      Our power restored at 4:30 this afternoon, out since 5:30 Wednesday afternoon.

      Zero loss. Helped neighbors keep warm and not lose freezer or fridge goods. I was helped by a back door neighbor who is on a different circuit from our street. We worked together to keep as many as possible safe.

      Our house has a backup system, not automatic, but effective. Used the generator to help others, while using the neighbor supply to keep our freezer and fridge up, also loaded with other neighbors stuff and medicines. We had heat and hot water, shared coffee with neighbors, took care of the older people. Saved several Easter dinners.

      Missed the Masters first days, but some hardships you have to survive :-\

Probably what they’ll do now is pile on Atlanta and Mar-a-lago so NY becomes an after-thought. Speaking of after-thoughts, did they not announce a while back that Biden had some cancer removed earlier this year way after the fact and that story just completely disappeared?

    Looks like the infrastructure-bombing campaign that was, according to Russia (and Alabama loonies, represented here by Roy Moore), to bring Ukraine to its knees only brought the Russian rocket-building industry to its knees. Ukraine never experienced anything worse than rolling blackouts, which was entirely predictable, actually, as power-distribution grids have a lot of redundancy built-in and with a lot of industry in Ukraine standing still its grid is underloaded. In addition, Russians don’t have munitions specifically designed for attacks on energy infrastructure (the US does), so they had to hit it with anything else including anti-ship missiles, which only increased civilian casualties.

    Now, people here may not know it, but the occupied Crimea gets all or nearly all of its electricity via an underwater cable (made in China, obviously, as that technology is far beyond the backward Ruϟϟischeschweinen Pediration) and non-state groups associated with Ukraine are among suspects for the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage… We may see something interesting happening soon.

      Ahh, for those innocent days when kids didn’t know which one was straight and which one was gay. Good way to start an argument in 7th grade. By 9th grade you knew it all,.,. kinda… sorta. Nowadays, kids are learning the ‘alphabet’ by age 4, 5, or 6. Soon enough, Homosauarus will replace the Dick and Jane beginner’s books.

    Parveer Singh, 34, of no fixed address, has been arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime, mischief over $5,000, dangerous operation of a vehicle and breach of probation order.

    He was previously wanted on an outstanding immigration warrant, and on a probation order forbidding him from driving a vehicle that wasn’t his due to previous auto theft offences.

    Singh has been transferred into the custody of the Canada Border Services Agency.

    1. I’ve never understood that whole getting the Key To The City thing, Reader. It’s always this great big key a couple of feet long. You can’t put it on your keychain. You’d have to lug it around in a backpack or something.

      Near as I can tell, one of those keys and $5.00 gets you a free coffee at Starbucks.

      I’d rather just have the keys to all the vehicles in the city’s motor pool. That would be useful.
