I am asking Ottawa followers of this blog to make use of the Ottawa police website for reporting hate crimes and submit one about Trudeau’s calling a jewish MP a nazi in response to a question she posed. I had tried to report his previous characterization to those of us who don’t wish to get a Covid vaccination….the one in September where I was categorized as anti-science, racist and misogynist. My report was rejected with the statement that they were only accepting complaints from citizens of Ottawa. So any citizens of Ottawa out there?

  13. Do not be surprised at any of this. Ottawa city councilors are deeply stupid. Under the leadership of Jim Watson the mayor, they’ve blown billions on an Ottawa subway system that doesn’t work and for which there is no credible date as to when it will ever work. Ottawa citizens are angry about this with these turds, and they know it. They are all up for re-election this summer. Frightened of the consequences, Jimbo has already indicated he will not be running again. But that hammer may come down on many or all of them.

    Now the truckers and the visible inability of Council to do anything about it. Hence, they are in a panic. After years of huge mismanagement, these fools are receiving the fate they so richly deserve.

    1. Will the truckers have been resident in Ottawa long enough to be eligible to vote in or run for municipal office? Pat King for Mayor?

  20. I could barely watch a minute of it. So the gist of it seemed to be, “Here are the roads we’re going to close off so the truckers don’t block them — yeah, that’ll show them!!!” Did the thought of actually talking to the truckers ever cross anyone’s mind?

  29. Well, there was a couple of Councillors that seemed sane (Rick Chiarelli and one other I didn’t catch the name of.) They were like a couple of salmon trying to swim upstream against a torrent of crazy and incompetence though.

    The rest of this bunch match well with Douglas Adams’ description of the Vogons in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

    That one Councillor that resigned regarding her position on the Police Services Board and did so right at the very end leaving them all in a tizzy and a snit about the meeting going any longer though; that was comedy gold.

  33. My fellow Canadians. I want to call your attention to the fact that both highlights in the update, feature two declared candidates for mayor of your capital city in this fall’s elections.

    Isn’t that special?

    You’re probably asking yourself, how could people vote these woke politicians and life-long bureaucrats into public office as their respective ward’s city councilors.

    The same way this city voted in someone like Jim Watson as mayor. You got to realize that the most of the people who live in this town are government plebes who don’t have the skills to do much of anything else, so they leach off the rest of your taxes to pay their bloated salaries and golden parachute pensions. There’s no manufacturing base here, so there’s really no “blue-collar base” to support candidates that would actually care for the middle class.

    With the exception of councilors like Jan Harder and Rick Chiarelli, and maybe one or two others, the entire city council and the mayor are hard-left, woke, collectivist, identity political loons. Progressive in every sense of the word. Deans just about admitted tonight that Sloly was an affirmative-action hire (hired because he was black).

    You should have seen the rest of Dean’s speech and her rancorous ramblings. I swear, she really is insane! I honestly believed that she was going to have a nervous breakdown right there on the zoom call. I believe Deans is out as OPSB Chair, if I understood the vote correctly.

    Meanwhile, I just made myself a tub of popcorn to watch all this. It’ll be interesting to see what’s going to happen this weekend. It’s quite possible that OPS is bluffing, but if they are, more heads are going to roll, so if I were to suggest anything to the Truckers, it’s to be ready for anything when you call.

    But don’t blame her for what she does on Ottawa council, blame the people that voted for her.
    As an aside, if Doug Ford was willing to invoke the NWSC to reduce the size of Toronto city council, I think he didn’t go far enough. Like as in about a 2-3 hour drive eastward.

  36. McKenney’s supposedly the front runner for the Mayor’s job. With Deans gone, so far, her only competition is former mayor Bob Chiarelli, another Liberal retread like Watson. It’s only going to get worse. The rural/semi-rural area I live in could have joined the adjoining municipality during amalgamation, but instead voted to join the City of Ottawa, who proceeded to raid the reserve funds of the outlying municipalities (Goulbourn, City of Nepean). Goulbourn was smart and spent theirs on a new arena before Ottawa could get their mitts on it and blow it on fixing their neglected infrastructure. Nepean was debt free and well managed until Ottawa took over.
