This evening we present the 1970 classic, Patton.
I have a personal story to share with you all. I’m here today because of George S. Patton. My dad was a young German teenager who was with his 5 younger siblings and their mother when they were relocated from their home in Silesia (then Germany, now Poland) from place to place to escape the Russians encroaching from the east. They eventually ended up in Pilsen, in the western part of the Czech Republic. In early May 1945 they were waiting for the Russians to arrive on a road from the east when suddenly a bunch of military vehicles started arriving on a road from the west. This was Patton’s 3rd Army that had gone beyond the German/Czech border and eventually arrived in Pilsen. My grandmother and her 5 children (one had died in recent days due to a tragic accident) were amongst the last German civilians loaded onto U.S. Army trucks and transported to Munich. Six years later my dad was a refugee on a freighter that arrived in Eastern Canada. Over the next few years he made his way out to Vancouver and the rest is history.
Here’s a wonderful discussion between Viva Frei and Dave from The Shed.
Bonus: Here are the next two video portraits of freedom protesters captured by YouTuber JB Morrison:

Patton is one of my favourite movies, featuring an excellent cast and one of Jerry Goldsmith’s best scores. Watch for Toronto-born Stephen Young as Major Chet Hansen, General Omar Bradley’s aide.
I’ve long looked for a recording of the soundtrack.
Some 20 years ago, I bought a DVD copy of the movie. It included a bonus which wasn’t mentioned on the box–an Easter egg, as it were. One day, I unintentionally let the disk play a bit longer at the menu and it turned out that it had the entire musical score, though, unlike a CD, I couldn’t select what I wanted to hear. Still, it was nice to hear the music as is.
On July 4, 1976, the CBC late night TV news commemorated the American Bicentennial by showing various film clips of certain events, including the Apollo 11 Lunar Module Eagle‘s final approach to its landing site on Mare Tranquillitatis. The background music was the opening theme to Patton.
Yes, it was one of my favorites as well. The world needs a Patton today.
B.A., here is my Patton story. My late father fought in Patton’s army, where at the beginning of the campaigns, in 1942, he married my mom in Algeria. Mom was a Spanish-Algerian in the small Spanish community in Algers, invaded by Patton’s army in 1942 I think.
My father was a morse-code radio operator in a battalion commander’s armored personal carrier, in an artillery unit. He was part of all of Patton’s campaigns– Algers, Sicily and the sweep across Europe. His battalion commander was a gung-ho artillery officer, and took his personel carrier in places it shouldn’t go, much to father’s chagrin. Near the end of the war his unit was near Munich Germany.
Rumours circulated that there was a concentration camp (the Buchenwald death camp) just north of Munich. Father’s gung-ho battalion commander ordered his personel carrier to drive to the camp just to look around. Anyone knows that artillery units have no business being near concentration camps. But father’s personel carrier entered the camp in the afternoon. The first units into the camp, recon units, came in the morning, and were so upset and angry they shot 200 German guards out of hand (this according to historical documents I have read).
All I know is that a week later my father had a nervous breakdown, and spent two months recuperating at a mental hospital in Germany. As a young boy in the 1950s I remember father as an angry man — not much of a father to me. He hated my older sister, and yelled and mentally hazed her every day. In her late teens she suffered a number of mental breakdowns, suffering from mental illness all of her life, to the point where she could never hold a job or raise a family. At my age of 12 on, I was an “older” brother to her, something I never wanted or liked doing.
Sorry for the long post, but the Buchenwald extermination camp has been a big part of my life. I detest totalitarian and authoritarian thinking of both the left and the right. I detest the lying, killing and the huge human rights abuses that both regimes undertake. I detest the lying and cheating. See the Awful Truth’s post on this threat as an example of this.

