    1. Good question. Your surmise may well be correct. And where are the trucks. I read last night that there are (also) a good number of trucks on the U.S. side. A photo was shown but identifying where it was taken is difficult. If it’s true, it’s being hidden. Will try to find that story again. I saw it on a Telegram account, as I recall.

    These protests are going to change politics and politicians across all levels of government. These protests might even change policing in Canada. These protests and the whole pandemic should also change our response to future pandemics and emergencies, hopefully making the response actually protect the vulnerable and ensure freedom for everyone.

    But what the hell are we going to do with people who would turn on their neighbours like this? The boiling hatred that normal everyday people have for other normal everyday people is far more frightening than the pandemic (when much was unknown about it in the early days), and even more so than the government over response and exploitation of the pandemic.

    This hatred runs deep. There appear to be fewer of them, but what they lack in numbers they make up for in sheer frothing hatred.

      I have heard that this kind of response may be be due to this:
      They feel they acted correctly and believe this is a righteous choice. Therefore anyone who DIDN’T, or (appears to agree with those who did not consent) to do the right thing, must be punished. Not sure if this really is the mechanism at play here, or if we simply have a bunch of sadists in our midst?

      Either way, I again ask why is their “hate” allowed to be posted on Twitter?

  9. After seeing the aerial update, I’m convinced this is staged. Those are not real protesters. If this is the real blockade, why is Huron Church Road totally empty south of the protesters that are currently being pushed back? Where are the trucks and tractors?

    I’m not saying there’s no blockade or protest in Windsor. But I do doubt that what is shown in these aerial shots is the main protest or blockade. There is something about it that really just does not look right. It almost looks like a training exercise.

    2. Yes I tend to agree. Given the sizeable police presence , my first thought is who is flying a drone other than someone onside with the cops ? Besides it would be easy for whoever is controlling the drone to pan around to show the actual bridge , but they didn’t.

      If it was a Joe Citizen flying a drone overhead of the cops there is s good chance it would have been shot down by the cops.

  10. Can’t help but be a little disappointed on bother sides of this.
    On one hand where are the protestors and why so many cops for so few people?
    On another since when is that considered a protest?
    I lived in Caledonia during one of the many native occupations (the one that still remains after 15 years at Douglas Creek). They brought in the RCMP but those protesters were protected and no one really arrested, given what took place in the first year. Our town was tormented by protesters and the Hells Angels at that time kindly came to back them up. They drove through the neighbourhoods with guns, people were brutally assaulted. Homes were burned and vandalized. Homes on the site were blown up (they started a meth lab), demolished, the road was dug up, hydro station drove into. For a few days some parts of town lost hydro. Equipment was stollen, lit on fire and nothing done. 2 main access routes to town were blocked for months on end and one being a major truck route for US Steel (protestors throwing rocks from the overpass on vehicles meant close the road but don’t stop the violence). An elementary school backing onto the land claim was temporarily closed for safety concerns. No cop made a move.
    That land remains under occupation, yet here we have Douche Ford now declaring Ottawa under siege? No one has lost power, no bike gangs with guns tormenting locals, no explosions or vandalism, no brutality… So I am guessing the definition of a siege is national anthem singing, bouncy castles, block parties, community meals, feeding homeless, shoveling and cleaning up the sidewalks and streets. Not actual violence.
    With this new law on protesting being illegal will they now be stopping the BLM protests, the various marches for countries and cultures that happen weekly in Toronto, the Childs Lives Mater walks, the anti-whatever rallies on street corners? How is it that gay pride day/week/month/entire summer of streets closed for the promotion of whatever pronouns someone came up with can be considered a celebration rather than a protest and yet they are ultimately doing the same thing year after year… Shutting down streets, blowing horns, playing music, street parties, BBQ, raising flags, showing love and kindness. Not an attack on LGTBQ, just it’s literally the same thing as a protest for inclusion, freedom to make their own bodily choices, freedom to be part of a free society. By D Ford’s definition of “siege” they are the same thing.

  11. Taken at face value, that aerial view would indicate that up to maybe 100 protestors with a dozen small vehicles have manipulated the authorities into closing the border crossing. Not bad. Of course, this could just be the tail end of a bigger protest and the police are just waiting the remainers out.

    In any other country you would say the footage was fake because many of the police vehicles are parked up on the protestor side of the line. But this is Canada and a protest by Canadians rather than leftist freaks, so the govt. property is safe.

    1. CBSA needs to explain why it let people without work permits in. There are also requirements to temporarily import vehicles and machinery that obviously have not been met. Whether right on the border or 1,000 miles inland, the rules are the rules.

    1. Listening to the Roy Green show this afternoon and the Ipsos poll today showed 48 percent of Canadians having sympathy with the protesters. Much higher numbers in the west than the east, and more by conservatives than liberals if course. Interesting that 60 % of the 18 to 45 age group are in favour. These are the people most affected by lockdowns.

      1. That’s close to half of the country. An Angus Reid poll last week had 54% of Canadians wanting mandates lifted. They have not come up with any rationale for why we still need masks, quarantine, segregation of unvaxed or forced vaccines. Enough already. Government needs to end this by showing good will and lifting the pointless restrictions. The virus is largely gone.

  20. Hold that line! I just got back from the protest on Huron Church. As of 3pm there are a lot more protesters than cops. Cops on the line are from London, OPP and RCMP. The police line has only moved about 100m from the original protest. All is peaceful. We tried to get the driver of the assault vehicle to Honk his horn but he didn’t. There is also a smaller blockade at the corner of Tecumseh and Huron Church. Came home to warm up and have some dinner; will go back to the protest later. If your going to the protest be sure to dress warm.

  27. Weather was beautiful in Southern Alberta today so we went down to the Milk River blockade (20kms north of Coutts) today

    Tons of people. They are organized! Refer trailers for food, rows of commercial grills cooking food, bouncy castle and straw bale forts for the kids, 3 different live bands playing in 3 different areas at the same time, an airplane sky writing happy faces overhead and EVERYONE SMILING!! (Lots of flags that people were carrying indicated that they wanted to make love to Trudeau – couldn’t figure that one out)

    Weather tomorrow is supposed to be just as nice so I’m sure it will be a repeat
