ages ago tried to get a Lieberal mp to prove foreign aid to ahfricah was making a reasonable difference.
bafflegab for about 2 years, then threatened with trespassing charges at the constituency orifice.
found out soon after in an editorial: squandered as usual, no auditing, no oversight, no measurements taken.
spend spend spend
When the goal is to bankrupt the country (cloward and piven style) do they really care where the money goes, so long as it goes?
Crony Cash for Corruption it’s the LIEberal way!
Meanwhile, the BC Dept of Low-ways couldn’t engineer crap.
I looked at the Othello washout on the Coquihalla, the south, middle and north spans ALL COLLAPSED.
100 year flood engineering? Not in this millennia or the next!
We are surrounded and lead by corrupt idiots, “from sea to sea, from the rivers to the ends of the earth.”

It didn’t do that great a job of clearing the highway from Fort St. John to the provincial border, at least earlier in the week, while I was on my way back to Edmonton. Lots of slushy spots, making it slippery in places.
Then again, Lotusland doesn’t really care about the Peace River country.
Once I was back in Alberta, there was a definite difference in the road conditions, at least until I was leaving Whitecourt, but that’s another story.
Actually that highway is pretty amazing. It was built in record time and is the last great infrastructure project that’ll ever be built in BC. Now it takes 7 years to build a 50 meter span in downtown Victoria.
Yup.
After my father died nearly 5 years ago, I drove to my house in B. C. for a while. The section of the Alaska Highway through the Peace River valley was always tricky, particularly south of Taylor (or, South Taylor Hill, as the locals call it).
I hadn’t driven there for many years and I was quite pleased that the changes that were made in between time. North Taylor Hill now had a passing lane on the way up, but South Taylor Hill had them only halfway, starting from the river, as, at the time, construction crews were still working on it.
And that’s where it stopped. Horgan was elected and, once that work was done, that was it. So, each time I drive to my house now, the upper half of South Taylor Hill is as treacherous as before. If Lotusland actually gave a rat’s patootie about that part of the province, that section of the highway could have passing lanes all the way up.
Well, it’s not as if any Chinaman in his right mind will ever settle there, except to take a position as a guard at a re-education/organ-harvesting facility.
Not commenting on the overall project…but the Othello bridge lost south, centre AND north spans; indicating foundation problems. ie poor engineering.
My hydro-electric engineer father weeps from Heaven’s Gate!

It seems that way with all the damage that’s occurred, but an acquaintance pointed out that in a rainstorm event like last weekend’s the most likely BC highway to be wiped out used to be the Hwy 99 between North Van and Squamish, taking out up to three bridges. That highway was redone before the 2010 Olympics and I believe it stayed open. So maybe there has been some improvement in the 25 years between design and construction of the Coquihalla and the Sea to Sky highways.
Sadly nobody cares anymore. What used to be scandalous is now just shrugged off when Libs in charge. The Dunce Trudeau could have showed up on Remembrance Day and took a crap on the cenotaph and all would have gushed how it smells like lilacs. It is all just noise. Depressing. We are doomed.
Just wait for winter to come.
Darwin’s will be done.
Was I the only one triggered by the colonialism in the post title?
The country is corrupt and the electorate is complacent.
Get what you can and fuck your neighbors.
its the Canadian way.
humans are stuck with our self-defining situation – we can complain about computer modeling and “experts” – but if you really want to see how screwed up it gets, you need not look any further than your local, regional, or national government. this is how it has always been and how it will remain for the unforeseeable future. 🙂 you better laugh, because otherwise, it will make you cry.
the french novel, Le Père Goriot by Balzac will provide an excellent illustration of “the human comedy.”