The internet is afire with rumors of a new, un-authorized biography of Hillary Clinton, titled, “How to Win Friends and Leave People to Die in Benghazi.”
“What difference does it make?”
My sentiment exactly. What difference does anything about Hillary make?
Interesting family story Robert…
My maternal grandparents hailed from “FRANKENSTEIN” in Schlesien about 70 km south of “Fortress Breslau” run by Gauleiter Hanke the ‘hangman of Breslau’ back in 1945. Which in itself was a singular “sh*tshow” in WWII history.
https://ww2gravestone.com/gauleiter-karl-hanke/
One of the family jokes is that I can honestly say that my mother comes from Frankenstein… 🙂
The family wound up billeting Russian officers in their villa, one of which, would casually wander up and down the hallway with pistol in hand, cocked and loaded. Whilst my maternal grandmother was making the billeted soldiers a meal, she got rather annoyed ‘walking on eggshells’ in her own home; whereupon she lit into the Russian officer and yelled at him: “Nun schieß doch mal, oder leg die Pistole weg!” (Well shoot already, or holster your pistol!)
She went on to live out to age 96… They were expelled from their family home in 1946 at the point of machine pistols; being allowed to pack belongings for a 15 minute interval. This allowed for some underwear, toothbrushes (as grandfather was a dentist), the family tree, and a few treasured photos of better times which was my grandfathers hobby.
The old family villa was then turned into the local Polish police constabulary; which it is to this day.
Meanwhile, my mother’s family nearly starved, in the balmy heat of winter, surviving on herbs, grasses and dandelion soup, from boiled snow. Obviously not a swell family vacation.
40 years later my mother would still occasionally wake up screaming in the middle of the night…no doubt some latent PTSD.
The Russian-Ukraine idiocy brings back such warm memories… 🙂

We have no idea how bad man’s inhumanity to his fellow man can get. The things I have read disgust me.
I’ve mentioned this before but it’s worth repeating.
My mother told me stories of what happened when the Red Army came to Berlin. Like your grandmother, her family had Soviets billeted in their house.
My mother didn’t have a high opinion of them, though she was grateful for the care given her by a medical officer. She was in hospital with scarlet fever during the final weeks of the war but was forced to leave because of the impending invasion.
Eventually, our part of the city came under British control. The Spandauers considered the Tommies as liberators from the Soviets.
Okay, I’m plugging the neighbour’s books but they are a worthwhile read.

And what, pray, had become of your grandfather?
Because only the worst cynic would dream of suggesting that he had been put down by a Russian boy charged with defending his motherland from Germans who had plotted to deport his own family to Siberia to end their days in slavery—and liberating the death camps built by Germans in Poland for good measure.
Either way, the German attempt to solve the Jewish and Slav problems ended with Russia’s solution of the German problem in central and eastern Europe.
Tell us again what horrible things the Russians did to your tribe, simply because you wanted to enslave or kill them all, you poor things.
Russians will always defend themselves against barbarians who thirst for Russian blood, and win.
Every time the barbarians forget that, the price goes up.
Go on. Cheer for the Ukrainian Nazis with Chrystia Freeland. This time Patton isn’t coming to save you from the consequences of your actions.
Give Oma our regards.
Deliberately stalling the advance during the Warsaw uprising to allow the Germans to fully crush it.
Couldn’t have a Polish Government in Warsaw before the Soviet tanks got there. That might be awkward. Might have brought up more attention to how Stalin and his best bud A.H. invaded Poland from both ends in 1939.
Don’t play the Saint card. It makes you look awful in front of people who know the truth.
T.A.T.: your mind is really out there, isn’t it? I like your writing for its unintended self-parody. It that sense it is not fully devoid of value.
You have mentioned Russia/Russian 5 times while Soviet has not been mentioned once.

