Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Story 1. Does the NYT feel uncomfortable with American professional sports or Disney doing business with China? Didn’t think so.
Story 2. Take Trudeau with him. Maybe the Saudis can arrange a double beheading. That would attract more viewers than a golf tournament.
Money solves a lot of problems.
It creates other problems.
This is the world we live in, throw enough money at people and they can be persuaded to set aside personal convictions and morality, just for the sport of it.
Most of the world seems quite okay with buying Saudi oil and most governments have no issues selling them weapons. Why the sudden angst about golf?
If golfers were mostly black or leftists there wouldn’t be a problem
Exactly Dennis! We have been buying Mid-East Oil for a hundred years. Purchasing oil from the Mid-East has resulted in a massive transfer of wealth, which has resulted in what we are now experiencing, the ability of the Mid-East to buy anything they want with OUR money. The Mid-East would be a non-player in international trade were it not for their oil. Trump’s push for energy independence was one of the reasons that the Democrats had to remove him at all costs. That is another chapter in the saga that we are now living through.
Because hypocrisy…
Dennis
Agreed.
Typical leftist Urinalists whinning and utterly virtue signal over something they rarely acknowledge…witness NBA in a China w/NAZI style Lockdowns , Human replacement organ business via the small Chinese Muslim Community etc.
Yea spare me pls…
Shades of Bobby Hull and the WHA. I guess most of the players that have signed on figured they’d make some cash while they still can.
The NBA’s cozy relationship with China was never a big story for the media but I guess they’re piling on because pro golfers for the most part are conservative, so there’s that.
Pity the LPGA players who think they might get some Middle East action. Not happening hon.
Agreed to all of that. But PGA is so obnoxious for so many years that it may help to shake them out of their lethargy. Particularly so at a time when golf is losing its share of general golfing public. Maybe this might scare some of the smugness out of them.
“Particularly so at a time when golf is losing its share of general golfing public.”
For sure. Two golf courses have closed in my area which would have been unthinkable 15-20 years ago.
Boomers are dying off or the cost of maintenance is going way up. Maybe both.
How can the Saudi king, or any other “world leader” take Biden seriously.
They take “advantage”…Is Hunter on the plane?

Golf is the outdoor equivalent of watching paint dry.

Not the way I play the game. It’s freaking hilarious!
Burton, standard business tactic: buy low, sell high. SA has been anxious under its current monarch to improve its public image; hence it’s venturing into professional sports like many other Gulf nations. And it’s clear that PGA is not liked by a number of top golfers. So the Saudis have been able to snap up some star performers.
It’s not really about dying off. It’s about golf is losing its interest with the public. I suspect it could be many, many things.
They would get some Middle East action but it wouldn’t be golf.
Golfing in Saudi Arabia, and weirdos who whine about it.
You’d be hard-pressed to find something that I care less about, maybe vacationers in Cuba, and weirdos who whine about that.
The saudi pedophiles can’t get a sports network to cover their “sport”? Look no further than ABC. They would be happy to unhook from MLB and service the sandophiles. More money for “you” and “me”.
And just how much more groundwater depletion will it take to keep those Saudi golf courses a nice vibrant green? They’re not going to use salt-water.
The Saudis use Desalinization Plants. Something California refuses to do.
Israel could help them with that.
But, you know …
Israel and the Saudis are strategic partners. The Saudis may be evil, but they ain’t dumb. It’s hard to say who is more evil now, what with drag queen story hours here and all…I guess we’re better because we don’t behead people, unless they’re in the womb?
The PGA isnt as woke as other sports but the fact that Justin Thomas had to go into reeducation camp was not a good sign. They need some shaking up.
Sports are enjoyable to watch when there are no politics involved.
Sadly politics is involved in everything now. It’s one of socialism’s greatest triumphs.
No comment on the Chinese owning the NBA, however.
No more female Korean golfers then.
If they’re as temper-mental as Blasian tennis players … then it’s just as well …
How can the Saudi king, or any other “world leader” take Biden seriously.
While Tiger has struggled with marriage vows, it appears he has head screwed on straight here:
“Greg Norman, the creator of the Saudi-backed and controversial golf series, told the Washington Post that Tiger Woods was offered, and turned down, a deal that was “mind-blowingly enormous.” The offer reached into the “high nine” digits, Norman said.”
https://thebluestateconservative.com/2022/06/10/tiger-woods-rejected-a-mind-blowingly-enormous-sum-of-money-to-join-pga-rival-liv-tour/
Maybe Tiger watched Chinatown where Nicholson asks greedy land developer John Huston: “What can’t you eat? What can you buy that you can’t already afford?”
Golf?
Try to imagine how little I care.
I’ve been playing golf for about 35 years and never pass up a chance to get on the course. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on clubs that work great in the store and prove to be worse than useless on the course and balls that only see a tee box once. I’ve bought hundreds of do-dads that do nothing for my game but add line to my credit card statement. It’s a detestable game.
Target shooting and the art of re-loading can be very satisfying…did you know that you can re-build primers easily?
Biden has to make this trip. The country that was once the most powerful on earth needs to desperately plead for the Saudis to sell us some of their oil at whatever price they demand. Beg, even.
I mean, we need it, and it’s not like we have any of our own, right?
OARN…Why does China even need a military when a few hundred eco-weenie protesters in hemp shirts can bring us to our knees?
“Why does China even need a military when a few hundred eco-weenie protesters in hemp shirts can bring us to our knees?”
Those eco-weenies are just a manufactured pretext, like the entire woke crowd is.
Frankfurt School, cultural Marxism, Orwell, etc, all are now real.
Frankly … there is NOTHING worse than Qatar hosting the 2022 World Cup in their God-forsaken desert Islamoland. After THAT debacle … I stopped giving a shit. Be sure to cover your heads and faces ladies …
The wogs are allowed to be wogs in wogland. Face it, we are little better than them, what with our drag queen story hours and all, at least on a geopolitical level. DeSantis and Trump may be able to carve out a bit of sanity, though.
God Bless the USA, where “My way or the highway” is real, and its a good thing. where you have somewhere or something to run to, instead of just away from. Lest best chance of humanity, IMHO, there must be around 5-10 million folk in that country that actually value freedom.
Excuse me but the Canadian Open is being played this weekend at Toronto, in a country with the most restrictive rules on the planet for entry or exit when it comes to a non-refugee visitor’s vaccination status and all of a sudden the lack of human rights in SA is an issue. I don’t get it.
Phil is so broke he couldn’t pay his caddie, one lousy gambler. No way he is turning down $200 million.
