The budget bill implements a Liberal Party campaign promise to slap a new tax on new cars and aircraft retailing for $100,000 or more and new boats sold for $250,000 or more. It is scheduled to take effect on Sept. 1.
That won’t hurt the elites, though. They’ll conveniently have another tax loophole available to them by which they can write off those costs.

Like all taxes. “It’s just for the rich! Tax the rich, I hate the rich. That tax will not affect me. We need the money to support our social programs and fund the government.” Then slowly but surely, we all get the tax applied to us. The “luxury tax” will be paid by all of us soon, very soon.
What airplane can you buy new for under $100k?
The short answer is none. My 60yo four seater is worth around $70k, a much updated version sells new for north of $1 million!
A nice single seat glider is over $100k new.

IIRC this was tried in the US some years back and was eventually abandoned because it hurt employees, employers and suppliers while the rich went elsewhere for their expensive toys.

Obviously this calls for a capital tax. The turd floated this idea long ago and they always tell us what they are going to do. In Australia there is a luxury car tax that kicks in at $69k. It was supposed to protect the Australian car industry somehow. Australia no longer has a car industry but the tax remains.
We used to have a plant nearby that makes yacht. Not Super Yacht, just yacht. The anti-luxury tax bill from the mid 80s killed it off for good.
The goal is the destruction of the country and our freedom. Prove me wrong.
