Down The Primrose Path

Internal polls are ringing alarm bells for Democrats and the memos have gone out.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s dismissal of senior officials is casting an inconvenient light on an issue that the Biden administration has largely ignored since the outbreak of war with Russia: Ukraine’s history of rampant corruption and shaky governance.

As it presses ahead with providing tens of billions of dollars in military, economic and direct financial support aid to Ukraine and encourages its allies to do the same, the Biden administration is now once again grappling with longstanding worries about Ukraine’s suitability as a recipient of massive infusions of American aid.

Wait for it…

Those issues, which date back decades and were not an insignificant part of former President Donald Trump’s first impeachment…

Enthusiasm for Ukraine among Democrats and their allied media had little to do with democracy and freedom for Ukraine. In the background, the political calculus was always about Trump.

They’d put years of hard work into creating a political narrative tying Trump to Russia, and they weren’t going to let that crisis go to waste. They saw Ukraine as a conveniently distant battlefield upon which to seal the political fate of the evil dictator, Donald J. Putin.

What they didn’t predict was that the conflict would drag on beyond the patience of the American mid-term voter already angry at skyrocketing inflation and a looming recession. Now they need an exit ramp and their friends in media are setting it up.

From the comments – I remember South Vietnam. The Democrats reversed course after LBJ dragged us into that war. Suddenly when Nixon actually negotiated a peace treaty and US Withdrawal, all the stories from 1972 on were how Sough Vietnam was a corrupt sh**hole and we should stop all military aid and abandon them. We did, and South Vietnam fell in 1975.

  1. Don’t Forget the other story over in Europe. Russian Natural Gas is/was suddenly in shorter supply last week. Was that actually ONLY a maintenance issue, or was it a shot across the bow to European Leaders that bad things could “unexpectedly” happen and Europe could be freezing in the dark come December?

I remember South Vietnam. The Democrats reversed course after LBJ dragged us into that war. Suddenly when Evil Republican President Nixon actually negotiated a peace treaty and US Withdrawal, all the stories from 1972 on were how South Vietnam was a corrupt sh**hole and we should stop all military aid and abandon them.
We did, and South Vietnam fell in 1975. Watch the Democrats shamelessly run this play again over the next few months or years?

Could this all be the set-up for the Western World abandoning Ukraine?

Oh Yeah. Good luck collecting on Justin’s Loans to UKR if it falls.

    1. Remember who dragged the US into Vietnam in the first place: everyone’s favourite Kennedy.

      1. OK try Allan Dulles, the CIA director that Kennedy fired, and who orchestrated Kennedy funereal with johnson the johnson’s help> HL Hunt the oil oligarch financed the operation!

  2. I support the Ukrainian people but their government has been “bad” for at least 8 years and with Russia’s invasion, Zelensky has allowed himself to become a full-blown dictator. When you poke the bear, you had better be ready for when the bear swipes back at you.

    1. “But when the Uncle Sam showers you with literally tens of billions of US Dollars from which you can skim off millions, who cares?

      -Voldemort Elenskyyy

PS Besides, just look at all the money I’m saving them by wearing this shabby old green t-shirt every day.

  3. The green screen war is over so send the film crew home.
If you have a minute pray that Malcom Nance gets out safely.

    1. The Chow Thief “rotated” out of Ukraine last month. Amazingly when he announced his departure his field gear looked like new!

  4. Looks like people are starting to see the writing on the wall. Ukraine and Russia have signed an agreement to let grain shipments out to countries in danger of starving this fall. Could a cease-fire be far off? It would be hilarious if a Ukraine-Russia cease-fire was negotiated with Biden taking credit. He badly needs a win.

    1. “He badly needs a win.”

Indeed. And the chicomms and pooty badly need him to win.

