62 Replies to “Toronto Star-O’Toole Is Trump”

    1. Oh look! Another crazed white racist antivaxxer! That’s the only kind that exist according to CBC.

  1. Malick is the dimmest of the dim bulbs. If Otoole was even 10% of the way to being Trump I’d probably vote for him.

      1. Let’s face it–she’s a cµnt. That’s not a word I use very often, but she’s earned it.

        1. That implies a certain warmth, depth, and possibility someone may enjoy interaction. I don’t think she has earned it.

  2. Mallick’s been a mewling midwit her entire career. I’m still stunned she has any audience at all. I haven’t read anything of hers in close-on two decades at least.

    1. I used to read the Mop and Pail (as, I believe, Alan Fotheringham called it). I remember coming across her drivel and I thought she was a twit back then.

      1. I read it nigh on 40 years ago. After a while I started referring to it as “Toronto’s National Newspaper”. I would always get corrected by the nitwits. “You mean ‘Canada’s National Newspaper'”. In reply I would only say “Do I?” and stare back. Some would get the nuance. Some wouldn’t. This was in the West, for gawd’s sake! The servility of so many here is bred in.

By the way, I see Foth is getting mentioned a bit in recent threads. He was always good for a chuckle. We could certainly use his light touch and relatively independent thought now. Like so many other ink-stained dabblers back in the day, he really wasn’t enamoured of Trudeau. I was dismayed to read here that Foth didn’t have command of the language as does Lord Black. At any rate, no one would ever be able to persuade me that the good doctor would have endorsed Junior. Not in a month of G&T-filled Sundays!

        1. I’m pretty sure it was Foth that gave it that nickname. On the other hand, I recall the old Frank used it as well, so it might have been the original source.

          1. I read both as well. I thought I had come up with that epithet, but if you’re familiar with it too I guess not. In my senility, I am apparently developing Trudeau syndrome, thinking the world revolves around me.

  3. Iam a 46yr member of the Royal Canadian Legion
I wonder what Ms Malice would think of me and our members across Canada that support our troops, young and old, those that came back safe, those that were injured, some with lifetime disabilities, some that never recover from wounds that are not visible, some that end up on the streets, and those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.
We support them all, and our local communities, we make donations to hospitals to help buy much needed equipment, we support LTHC in donations for beds for our senior vets.
These endeavors are done year round, not just on Nov. 11th which is our biggest fundraiser. These thousands of volunteers work countless hours to achieve our main goal,
Supporting Our Troops and their families.
So I say again I wonder what Ms Malice would say about me and our organization,
And BTW yes I support our local conservative MP a retired veteran former Colonel in the armed forces and I support OToole.

    1. I thank you sir, in all sincerity, for your service, and commitment to this country, even now. I wish I can share in your patriotism, and devotion. At one point in my life, I was able to, but that part of me is dead now, and I fear that the rest of me may not be far behind.

    2. I am also a long time Legion member and past Branch President of 4 years. I completely agree with your comments regarding veterans both young and old. Many small communities in this country benefit from the presence of their local Legion Branch. Without volunteers local Legion Branches could not exist and as you have said thousands of hours of volunteer effort go into supporting our troops and their families. I ask voters to remember the time when Justin Trudeau told a veteran” we just don t have the money to give you what you are asking for”. However he was willing to give the WE organization almost a BILLION dollars of taxpayer money for some scam they had created in Kenya! I also will support Erin O Tool, not my first choice Polievre was, but he is the only hope to get rid of Trudeau.

    3. Regardless of what she would say: Thank you for who you are, and what you supported.

We may have differences in the future, but that’s only because of the promise that you have kept. For which I think you.

  4. like canadian mo dowd, there’s an australian version that tim blair used to ridicule

    1. I’ve forgotten her name too offhand but I recall she was taken in by a Nigerian-prince email fraud. Our moral and intellectual superiors in action. [Maggie? Maud?]

  5. Can’t see the connection.
    O’Toole is former military.
    Trump never served.
Where’s this batshit woman coming from???

    1. She is seeing how badly Trudeau is doing and she thinks if she points at O’Toole and shouts “Trump!” it might help. Unfortunately for Canada, O’Toole is to Trump like Ferrari is to a minivan.

      1. O’Toole is to Trump like Ferrari is to a minivan.

“Trump is to O’Toole like Ferrari is to a minivan.”

Fixed it for you. O’Foole could never be likened to a Ferrari.

  6. As if.

Mallick has been sporadically excruciatingly funny. She decided to become ‘relevant’, and the funny wore off. Pity …. the role of spinny ditz suited her, sort of Lucille Ball on amphetamines.

  7. Wait a minute, Trump is literally Hitler, ergo O’Toole is Hitler too. Ok glad we go this established. Is there someone to the right of Che Guevara that isn’t Hitler btw?

  8. I almost finished the first sentence.
Couldn’t get past “American style politics”.

    1. I have skimmed the whole pile of manure. It does not get any smarter. She is a rabid America hater incapable of controlling her hate. Pure evil. She represents everything I despise. She’d send all SDA into gulag overnight.

