A second batch of classified documents detailing the United States’ analyses of global hotspots has been leaked online in a suspected Russian plot.
More than 100 documents are feared to have been obtained in what a senior intelligence called ‘a nightmare for the Five Eyes,’ – a reference to the intelligence sharing agreement between the United States, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
The documents cover the war in Ukraine, China, terrorism and the Middle East.
The Pentagon confirmed the leak, but said that some of the documents – as with the earlier reported leak – had been doctored to downplay the strength of U.S. allies.
The first tranche of documents appeared to have been posted in early March on the social media platform Discord, according to Aric Toler, an analyst at Bellingcat, the Dutch investigative site.
Friday’s documents were published on the controversial message board 4Chan, and subsequently spread on Twitter.
Oh dear. The earliest versions of the unedited leak I can find — on 4chan, of all places — also has an additional map of the situation in Bakhmut that isn’t in the copies being spread on Russian TG channels.The guy was posting these docs to win an argument against other anons on 4chan

80% of what they tell you is exactly the same. Look for the differences, and even more importantly, “What are everyone, or most of them not saying?” Some people say the NYT is the unofficial site for leaks from one National Security Agency, and WaPo is being used the same way by the other National Security Agency. They use those newspapers to set the narrative story according to their desires. Where the two or more agencies conflict is interesting. Who are National Security Agencies? At a minimum, there are the FBI, CIA, US State Dept., and don’t forget the five branches of the military.
If they passed through Ukraine or Russia? Someone has inserted a bunch of lies. But which are the lies, and which are the truth?

It’s likely a psy-ops operation by the CIA and/or US military intelligence. Having 2 versions, one photo-shopped is a nice touch to “fog” the trail of origin. They’re clever with these efforts, always mixing in some truth with the lies.
As for Aric Toler, and the Atlantic Council types, they’re part of the effort, whether wittingly or unwittingly is hard to guess.
The real question here is what is the purpose of this psy-op? Generally these efforts are to influence political sentiment with legislators and channel public opinion to where the ops originators want it to go.
The “doctored” versions are likely closer to the truth. Clever isn’t it? Put out a package of lies, but give them credibility by floating some doctored versions at the same time to both discredit the truth and enhance the lie.
Western intelligence agencies are a mess right now as various incidents during the exit from Afghanistan showed. That said, while they’ve become less competent at gathering intelligence, they’ve become more competent at manipulating political opinion.
No, probably not. Russia has had many events of mass losses, I can’t think of a single one for Ukraine. Makiivka, Vuhledar, the soccer stadium, the botched river crossing. On and on it goes.
Then there’s countless videos of Russians with poor tactics and no cover running across fields to fortified Ukrainian positions.
It just never ends, and it all points to disproportionate losses for the muscovites.
The United States is like a firebug I remember was in my neighborhood when I was a boy. He would go around setting little fires in outbuildings, mostly garages, he was also a volunteer fireman. He finally got caught when he set his own garage on fire in an attempt to allay suspicion. That’s what we do, we create conflicts and crises, and then do our best to make sure that they don’t “go to waste.”
But the “these are doctored” trope is right out of the playbook they used on the Hunter Biden laptop, even though no evidence has ever been presented of any one of those documents actually having been doctored.
I also think that there are some people in Germany, in high places, who are pretty torqued that the US blew up the pipeline on which Germany had founded its strategy for economic growth, oh, and BTW, competition with the US, economically.
