    1. Many major league baseball parks have shortened their fences to facilitate the homerun. So, no, climate change doesn’t have anything to do with NYY slugger Aaron Judge breaking the homerun record. A short porch in right field is the culprit.

      1. As is a behemoth of a player. Judge is a giant, though a late bloomer.
Many factors come into play, these, and the manufacture of the ball also contributes to HR rates.
        Height of the seams.
        Tension of the seams.
Tension of the wind of the inner core.
        The core type material.
        Climate Change? Bah!

    1. And the Biden administration encourages her, and all the Trans-monsters to fight. Because violence committed by the mentally ill is to be encouraged.

    1. Why don’t they just demand $40,000/hour and be done with it, DB? Work two hours and take the rest of the year off.

Oh, wait… I think I see a problem. The menu prices would have go up… a lot. No customers, no job, no pay. They’d make $0.00/hr.

On the bright side (there’s always a bright side) they could have the year off without even working two hours. I’m told there will be millions of hunter/gatherer and dumpster diver job openings. I’m not sure how much they can demand per hour for those jobs.

Oh, wait… I think dumpsters will be empty because no restaurants will be in business.

      Sheesh! Commienomics© is hard.

      1. Already seeing that. After being banished from restaurants in BC because PUREBLOOD, we were very slow to return in any way to restaurants.
We still frequent a couple of small eateries that haven’t joined in with high prices.
As for the rest, prices are up 25 to 30 percent easy. Dinners for 2 running to over $70 instead of $50. So, we’re done except the rarest of occasions.
We can eat like a king and queen at home for half the price, and a better meal.
There’s no shortage of sheep that can’t cook KD or a can of soup, that continue to buy all their overpriced meals.

    1. DB, there was never waning immunity as immunity was never possible. The shots could not, cannot, confer any immunity what so ever. Anyone who did not get sick simply were not exposed to a pathogen that would make them sick. That sir is the the truth and so far I have read nor seen anything that alters that.

      1. V, I just hope at the end of this road there is comeuppance for the bastards. All of ’em.

  1. And as a postscript… way back in 1973 … while I was a Junior in HS … my Foster Brother came home for Christmas vacation from Jamaica where he and his wife were running a Pig CoOp with The Peace Corps … and he brought THIS lp with him …

He taught me about the sensation Jimmy Cliff was in Jamaica. I hadn’t even heard of Bob Marley, when I first listened to Jimmy Cliff … and I was smitten. The man was raw emotion. His songs spoke of the struggle. He was authentic. Real. And I dug the beat.

      1. Have a look at the Trojan Records back catalogue a late sixties early seventies British record label,it was very popular with the British skinhead scene back then.

        1. I found a multi-disc compilation at the library. “From Dub Plate to Download” – basically decades of music from the one track studios in Jamaica to the scene in England years with the mixture of punk and reggae, blue beat, two tone, ska and other genres which i can’t quite identify.
Lots of great tunes from people nobody ever heard from.

      2. Nold- that is maybe my favourite reggae song. Bob Marley had a lot of great times too though.

      3. Jimmy Cliff and Desmond Dekker are ska, surely. (In the Reggae family, sure.) More great ska: Pressure Drop by Toots and the Maytals.

    1. Wow … my previous post was scrubbed. Surely Robert wouldn’t have done that? Or was I being sacrilegious by suggesting the WHITE Brits reinterpreted and perfected reggae through SKA? Just as the Brits perfected black American Blues and R&B … they perfected reggae. OK … not perfected, but reinterpreted it through the lens of British rock. Whatever … they made reggae GREAT! Case in point:

      1. I watched them live a couple of times plus the Specials,Bad Manners,UB40,Selector the list goes on,coming just after punk the live music scene in the UK back then was awesome.

        1. I envy you that … sounds amazing. I had (still have) an architect-friend who dragged this old rocker into punk, new wave, ska, and the alternative music world. And … he even has a larger vinyl collection than I do … although it’s all CRAP vinyl produced in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s 🙂 … I thank him for my musical evolution. Then my kids took me a bit further.

I believe he says that The Clash are the only band that have ever mattered.

          1. “I believe he says that The Clash are the only band that have ever mattered.”

He sounds like a genuine enthusiast. I think I can forgive his views on The Clash. I like ’em, but that tag line is ridiculous.

