  1. A rather forgettable WW II movie Foxhole in Cairo:

    The only thing that I found that made this movie worth looking at was Michael Caine in an early role, several years before he starred in Zulu. He doesn’t say much and it’s hard to know it’s him without his trademark accent. Oh, there’s also some alluring belly-dancing scenes as well.

    Others than that, bland and predictable.

    I’ve heard of one specific torture method the Russians use called “the pipe” that almost always ends up being fatal. A piece of pipe about a foot long is lubed up and rammed up the victims ass. Then a 2 foot piece of barbed wire is slid into the pipe. The barbed wire is held in place while the pipe is removed.

        1. Pure Russian propaganda. It is Russia doing the killing. Make no mistake there has been Russian troops in the east since 2014. They shell indiscriminately, even now there’s plenty of evidence ofntheninaccuracy of their shelling. Then they blame Ukraine by bombarding the local populace with propaganda. NGOs have confirmed as much, Russia doesnt give a rats ass who lives and dies in the east. We are seeing that today to a much higher degree.

          Ask yourself this, how does the average civilian know who shelled them? Out of Ukraine and Russia who has an endless supply of shells?

        2. A whole whack of Russian speaking Ukrainians are out killing Russians. Five years ago a friend of a friend in Zaporizhzhia was pissed that her kids had to go to school in Ukrainian. Today she is wishing death to all Russians. Most Russian speakers are supporters of Ukraine. A similar situation might be Ireland where English speaking Irish are extreme nationalists.

          All russians in Ukraine were offered the opportunity to join a superior culture. Some joined others rejected. As a rule: when a savage rejects superior culture the value of their life is immediately zero.

          All russians in Ukraine east, west, Crimea, don’t matter where, are there as result of forced settlements and ethic cleansing, for centuries. They have no right to be russian in Ukraine anymore than one has aright to be Nazi in Israel. If they refuse to leave and be russian in russia they should be exterminated. The same should apply to russians elsewhere russia has occupied like Baltics, Georgia or Moldova.

          P.S. Azovs are not Nazis. Sparta reconnaissance battalion fighting for russians are Nazis.

    Psst…It’s the cheap materials that they keep changing over to…it’s breaking and blowing the pistons…but you didn’t get it from me.
    It’s going to get extremely difficult to build vehicles as well when countries making much needed parts aren’t sharing or hoarding these vital pieces…like memory chips.

        Yep…I can just see a Blast Furnace powered with Wind…or better yet one that produces Stainless – typically done today 100% Via Electric Furnace….and forget Aluminum production – that is near 95% ELECTRICITY of what goes into making it. so Stock up on Foil..!!

        As to vehicles, all I can say is my 06 LBZ Dmax..? best purchase I ever made, (Near as good as my wife..!!)

        If YOU OWN a Reliable Vehicle/Wife – Keep it.!! (if you can afford to run it that is…)

  11. The hotels (in Ontario and Manitoba) have an interesting new policy. If you stay more than one day the cleaning staff will not enter your room due to “ongoing covid restrictions”. They call it being safe. I call it training the monkeys.

    1. I noticed last time I stayed in a Toronto hotel. Less cleaning, but prices have not been lowered. They are just going to get away with a lower level of service.

  18. The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so “profound” that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well:

    Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle’s Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One anonymous student, however, wrote the following:
    “First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let’s look at the different religions that exist in the world today.
    Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.

    The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct … leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting ‘Oh my God.’
