuscate and outright dishonest. If they don’t, they feel the wrath from those providing their marching orders (which is pushed on down from the highest level of media corporate).
The big question is this. “Will there EVER be a quality president who will do what is necessary?” That being the total deconstruction of the DOJ and mass removal of ideologues across the board within its confines and replaced with quality personnel. Unfortunately, by controlling the DOJ, those ideologues, also, control the elections. As it stands now, it is impossible for the White House to be occupied by anyone who will do what is necessary. Someone could receive every single vote in a general election, and not get seated as it stands now.
In stark contrast to the zeal with which Woodward and Bernstein went after Nixon.

If you look really hard, there is a sunny side to this.
In spite of the media boycott of this story somehow the voters get information. Rasmussen ran a poll of likely U.S. voters and found out that 69% of likely voters found the Biden crime family scandal “very serious (52%)” or “serious (17%).” This included 49% of the Democrats.
The “Not sure” category was a very low 6%. This shows that sources other than the mainstream media are reaching the voters.
That is good news. Let’s hope this holds true for a myriad of other issues that the media is lying about ( eg. safe and effective) or trying to downplay. In Canada, the media has pretty much ignored the NCI hearings. It is shameful for an industry that calls itself ” the free press.
Better, 47% (I think it was) said Trump deserved to be in jail – but 18% of them said they were going to vote for him anyways. Now if that ain’t kafkaesque, I don’t know what is!

Unfortunately, PJ, it won’t matter. What matters is who counts the votes, and what rules they use to do so. The filing in AZ that some voters can get 19″ paper ballots and other voting stations can get 20″ paper ballots (scanners were tested on 19″) and that’s OK unless the aggrieved party can prove that it was malice and not careless stupidity that caused the error.
With that legal precedent in place, kiss honest elections goodbye in the US.
