May 12, 2022: Reader Tips

Charleston, South Carolina is a magical place. I’m staying here this month and every day is full of wonder and magical sights. In doing my research, I came across this video by Jasmine Alley. Her video isn’t merely a travel vlog, it’s a piece of art.

Your artistic or more practical tips of the past day are much appreciated.

    1. Ha! Prinz Dummkopf can make the sun shine out of a different orifice! Top that, Madonna!

      Instead of NFT, he’s NFG.

  1. Russia’s death train: Bodies of Putin’s fallen troops are loaded into refrigerated carriages in Ukraine with morgue workers finding gold ‘looted from civilians’ on corpses
The Ukrainian army gave journalists access to the train carriage near Kyiv
Inside were dozens of white body bags filled with corpses of Russian soldiers
Morgue workers showed reporters handfuls of gold jewellery, allegedly looted
One Ukrainian colonel said Moscow had refused to claim its own dead

    1. Have you ever been in a war allen? I’m betting not.
Rule#1. Never-ever trust any info coming from either side. The only info you can trust comes from the troops who were there. Even that can be hard to figure out what really is or isn’t.
Now craw back into your CV hole.

      1. Problem, the data is not “from a side”.

You can check various OSINT sources. NASA fires is a good one, because you know exactly where the Russian artillery batteries are.

    1. I might look at it from time to time. However, I strongly disagree with the author’s review of Where Eagles Dare. I thought it was one of the worst movies I’d ever seen with a lot of things wrong with just the technical aspects.

Then again, I’m not entirely surprised as that was when Alistair MacLean started turning out rubbish.

      1. I disagree with you completely on this. Where Eagles Dare is an action movie predating its genre by decades. I love it just for that. I liked the book too. To each their own, I guess.

        1. Like I mentioned, the technical aspects of the movie were balderdash. The radio that was used was inappropriate (lots wrong there) and the helicopter was an anachronism.

I hated it when I first saw it about half a century ago. I saw it again when it was shown on Turner Classic Movies a few years back, and it hadn’t improved with age.

To paraphrase a line from the Monty Python sketch about Australian table wines, this movie is one for lying down and avoiding.

  2. Welcome to South Carolina. Hope you enjoy. While you are here make a day or weekend trip to the Upstate. You will not be disappointed.

    1. So that’s what two years of needless lockdowns does to some people……

  3. https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/hard-hat-revolution-as-another-construction-union-backs-fords-pcs

As we all know, the NDP, once the party of the private sector blue collar unions, has turned its back – or in Andrea Whorebath’s case, her fat ass – on the working man and woman.
Let’s face it, Hag Hilary was damned honest when she called us deplorables. The Laptop Losers all over North America nodded and smiled because they agreed.
Meanwhile, Liberals leaped left with Juthtin the Putz who pushed his anti-development/construction/energy/farming agenda while shitting on English speaking men: mancamps + fringe convoy = enmity.

So in a very short time alignments have changed dramatically.
Another subplot in the civil war.

    1. I was reminded of the fundamental ridiculousness of the Dippers a few days ago.

The chap I’ve been dealing with on the sale of my house is self-employed with his own one-man company. Because he’s a private firm, the B. C. government requires him to hold an annual meeting with both the management and employees, and record and submit the minutes of the proceedings.

One thing the government likes is its paper…..

        1. The best friend of my late cousin has a small company. I was told that while Wretched Rachel was premier, all firms of 5 or more people had to have a safety committee, along with all the trappings thereof.

The man’s firm had 5 employees, including himself….. I think you can figure out the rest of the story.

Of course, Knothead’s government insisted that farmers had to have a biffy installed at one corner of their fields. Like my late father would say in his German-accented English, “Real schmart.”

    1. Ah, Lucas. Prince of Darkness…

Ah, yes. I first became acquainted with Lucas’s dubious reputation while I had my first car in the late 1970s. I was thinking of adding some additional instruments and one after-market dealer carried Lucas gauges. I don’t recall the salesman I spoke with being enthusiastically encouraging me to buy them.

      1. Had a buddy who rode an old BSA 500 single, I had my Iron Sporty. We’d head out for an evening ride, hit a local watering hole en route, then come home. As young males are wont to do, there was often some hotrodding to be had on the way back. This was all well & fine until he’d miss a shift (which, curiously, seemed to be a direct effect of how much time we spent at the watering hole), redline the motor & because there was little along the lines of voltage regulation in your average Lucas charging system, there went the headlight. Often times I had to lead him home in the pitch dark ’cause both his high & low beams were gone. Ah, the memories…

  4. Hepatitis, huh?
Where have I heard that word lately?

“The Swedish study also found spike proteins expressed on the surface of the liver cells that researchers say may be targeted by the immune system and possibly cause autoimmune hepatitis, as “there [have] been case reports on individuals who developed autoimmune hepatitis after BNT162b2 vaccination.”

The authors of the first reported case of a healthy 35-year-old female who developed autoimmune hepatitis a week after her first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine said that there is a possibility that “spike-directed antibodies induced by vaccination may also trigger autoimmune conditions in predisposed individuals” as it has been shown that “severe cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection are characterized by an autoinflammatory dysregulation that contributes to tissue damage,” which the virus’s spike protein appears to be responsible for.”

  5. Chads are pro choice bro

    https://youtu.be/-FC1IRiJ9x0

Try watching that and imagine the chad replaced by PM Leisure Suit Larry and then tell me it isn’t plausible he would use the same arguments and I’ll tell you that you just remembered it differently

  6. Does anybody here know where one can find the list of the organizations that now officially hate Elon?

The list is mentioned at the 2:40ish mark of this video. Prior to that we learn our tax dollars are being spent degrading Elon.

  7. Can anyone justify why the conservative leadership race needs to continue for another three and a half months?
We have heard where they all stand and what their platforms are.
Expedite the vote and get to work.
    Not that it matters.

  8. The entire Charleston area is a great visit. Be sure to take a horse-drawn carriage ride from near the old straw market. And go over the bridge to Mt. Pleasant, and south a couple of miles to Beaufort (pro. ‘Bew-ferd’). Lots of fascinating Civil War history in that area. Enjoy!
