Ventilators will help haul a seriously ill elderly patient in otherwise top physical condition to time limited but relative safety. For the other 90+ %, their future is closer to a full medevac facing unexpected headwinds while low on fuel, flying over water close to the freezing point. Reaching land will be helpful but survival will still be somewhat problematic.

what makes this even worse is that medtronix released full plans for the respirator so that other companies could make them in the interest of helping out in the pandemic, and it appears that several companies took those plans, and used them to enrich themselves at taxpayer expense