I know Colonialista isn’t going to be pleased, but I’m going to cut TAT some slack.
Although I still think Put-put’s aggression is unwarranted, I will have to admit that the media “reports” of heroic Ukrainians is somewhat turning into propaganda.
I’ve already seen false accounts regarding the attack on the nuclear power plant, the ghost of Kiev, the infamous story of heroic border guards that said “F-Off” to the Russians and were supposedly killed (but in fact surrendered).
Major credit cards, financial institution, and hi-tech pulling out of Russia will only serve to destroy the U.S. dollar. Jack Posobiec tweeted that Russian banks just switched from Visa to Chinese card system “UnionPay.”
I’ve seen the likes of George Soros come out and support Ukraine, and Western leaders seemingly hungering for war with Russia:
“The current U.S. Administration must thoroughly rethink its foreign policy. All diplomatic attempts to stop Putin have failed. The only way to stop him can only be a rapid military intervention.” –George Soros
That alone should be enough to raise anyone’s eyebrow.
I’ve also heard (but not reported in the media) that Put-put has put forward a cease-fire proposal that isn’t entirely unreasonable:
– A neutral Ukraine with no nukes.
– No NATO
– No Nazis
(yes, I’ve seen MANY “blood and soil” banners flying next to those Ukraine flags in those “I stand with Ukraine” protests.)
If you were the U.S., how would you like to have Russian missiles stationed in Cuba? Russia, like the U.S. does not like a potential enemy nestling in on the doorstep of it’s borders.
Then there’s all those U.S. Bio Labs in Ukraine, some of which are very close to the Russian border, which would make anyone uncomfortable.
ASB NEWS: “Russia publishes documents which show Ukraine was working on biological weapons near Russian borders — such as Anthrax and Plague & that the Pentagon has instructed to destroy them — violating Article 1 UN prohibition of biological weapons. –These are US funded labs.”
And I’ve seen vids of Ukrainian military officers burning documents outside the defense ministry HQ building. Why would they be doing that? (Seems that the US has had its hand into quite a few black ops. First Wuhan, now this.)
I’ve also learned that both Zelensky and Put-put are both WEF members, which suggests that this whole affair is somehow orchestrated.
Zelensky is also corrupt. He was inspired to go into politics by… wait for it… another WEF member – Justin Trudeau. According to Victor Zubarev, Zelensky has accumulated $1.2 BILLION U.S. in a bank in Costa Rica, and bought a $34 Million villa in Miami. He started receiving payments into offshore bank accounts as far back as 2012. He smells like an op.
Candace Owens tweeted: “We have reached peak wartime propaganda in both West and East. If you are not susceptible to propaganda–then you are sitting back realizing that everything you ever learned about history is a lie.
Catturd tweeted: “We’ve been lied to so much, I’m starting to question gravity.”
Although I’m beginning to see things from Russia’s perspective, I still can’t agree that any of this is a justification for the invasion of Ukraine.
The moral of the story, kids, is that you can’t trust ANYTHING you’re hearing about Ukraine and Russia from the legacy media. There are no angels in this conflict on EITHER SIDE. The whole affair is nuanced. What I am convinced of is that this is yet another major pivot point that will eventually usher in a new world order, and that’s going to make life miserable for everyone.
Stalin’s Red Army was well known for brutally raping the women. Even those women just out of the concentration camps had to watch their backs.

Possibly the stupidest thing anyone has ever published in the Canadian media.
A serious little potato. And I laughed and I laughed and I laughed. Zelynsski’s cat has bigger balls.

The part time lawyer will no doubt come out soon with an endorsement for the fat little turd Charest on Thursday.
Which begs the question, out of all the possible contestants for conservative leader, who could have or has been considering Charest?
It only makes sense if you want someone that makes Trudeau look good or has no discernible opinion from Trudeau.
Now who might fall into that category?

That’s the first time “pulled out” and Pornhub have ever been used in the same sentence. (Zing!)

Pilsen – the birthplace of Pilsner beer. Nice!
Was a soldier in Pilsen 1965 -1967.
Got to drink the real Pilsner Urquel 12 percent beer right at the brewery.
It is not 12% (alcohol), a 12 “degree” beer has about 5% alcohol content.
12% is what it says.
Go argue with the brewery.
