I’ll worry about the legal aspect later, if I’m alive to to do the worrying. appropriate detail would be one made up of prison guards. Canadians would then

We had reason to call the King’s Horsemen a couple months back. Had some squatters on a rental property. First off, they’d broken into a trailer owned by the legitimate renter & moved in. We accosted them & got them to move all their stuff out of the trailer. It was left on the lawn overnite with promises it would be cleaned up next day. Next day they had gathered up some pallets & made a little shelter in the back corner of the yard and moved all their stuff in.
Ended up calling the cops, expecting charges, arrests, something, anything with teeth (HA!!!). They talked to the squatters, the squatters left, the cops left, few hours later the squatters were back, the cops drove past & talked to them again, blah, blah, blah. We wanted to be there when the cops dropped by to clarify any lies by the squatters, of course we never got that call.
Long story longer, instead of dealing with the issue at the start with charges or arrests, they ended up stopping at the property twice, had multiple drive-bys and can present a bill to the community at the end of the month for multiple interventions. It’s a story that has repeated itself for years around here.
The renter knows the squatters personally & noted to us that one of them even has an outstanding warrant which, of course, was never discovered by the cops ’cause charges or arrests were never placed.
Whaddya expect from people who would intentionally sabotage & vandalize heavy equipment sitting on private property during the Coutts border protest?
The RCMP are the most useless cops on earth. I am not sure they are corrupt. There are obviously no rewards for actually solving crimes. The ones who get promoted must be the ones avoid doing anything.
If a firearm has been brandished about by the owner to ‘ help ‘ persuade the squatters to leave, I am sure charges would have been the order of the day.
The ministers don’t show up in Parliament so why do they need to attend public events.
They can attend via Zoom calls, so they wouldn’t need police protection.
Zoom calls would also reduce their carbon footprint. After all these are the same people who call climate change an existential crisis.

My mom used to know some RCMP officers assigned to watching the Prime Minister’s residence when Pierre and Margaret were still living together with the kids.
They said they’d have to break in through the windows and spray air freshener because the place reeked of weed and tourists could smell it, Margaret would be passed out on the sofa , and they’d have to carry her to bed and call a doctor.

I don’t know if this stat is still accurate but a couple of summers back 30% of rcmp members posted in BC were off on stress league. 30%.
Whenever there is a crisis somewhere the rcmp pull members out of every detachment they can in the country. So, if a rural community has a detachment of 4, it’s possible they may only have 2 or 3 members available for any crisis at any one time as the cops they pay for to police their community are off somewhere else, not available for local duty.
During the Freedom Convoy the rcmp deployed 1000 cops to Ottawa. These members were taken from every community across the country. Security was deemed so fragile that five hundred (500!) were assigned to protect the Bong. WTF did they think was going to happen? Was this the highest and best use of the Force? Madness.