  9. If you haven’t noticed … when Byedin-Heiress referenced Trump … blaming the slaughter of US soldiers on him … it didn’t go well. Byedin-Heiress is even MORE reviled after that pathetic show of wormlike behavior.

This comparison won’t turn out well for Boy-sock in pussy-PM

  10. Liberals and their media hacks haven’t been too active on US politics since Dementia Joe took over. They may want to refer to the saying, “be careful what you wish for”.

  11. Nope, Max Bernier is closer to being Trump, O’Toole is more similar to Mitch McConnell or Mitt Romney.

Most of the vaccine-hesitant protest movement has gravitated towards the PPC, and I noticed they have risen a bit in the polls to 3.7%. That is about twice what they managed in the last election.

O’Toole will probably try to sound ambivalent on vaccines and masks, to try to stay open to those voters perhaps making a last-minute decision to hold their noses and vote against the left. I don’t think it’s worth his time to cater very much to the PPC support base, we are immovable for reasons that go far deeper than any one issue.

But there is always a path to re-uniting the right, it has to be done in a way that prevents vote splitting but allows the PPC some representation. We need Max and a few others like him in the House (ideally a lot more, but being a realist, I would say let’s get some in) and we need the CPC to stop trying to be a Liberal lite non-alternative, and to grow a pair.

The level of political analysis in our mainstream media is an absolute joke, it seems like they give prospective writers a test and if you pass the test you don’t get the job. The connection with reality is virtually non-existent.

    1. Max is much more libertarian than the loose cannon populist.

Heather Malice is a professional anti-Conservative so she just invents narratives like this that demonstrate industrial scale hypocrisy. Her anti-American bravado was nowhere to be found when she, like the rest of the Canadian establishment, was dripping with Obama-envy.

    2. “Nope, Max Bernier is closer to being Trump, O’Toole is more similar to Mitch McConnell or Mitt Romney.”

In terms of political knife fighters, McConnell is one of the best; if O’Toole had half of the acumen Mitch “the murder turtle” McConnell had, Trudeau would not have called this election.

Mittens, or Liz Cheney, Murkowski, or that one who cried at the Jan 6 thing; THAT is O’Toole to a T. A squish without equal or peer.

  12. Why Malice is so right, even I can see the similarities..
OToole spent 12 years taking orders.Dependent on taxpayers dollars every day.
Trump spent decades risking his wealth on the strength of his judgement and giving orders.
For sure one and the same..

  13. So they’re getting Mallice to do a conservative leader is Trump advert.

First, when he was chosen leader, every conservative soon found out what a squish he was and the suggestion that he is like Trump has no plausible credibility.
Second, the liberals have been trying everything and nothing seems to be working.
Abortion, SSM, private healthcare, all the usual scares and it’s not moving the needle.
So if Mallice is writing this flaccid diatribe it came direct from Telford, who likely is getting bad news from her dad about voter intentions from the polls they don’t publish.
    That’s my theory anyways.

  14. So he has actually been deployed to combat zones, and he is this clueless? That is a rare accomplishment. One would think, given his campaigning, that stupidity should have been fatal by now.

    1. Looks like O’Toole is planning on the NDP supporting his agenda when he gets a minority government. How else could his Red Tory policies be explained. I’ll be “wasting” my vote in a brain-dead (safe) NDP riding by voting for Max.

  15. The problem is Trump looks good compared to the current negligent in chief.

Comparisons to Andropov and Konstantinov seem more apt.

And Biden looks cogent and focused compared to our blackface of white supremacy.

IOW Grit Canada TV aka CBC et al has a lot of work to do.

  16. Haven’t read a column of hers in years. And she hasn’t changed a bit. Ignorance personified.

  17. Typical Liberal media bigotry, used over and over and over again: “The Conservative is just like that evil American, __________.”

    1. There a he!! of a lot of us Conservatives that wish that O Tool was more like Donald Trump so hopefully this clueless commie will get us a little more support from the non kool aid drinkers!

  18. Rumour has it Junior’s hitting the expensive scotch and listening to “Eve Of Destruction”

He got a call today from “The Iron Heel” that rules The Party.

  19. Interesting that she compares o’Toole to Trump partially based on his attachment to the flag through his military career. Definitely a poor attempt to pile on to the old anybody but Trump bandwagon. Its old news Heather. Everyone has moved on. And as we all know Trump never served in the military. She can’t see that the flag is a symbol of national pride not a partisan statement? Her entire column is nothing more than a pile of poorly written excuses for the disaster that is the Trudeau campaign. Its so superficial. Why do they keep publishing this woman?

  20. I read it all…unfortunately. I’ve never read anything she’s written before, but jeez, what myopic diatribe of puss! I found vomit inducing “malice” in every second sentence. Oh yeah, and I won’t be reading anything else she might write. A perfect example of a stuck up clueless lefty, that has a bad case of superiority complex!
