It appears that a certain group of social engineers are finally getting their well-deserved comeuppance. I’m surprised that the fact-checkers aren’t going all out to bury the news.
Meta is in a revenue slump for the long haul. The company sees $30 billion to $32.5 billion for the holiday quarter, missing the midpoint of consensus.
Expenses for 2023 are higher than expected, at $96 billion to $101 billion, as Zuckerberg pursues that metaverse vision.
Reality Labs and other metaverse initiatives are going to keep losing money. Operating loss is $3.67 billion.
Earnings also missed estimates, at $1.64 per share compared to the $1.89 per share estimate.
Zuckerberg says “prioritization and efficiency” are the focus for 2023. Some teams will be downsized, only priority teams get to grow headcount.

It is completely beyond me why anyone would participate in this. About 15 years ago when my son was in high school, I asked him what he was doing one night. He said he was feeding his virtual farm animals on facebook. That did it for me. Ironically, facebook is now part of the global cabal seeking to eliminate farm animals in the interest of ‘saving the planet’.
We were fortunate in that Calgary has “Aggie Days” as well as the agricultural exhibition at the Stampede. Back in the day, we would take the offsprings to both events and always tour the barns. When we got to the cattle, I was known to ask the exhibitors if we were looking at ice cream or hamburgers. Received a few startled looks, but always got an answer. We were determined the offsprings would realize the source of their food.
We also had a small garden in the back until the trees grew too tall. Offsprings participated in that as well. Nowadays, it’s the adult offsprings who – in their own homes with their own kids (the grandbrats) who have veggie gardens (even if it’s mainly tomatoes) so the tradition of knowing where one’s food comes from is being passed on.

Maybe facebook has had it’s run. People get tired of everything and anything after awhile. It’s our nature to gawk and move on. We need constant change and stimulus to stay interested in life. Self destruction is also part of our nature.
I believe we are seeing this unfolding at this point in time … as they say.
