A Jan. 10, 2022, Canadian Security and Intelligence Service report viewed by The Globe and Mail outlines how China’s then-consul-general, Tong Xiaoling, discussed mentoring – or as the report quoted her, “grooming” – Chinese-Canadian municipal politicians for higher office to advance Beijing’s interests.

It seems to have failed though, since some of the major news outlets have picked up on the fact that Johnston is a long time Liberal and even now chairs the board of the Rideau Hall Foundation. Expecting an ‘unbiased’ report from him is laughable.

Whoever made up the spy story has never spent much time in Vancouver. We have an overabundance of snooty private school kids around here, and the absolute last thing any of us want is a mayor who constantly acts like one. Even socialists get tossed overboard if they behave like that all the time.

If there is sufficient evidence that law was broken the Vancouver police should be investigating.
Waiting for the government to react and a chorus of opposition critics to make hay out of it won’t do a damn thing.
