I’ve seen that argument a dozen times or more, and it does look reasonable on the face of it. But it’s not. Here’s why:
The deal breaker for me is the fact that Poilievre has allowed himself to be bought by the Quebec dairy cartel (just like Andrew Scheer and Erin O’Toole before him). He supports the disgusting practice of ‘supply management’ that increases the cost of food for poor and middle-class Canadian families by 300 to 500 dollars annually. You respond by saying “well, so what? He’s with us on everything else!”
But HE’S NOT, though. Not really. Because if he can ignore common decency and push those pesky ‘principles’ aside to go along with this despicable, profit-driven exploitation of the Canadian public, he simply cannot be trusted to keep *any* of his promises. He will say whatever is necessary to get elected, then turn around and stab us all in the back the way Erin O’Toole tried to.
“But he’s the only one who can beat Justin Trudeau!”, you claim.
“If you don’t vote for him, Trudeau will win again and it will be YOUR fault!”
Uh-huh. And if I *do* vote for him, and he wins, he will turn right around and do EXACTLY the same things as Trudeau has done to us for the last few years.