  5. There’s another piece to this. For lack of a better term, I’d call it “Grant Skimming”. The US political players go outside the US and authorize a sum of money to be applied to some project in an agreeable nation. The one that came to light this past year was a series of laboratories in Ukraine studying potential pandemic exposures. Once the grant money is received by the chosen nation, the distribution (and ultimately, the record keeping) of expenditures falls into their purview, and outside of the US auditors (OMB). Zelenskyy….who was presumably elected in a campaign to stem the known corruption of the country is an absolute joke. You may recall that his name showed up in the Pandora Papers. Apparently, he had an off shore account of his own that was pocketing royalties from his television success (that was running in RUSSIA).

Then we have folks like Lindsey Graham advocating for the assassination of Putin as it all hit the fan. That behavior doesn’t fit the media served entre very well. There had to be an underlying message there. I found the timing curious. Ukraine and Russia were floating comments about sitting down at the negotiating table about that time. If you don’t think Zelenskyy is sitting on a pile of documentation that includes the above, you’re naïve. Then we see a parade of worldwide politicians skipping into Ukraine over a two week period to kiss the ring (inclusive of Trudeau, McConnell, Pelosi etc.).

Of course, there is also the Biden family’s involvement with Ukraine and an actual video of our President’s (then VP) extortion to have a corruption investigation stopped that directly attached to his son.

In short, I have no doubt that a vast majority of those advocating for Ukraine are merely lemmings following the directed narrative. But, above them are the true corrupted politicians who orchestrated the thought process. And, IMO, those folks lost a cash cow when Russia invaded. And, now they are concerned that Zelenskyy will use documentation of that cash cow to solicit agreements with Putin.

  6. Agree Orson – this was an orchestrated war – with no care or concern about Ukraine or its citizens whatsoever – It served many purposes such as massive grift operation for those you mention , setting up sanctions to damage the west and advance the BBB agenda, blame the engineered inflation on Putin, just to name a few – setting the foundations for the destruction of the USD as world reserve currency is another.

I don’t think Dems or their partners in crime the Republican leadership are too worried about polls, once ALL the ballots are counted.

  7. Be it war money or just the standard foreign aid loot, most gets skimmed off to those in power, both the giver and receiver acquire their fair share before it starts trickling down.
    Governments always eat first.
When Sri Lanka hit the skids last week….who was seen at the airport and others at the dock with a number of travel bags full of cash heading to Dubai

  8. I’m old enough to remember when we were told that Ukraine’s corruption wasn’t a reason to withhold $40 Billion from them … like about 6-weeks ago … in Congress.

  9. Notice the usual sock puppets are silent on this thread?

  10. From Blacklock’s: More Ukrainian Loans OK’d

Cabinet yesterday disclosed it approved another $500 million loan for Ukraine. The announcement came the same day Ukraine confirmed with creditors it suspended payments on its foreign debt: “It is in the national interest.” READ MORE

We can kiss that money goodbye.

  11. Ukraine is a corrupt shithole and the impeachment was just one more coverup of the fact. No evidence regarding Ukraine was allowed not approved by Pelosi, whose son held a similar job to Hunter’s. We should not be throwing money down that rathole, but they own corrupt Joe Biden and Pelosi, so we will fight to the last Ukrainian.

  12. The salient difference between the Ukraine and Vietnam is that Vietnam fell to communists, while a successful outcome for Russia means that the Ukraine does not fall to communists.

  13. The world needs tax heavens and corrupt countries to launder cash.

The casino system in Canada is a convenient tool for money laundering. Hell there are government run casinos. Sports betting is another way to palm cash.

The ukes and their brothers the russkies know something about moving cash around. They have perfected theft and therefore have friends in high places. So, the money known as foreign aid – is all stolen. No surprise there.

  14. I’d say what a wobbly path to global thermonuclear war but our neocons and progressivist fascists keep taking shortcuts.

  15. Pakistan is about to go full Sri Lanka, and fall to the well equipped (with 65 B USA hardware) Taliban. Thr problem in Pakistan is food, and most of their wheat comes from the Uke, and Russia. And if the pohlack is reading here, his buddies in Poland are now admitting that the Ukes are loosing big time!
