CTV- Millennium Library not scheduled to reopen next week, no timetable set
The library has been closed since Dec. 11 following the stabbing death of 28-year-old Tyree Cayer inside the building.
Four teens between the ages of 14 and 16 have been charged in connection to his death – three are facing a manslaughter charge, while the fourth has been charged with second-degree murder.
Metal detectors used to be installed and bag searches started in 2019 after police warned about weapons in and around the library.
But following backlash from community advocates, the scanners were removed.
Maybe you should put them back in?
Following the homicide, Millennium for All – one of the community advocates that raised concerns about the metal detectors – tweeted, “We remain committed to evidence-based strategies for safety that are rooted in inclusion, anti-racism, and harm reduction, and we encourage council to fund them.”
Not mentioned in the story is that cops now have a whole floor of the parkade to themselves – “Winnipeg city council has approved a plan to give police officers exclusive secure access to the Millennium Library parkade.”

Metal Detectors are racist? Do they detect the melanin content of the visitor? Or do metal detectors detect metal on any person, regardless of race?
I would think one way for “Harm Reduction” to be actually implemented would be to keep guns, knives, drugs, and dangerous objects OUT of the Library? Wouldn’t making all people of all races, sexes, ages, and backgrounds feel safe in the library be the apex of “Inclusion?”
“community Advocates” are pro-crime and pro-criminal, there is no other way to explain it

Remember that in Canada your options available to defend yourself are limited. If you hurt or kill your attacker you will be charged. It will be your responsibility to prove that the force you used was reasonable and justified. The use of a firearm for self defense is prohibited in Canada. You may end up being acquitted but you will be broken mentally and financially. You can then be sued civilly. The process is the punishment. Harm reduction only applies to the criminal.
You can ask the guy who defended himself with a handful of spices how well it went for him.

Just say the gun/knife detectors are to protect the usual mostly gay staff, or for the tranny reading nights to 5 year olds.
There are fights like this every week at my library when the new releases are put on the shelves.
Quit trying to save them. Encourage them, give out free wine, dope etc. And supply hatchet’s knives, hammers, machete’s etc.
My family came to Canada some time before 1929.. Dad was born in Winterpeg that year.. The Canadian government forced my family to live in that place for 5 or 10 years (not sure).. That was the deal in the 1920s apparently.. Stories of hardship living in that place as well as being looked down upon as a farmer boy when the family moved to Toronto in 1950.. Good times..

Is this library a secret homeless shelter like the ones in Toronto? With free computers so they can do their business (watch porn) and then fight to near death when it’s someone else’s turn to rub one out?

Why only one charged with murder and three with manslaughter. If the three meant to hurt someone and they died, sounds like murder. Hell if they meant to hurt someone and someone else dies they are guilty of murder. If the three assisted in a murder they are guilty of murder. Charge them all with murder and if they rat out their friends they get manslaughter and a slap on the wrist. Don’t crown prosecutors watch TV?
Doing whatever is least effective is de facto woke policy. Follow their guidelines, and people suffer and die.