        1. The system seems to kick out the least controversial posts and hold them for moderation, which not once in recorded history has ever come. It only seems to happen if someone has spent considerable time and thought creating them.

      2. The Brits didn’t perfect anything. They ‘discovered’ the blues and were knocked out by it.

White boys lost in the blues. If you’ve listened to enough of it you can tell if the soloist is white or black. The white boys have technique. The black brothers have soul.

The same is true for reggae.

        1. Like this, for example, ever see a happier group? Stones and Muddy, looks remastered:

Happy Easter Abtrapperdude missed you @ Christmas. I always read your stuff.

P.S. Since you’re talking baseball today, story for you: my neighbor has a full baseball scholarship to a college in the States, he might qualify for MLB. I know him since he’s two years old and what a size he’s become and what a pitching arm! Saw a CCTV game the other day, on Friday, these guys can play. They went into O.T. and lost 1-0 after 12 (or 13)innings! What a game! I received a signed baseball enclosed in a special case last year, kept teasing him all these years for it in case he was too busy later as a MLB star. He’ll have a business degree to boot. Kid knows he’s lucky.

          1. NR

Happy Easter to you as well.

I love baseball and nice to see a Canadian have a shot.

McCartney called the Stones a blues band. It’s not too far off and no slight.

Lyle Lovett has a tune, ‘White boy lost in the blues’

            Keep the faith.

          2. Young neighbour will likely set his career in the U.S. regardless of MLB outcome.

Have a nice Easter Monday, hugs to S. Jackson.
Here’s that Lovett tune, “White Boy Lost in the Blues” —they mention Muddy.

    2. I saw the movie The Hard They Come at a university multicult festival, which made me buy the soundtrack. Back then some of that cultural stuff was actually interesting, as opposed to being omnipresent and boring.

  2. Ontario man allegedly claimed he smuggled over 1,000 people through Akwesasne
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/smuggling-akwesasne-simranjit-singh-1.6803168

An Ontario man who once allegedly bragged he’d moved over 1,000 people across the Canada-U.S. border, is now facing a nine-count indictment alleging he was the “primary organizer” of a human smuggling network using Akwesasne Mohawk territory.

Simranjit “Shally” Singh of Brampton, Ont., pleaded not guilty on Wednesday in the U.S. Federal Court for the Northern District of New York to charges related to human smuggling. He was extradited to the U.S. on Thursday.

The indictment is based on evidence gathered through surveillance, Facebook messages and human sources related to four failed smuggling attempts across the St. Lawrence River between March 2020 and April 2022, according to court records.

Singh allegedly acted as a broker, charging $5,000 to $35,000 per person to smuggle mainly Indian nationals into the U.S., according to court records. …

Singh, who is currently facing deportation in Canada, arrived in Montreal from India in 2010 with his then-wife and one child and filed refugee claims. His mother then arrived with his other child and also filed refugee claims. All five were ultimately rejected, according to court records.

Canadian authorities could not return them to India because the Indian consulate refused to provide travel documents. Singh is now attempting to stay through his second wife, who sponsored him. That application was pending at the time of his arrest last summer…

“He received 39 stripes because 40 was known to kill a man.
    They wanted him alive.

They held handfuls of his beard, and hair and pulled it out by the roots.
    They wanted him alive.

They kicked, punched, and spit on him for hours. Until there wasn’t a single spot on his body not covered in blood.
    They wanted him alive.

They shoved a crown of thorns down on his head so harshly it stuck in his skin. They wanted him alive.

After hours of being beaten, mocked, whipped, flogged, and tortured they made him walk with a cross. They made him carry it. A rough piece of wood with splinters digging into fresh wounds. They wanted him alive.

They wanted him to feel every ounce of pain they could bring. He had to feel it in order to heal us. Crucifixion was historically one of the cruelest most tortured deaths a human could face. Hours upon hours of torture. Torture most of us can not mentally think of because the cruelty isn’t normal. It isn’t something our minds can comprehend. We celebrate Easter with pastel colors, happy children hunting eggs, and chocolate. Truth is there was absolutely nothing happy about the day Jesus died. It was cruel, bloody, and nasty.

He could have stopped all of it. He could have called every angel in heaven to demolish every person standing and shouting “Crucify Him!” He didn’t. He knew in order to have a Sunday you have to have a Friday. He knew in order to have joy you have to carry your cross. He felt everything that day. He felt how your heart broke wide open when you had to watch your baby die. He felt how heavy your life was when you were staring down the barrel of a gun wondering if the man you called husband was going to shoot you. He carried the weight of the burden you have felt since your spouse died and life just doesn’t seem right since.

