12. New histories list many slaves in Canada. I wondered how this could be until I found out that they do this by lumping in the histories of all of the colonies of New France, including those in the American midwest and in New Orleans.

I will concede that European settlers may have stepped on a few moccasins upon arriving from across the pond when those who feel oppressed by the white man, which include all these recent aggrieved new comers and white liberal woketards, cast off the scourge of the white and go back to their native ways.

17. It was colonialization and British war ships that ended slavery in Canada. If the SCOC has its way, the Indians will get all the land back which means we all live under Indian law – no more taxes or government, take all the slaves you can, kill whomever you want as long as its for the benefit of your tribe.

Some years back someone ran the numbers and determined that the number of voters in Ontario that received some or all of their income from the government exceeded the number who didn’t. That’s a tipping point. That’s the beginning of the Tytler Cycle.

20. Did quick research for a projest using census data from the 20s right up to the 60s. Black population in Canada below 0.3% for that period (rising to about 3% after the 60s). Most blacks were brough over from the US: the US loyalist brought their slaves over to Canada, mostly in the Eastern provinces.

    It’s pretty hard to be a anti-black racist when the 0.3% that are around are all concentrated a thousand miles away…

21. Of course there was slavery and colonization in what is now Canada. Problem is, it was the native Indians who were slavers and colonizers. There were various Indian confederations (Blackfoot Confederation, Iroquois Confederation, etc) who had no compuction about increasing their land holdings against other Indians (think colonization) and enslaving any from the “enemy” tribes they captured (think slaves). The slave trade from Africa to the West Indies and the Americas was a total disgrace, but it was limited in time and numbers (question for those who fulminate against this – how do you think black potential slaves got to the Bight of Benin if it weren’t for the complicity of other blacks as well as Arabs who had an equally good slave trade heading eastward), and was relatively quickly stamped out but white Christians (aided by the British navy and the Civil War) ended the practice. Slavery continued elsewhere for many years, and is still present in states such as Mali.
