If there were reasons for an Indian Act back when the indigenous people were exposed to, and largely welcomed, rapid cultural change, those reasons no longer exist for the cell phone using thoroughly modern Indians of today.

Aboriginal title was extinguished in British Columbia prior to it joining Canada in 1871. About 30 years ago the jackasses on the Supreme Court of Canada revised the law of pre-confederation British Columbia without any legal basis. The Royal Proclamation of 1763 doesn’t apply to British Columbia, the Maritimes, Newfoundland, Rupertsland and the vast majority of Quebec and Ontario. It was meant to protect Indian land in the Ohio Valley and was a major cause of Americans throwing out the British.
Just like Canada got aboriginal title without any specific law, it will one day get sharia law because some dipshit on the Supreme Court says we have it.
