Who needs surpluses when you’ve got votes to buy? You would think with the recent crappy news coming out of financial markets, any government with an actual budgetary surplus would at least consider paying down some debt, but not in BC anyway. In any event, it would be helpful if the government at least knew where the money was going.
In a recent column, CHEK News legislative correspondent Rob Shaw wrote that the B.C. Legislature was approving spending items so quickly that MLAs often couldn’t explain where the money was going or why it was needed.
Shaw wrote when Agriculture Minister Pam Alexis was queried on why she had requested an extra $111 million in spending, she replied by reading her own press release.

I thought Bill Gates was buying up all the farmland
Hello, useless eater.
Governments aren’t at all worried about paying off debt when it can be rolled over into the next batch of debt… and don’t worry about interest on the debt being the biggest ministry, that’s just a lie from the conservatives
Fortunately provinces can’t print currency.
The Commie NDP is just a reflection of their simpleton voters. Deep in debt, racking up the spending and living for today.
Their philosophy is akin to selling your deeply indebted house for big dollars, not paying off the mortgage, and instead going on a luxury vacation, buying a luxury car and eating at the Keg every night.
Government knows that nobody is foreclosing on them, they write THE LAWS after all. Remember, laws are for everyone else, but government doesn’t enforce laws on itself.
Irresponsible parasites.
The BC LIberals are no better, by the way.
All the better.
Buffalo can buy up the bankrupt remains.Securing the Port and banishing the starving remnants of the Looney Left to a few forgotten Islands.
Or mine the mountain passes until they get through consuming each other.
These creatures aborted their futures, what do they care about “debt load on future generations”?
It appears the financial illiterates are running the province, ask a Liberal/dipper what “Compound Interest” means-seriously ask one that question.
