Besides cutting Australia coal to China, the ‘weather’ and not ‘climate’ has made alot of rain…and I mean alot.
It has flooded some coal mines and made hydro power challenging as well.
China is diverting coal from other countries that needs it as well.
That snowball effect that I’ve been showing on globalization has taken effect and can only move faster and be more challenging.
Closed companies that supplied the more essential parts are closed or delayed along with the supply chain backed up and broken.
Many suppliers are in chaos now too as they’ve got no place else to go.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I have two problems with nuclear…
(1) Like hydrocarbons, it’s a consumable, internet search for global uranium consumption, nuclear requires huge mining and processing (powered by hydrocarbons).
(2) Present governments are too pervasively corrupt and incompetent, any major switch to nuclear is too costly, a $750 million nuke plant will cost $6 billion, probably more by the time everyone connected to the government has wet their beaks.
I’m not saying I’m against nuclear, I’m saying it’s only possible if the private sector does it and the government clears the way for them, and I can’t see that happening.

I read an article many years ago call Understanding E=mc2. It really opened my eyes to the power of nuclear and the futility of “renewables”. Here’s a couple of paragraphs. The info on wind and solar in the article is fascinating.
One elementary source of comparison is to consider what it takes to refuel a coal plant as opposed to a nuclear reactor. A 1000-MW coal plant – our standard candle – is fed by a 110-car “unit train” arriving at the plant every 30 hours – 300 times a year. Each individual coal car weighs 100 tons and produces 20 minutes of electricity. We are currently straining the capacity of the railroad system moving all this coal around the country. (In China, it has completely broken down.)
A nuclear reactor, on the other hand, refuels when a fleet of six tractor-trailers arrives at the plant with a load of fuel rods once every eighteen months. The fuel rods are only mildly radioactive and can be handled with gloves. They will sit in the reactor for five years. After those five years, about six ounces of matter will be completely transformed into energy. Yet because of the power of E = mc2, the metamorphosis of six ounces of matter will be enough to power the city of San Francisco for five years.

Converted into electricity in existing plants, the following fuels will each produce the indicated electricity per kilogram:
Coal: 3 kWh;
Oil: 4 kWh;
Natural gas: 8kWh (at STP);

A slight correction. Nuclear fuel rods are indeed only slightly radioactive when they are manufactured. Uranium has very little radioactivity. However their radioactivity is enormous when removed from a reactor after use. Just five years in water storage within the plant means they have cooled sufficiently to go into dry storage where they can be kept permanently if one so chooses.
And about fuel tonnages you are entirely correct. The average nuclear power plant anywhere in the world uses about 150 tonnes of fuel per year. In volume, it’s trivial. A plant’s entire annual fuel supply, if gathered in one place, would make a cube of about 3 metres.
