Nursing regulatory bodies have way too much power. Across Canada they decide what a licensed nurse can do in her off duty time. This includes places a nurse chooses to spend off duty time, and their personal opinions. Even if what a nurse is saying is factually correct, they are not allowed to have an opinion that goes against the current trend, or are they allowed to comment negatively on other colleagues. There are many examples out there of nurses being suspended, fined and losing licensure. Nursing is still a well respected profession. What other professions so closely monitor their own on OFF duty time?
