  1. Someone should tweet Lilley and point out that the same thing was done to Japanese and German Canadians during WW2, didn’t we learn anything from that? Oh yeah, governments APOLOGIZED for that treatment, though it took decades to do so.

    And how, pray tell, does one wage a war that is merely sweet and sensitive?

        As for russians living in the civilized world, they should all be allowed to apply for a refugee status if they denounce russia or be deported to Mexico. All russian dual nationals should be told to choose which passport they want to keep. If they choose a russian deport to Mexico.

        2. The spelling doesn’t necessarily mean anything. When immigrants showed up in Canada and I’m guessing the same applied at Ellis Is. in the States, many from Northern Europe had documentation in Cyrillic or Hebrew writing. A lot of what was transcribed into Canadian documentation was based on phonetics. It was the case with my Grandparents, in 1906, from Odessa.

  13. The Washington Capitals have gone on record to say what they think on this topic, as has Ovechkin, that he has friends and family in Russia who he fears would face retaliations, as well as stating he supports peace.

    Perhaps Mr. Lilley sees something there which isn’t so.

  30. I’m sorry to say that I held a measurable amount of respect for Brian Lilley when he was based in Ottawa, but Toronto has definitely changed him for the worse.
    That’s what Toronto does to people. It poisons the mind, feeding them a steady diet of Pablum and Kool-Aid.
