The Epoch Times had an excellent article a few years ago about the media.
Basically the article refers to the birth of what we now call “advocacy journalism” the goal of which was not to accurately report the news, but to shape history and that “good journalism” must give the reader the “appropriate” context by which the “correct” opinions could be formed.
The concept comes from the philosophy of Curtis MacDougall who wrote “Interpretative Reporting” used in “journalism” schools. That philosophy now seems to be the accepted “norm” in every major journalism school in the country.
By the way, Curtis MacDougall was Illinois state supervisor of the heavily Communist Party-infiltrated Federal Writers Project from 1939 to 1942, going on to teach journalism in Northwestern University until his retirement in 1971.

Has anything really changed in the last 200 years?
Once upon a time, weather and sports were accurate reporting.
But with the advent of woke trans sports and global warming even those sections have bitten the dust.
The only honest page in the newspaper is the funny page.
And even that section has been politicized.
The amusing thing is that the media has been so purposeful and deceitful in their actions that their initial line of defense or explanation was akin to sticking one’s finger in the dike to avoid the flood. They were content to wear (and promote) the label of “incompetent” in order to waylay the ultimate basis for their actions (or more often, non-actions).
They are the toddler at the kitchen table whose face is covered in crumbs and chocolate telling you that they didn’t take any cookies, but might have lifted a couple of grapes from the fridge.
Seriously, when I see all these articles and comments from people presumably on the Right calling today’s press “incompetent” and NOT “outright dishonest,” I realize that there are stupid enablers on both sides of the aisle. And, most of those enablers on the Right go into politics.
