      I just want them to do it on their own time and on their own dime.

  3. The decline in French spoken at home is being measured as a percentage of the population. Bringing in over 400,000 immigrants a year is what is causing the decline in the percentage. The Dear Leader is responsible for these record high levels of immigration. So he created the problem and is now moaning about it, but will not solve it by reducing immigration

      I had the same thoughts. Have massive amounts of immigration, then complain that immigrants don’t want to learn French.

      Also isn’t massive immigration a form of colonialism? And the Turd is opposed to colonialism.

      Justin could solve the problem by passing a law saying all new immigrants have 1 year to become fully French speaking. This would arrest the decline of French, and reduce colonialism.

  9. With my patients I use Spanish way more than I use French. My Cantonese and Mandarin speaking colleagues get plenty of practice too. When I do use French it’s with recent African immigrants. Multiculturalism: you want it; you got it.

  13. If it was warm in areas which spoke French, and which someone was interested in visiting from cold Canada, perhaps the French language without a real name for “90” would have done better. I’ve known more people who speak Spanish for some good and warm reasons…

    Haiti, visited by so many people from Quebec, doesn’t count in spite of the super economic rate their hookers charge, it’s simply too much of a shithole for thinking people. Not even those from Dominican Republic will visit them.

  14. Only slightly less offensive than GG Clarkson imploring university students to learn obscure indigenous languages simply for the sake of keeping those languages alive – languages with no useful application whatsoever in society. Imagine putting in the time to learn a dead language.
    The sooner we’re all speaking one language, English, the better off we’ll all be.

      1. If memory serves, it was a Christian minister who produced the syllabics system – first for the Cree, and then for other indigenous languages. There are some who say the system was brought by a Cree native, but that’s somewhat obscure.

    2. SO how do you learn a language that has no written component that you could use to relate to a language you understand?

      I suspect a lot of people would have an easier time learning Sanskrit than one of the tribal languages