On that cross he held the rapist and murderers, the sinner and the saint. He leveled every playing field and said ALL of you are worth it. He knew he had to carry the cross. He never promised the cross you carry in this life would not be heavy. His wasn’t. His promise is that Sunday is coming.

No matter how heavy Friday is. Financially, emotionally, mentally, or physically. Friday is heavy. That cross is weighing you down and you are about to crumble under its weight. His promise was simply this. He won’t make you carry it alone. What kind of king would step down from his throne for this?

Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God did. For you.
He did every bit of it for you and me. Oh yes it is heavy. So heavy sometimes you do not think you can take one more step. But look up, because Sunday is coming.”

  5. We’ve a 2008 Chev pickup. The heater/AC ergonomics are the worst of any vehicle I’ve ever driven. Between the location on the dash (far too low) and the goofy vertically oriented “roller” dials for temperature, it is impossible to adjust without taking your eyes off the road. Just stupid. And these goofy touchscreens are worse.

Give me some good, ol’ fashioned analog switches (with positive detents!) located in the upper middle of the dash and it’ll be far superior to anything out today.

People Are Waking up to the Perils of Modern Automotive Features

    https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/cars/editorials/opinion-people-are-waking-up-to-the-perils-of-modern-automotive-features-44500216

    1. 2000 is the cut-off for me, the only vehicle made since then that I really like is my KLR (a 2012, they still used a carburetor.) My employer provides me with a 2004 Chev pickup and it’s infested with Marcolins. If I had the money to buy a new vehicle I’d spend it on stripping one of my old trucks (’96, ’91) to the frame and rebuilding them. I don’t have to look at the controls to operate them.

      1. “I don’t have to look at the controls to operate them.”

Exactly. We had a ’99 ‘Burb, same thing. Convenient, easy to use, within reach, no need for your eyes to ever leave the road. Even the rear controls, on the overhead console, were ‘ergonomic’.

    2. I have a 2018 Mazda MX-5 that I waited decades to buy. It’s the first vehicle I ever fell in love with. For me, all the main controls fall to hand although I did have to take time to commit the display screen controls to memory. I will say that for the lesser used items I wait until I am parked. Overall I give the controls an 8 or 9 for usability without staring at the dash.

I agree though that newer vehicles are too complicated to operate without diverting your attention from the road or having to read the manual, an activity I discourage anyone from doing while driving (lawyer speak for don’t sue me if you do read it while driving).

Meanwhile, Ford applied for a patent to repossess vehicles remotely meaning they already can take control of your car from anywhere. Another good reason to restore the older vehicles.

  6. Do not miss some of the excellent testimony from the National Citizens Enquiry. MSM has been very negligent with respect to relating the damage done and people hurt by governnent Covid policies. https://nationalcitizensinquiry.ca/
I also suspect they (MSM) will simply ignore the enquiry. I am glad, however, that it will be part of the historical record. Good work being done by ordinary citizens.

      1. You are right. It should be big news. Unfortunately, some areas in Canada are still oblivious to the potential dangers of the vaccines. Ontario continuing to recommend them for pregnant women, despite no tests completed for safety in pregnancy and sone grizzly accounts of problems.

  7. NY attorney general deposing Trump .
    https://fb.watch/jOE0v7PQRv/
This is unbelievable. Anyone who has run a business, applied for a business loan or tried to develop a property will understand. With what they imply in this questioning every business owner would be in jail. Maybe that is their plan.

    1. Not surprised. Blackie, a number of years back, came right out & noted that small business owners are tax cheats.

    2. A lesson folks. Never say one damn word to a cop or prosecutor, at all, ever. (1) Despite the fact that you are particularly brilliant you will never talk a cop out of charging you. (2) The cop is looking for errors and inconsistencies in your story that he can disprove by whatever means necessary including buying testimony with cash or favors.

  8. scar

    Good advice.

Something I pounded into my boys. You never speak to the cops. They ask you a question you reply with something about a baseball game or a receipe. After a couple of attempts they get the picture. Your not talking and convicting yourself.

  9. She seems nice. Has Shiny Pony offered to fly her here to culturally enrich us even more?
