As teachers begin talks for more money, they are busy spreading Marxism in Ontario schools. And apparently Doug Ford is not socialist enough.

Public education is child abuse…..long past due for charter schools, the money should follow the student
Blubber Douggie not socialist enough?
Just give him a week or two.
Yes, Thug Fraud will get Nick the Greek’s polling numbers in and tell him to continue to move left, left, left to capture the remaining Karens.
I mean, the moron just won a landslide, wiped out the Liberal and NDP leaders and now he can be anyone he wants, politically, and chooses Bill “Bland Works” Davis, and not Mike “Butcher” Harris.
In all fairness to Dougie, there isn’t a single politician alive today, no matter what level of government, that has the testicular fortitude necessary to make the dramatic cuts to the white collar civil service that are needed to truly begin fixing our myriad of problems. The public would never vote for any such person for fear, real or imagined, that their personal gravy train would come to an end.
Like any addict, we are going to have to hit rock bottom before we can get better.
Just like with his federal counterparts, Ford’s ‘Conservative Party’ in reality is ‘Liberal Party #2’.
Oh, c’mon, there are two YUGE differences in our parties:
One has the colour blue, the other is red.
One is in power when the other isn’t.
Yuge differences, I tell you, yuge.
Fire all Teachers never to be rehired or work with children again
Mike Harris set up a College of Teachers to try to inject some control, but the Liberals handed it back to the teachers.
My solution: de-certify every teacher, every day after they finish for the day (AFTER extra-curriculars), re-certify them every day at 8am.
In reality there are only 2 types of teachers;
those that have been caught molesting children,
those that have yet to be caugh
I can see why you’re angry about the whole education thing. You were obviously cheated.
Let me help you: for a reply, scream something obscene about how I was one of them. I wasn’t, but it’s all you’ve got, and i feel generous. A remnant of my teaching experience, I guess.
If you talk to a levelheaded teacher who wants to teach, who cares about their students and ask them this one question, you will get all other questions answered….Q. Do you know any teachers who are in your school who are there for the money and should not be teaching anything. The answer is usually an emphatic yes. But they are too afraid to say anything.
Teachers would always talk about how Mike Harris failed at teaching. Apparently he taught for a few years, didn’t like it, and moved on.
There are many, many people who fail at teaching, but they aren’t going anywhere.
My wife is in OSSTF. She loves what she does…most days. She was eligible to retire last year, but decided to keep going for another year because of her love for what she does…we don’t really need her paycheck although the benefits far exceed what I have working in the private sector…but that’s another topic. She hates her union with every ounce of her being and cites them as the only reason for the mediocrity and ineptitude which exists in their rank and file…and there’s plenty of it.
Many of her colleagues are completely bent and quite vocal about their views. I recall being at one of those bring your spouse work parties where I tore into one of her co-workers who couldn’t talk enough about how her recent trip to some third world shithole had really opened her eyes to her white privilege. I’m thankfully no longer allowed to go to any more of her work functions.
My sister in law has been teaching in Ontario for almost 25 years and I’m pretty much banned from the cottage on the weekend her and her teaching friends come up for my inability to bite my tongue.
I am reminded what that avowed Marxist did to teachers during the Great Leap Forward.
He didn’t like sparrows either , apparently.
Mike Harris come back, we need you…
He long ago received enough corporate board appointments to be thoroughly neutered.
Ford has already said no to early contract negotiations and handed the teachers their first PR talking point.
Frankly, I don’t expect a lot out of Ford who’s rather fond of eating with the Liberal cool kids in the Queen’s Park cafeteria.
So I guess we’ll have to sit through this three act Kabuki theatre production while both sides give each other a wink and a nod while feigning animosity.
I believe the immortal Frank Zappa covered this well..
A little ditty called “Flakes”.
The Teachers Union has prevailed.
Remember these childless wonders are “Co-Parenting” yours.
And there is absolutely zero support for any decent teachers who would change the system destroying education.
“Go along to get along”.
Pass the failure regardless.
And promote the destroyers,every year..
Institutional Rot.
Everybody Knows.
It’s Science.
It is too hard.
Kids don’t need to know that.
Socialization is our priority..
We get what we deserve here, for Public education is a bureaucracy.
Every child is doing time, from kindergarten to university..
Too this day,I still know not what crime I committed to have to serve 12 years of drudgery.
Must be a version of the “Original Sin” concept, with the teachers filling the part of the Demons.
Education in Ontario has been screwed for decades.
In the 1980s, I was expelled from a high school for flipping out and screaming my lungs out at a guidance councilor; When he told me that I didn’t need a grade 12 diploma to get a grade 13 diploma, that I only needed 6 grade 13 credits, and I had in effect wasted 3 years chasing credits I didn’t need, I lost it.
Absolutely true.
I missed grade 12 by one credit -failed French (BFD) but excelled in STEM.
Was encouraged by a canny teacher to forget repeating 12 and continue to 13 as I had all the STEM prerequisits.
Never looked back.
There are still good teachers who want to educate, not indoctrinate. But they are scared to speak openly, because if they do they will be ostracized and/or fired.
There is no solution to be found from Ford (or similar); the only way, I think, is for sane people to get elected to school boards and change things from there.
(That’s what I intend to do when once I retire.)
Teachers need to look south of the border where teachers are paid far less.
The state has to get out of the business of education. Period.
Its the ultimate conflict of interest.
I think the best way to solve this problem is the voucher system. Every kid has an amount assigned to them each year which is payment for 1 year at school. The parents have the ability and duty to find the best school which has core values that match their own, ie; reading, math. science, history etc. Each school principal has the right and obligation to hire the best teachers he can and then let it be known to the community what his school has to offer. The schools should be graded on their success in the core subjects and how well their students fair in relation to other schools in the area. I believe that the truly good teachers would gravitate to the better schools and the unions would become redundant. Just my 2 cents worth.
Easy fix.
Put every teacher on a 1 year contract, renewable upon satisfactory student results.
