  2. Masks are for the most part a “magical thinking talisman” as used by the general public.

    if you are using them in a health care setting, and your government operated health care collective actually has spent their ppe budget properly, you are replacing your mask multiple times per day.

    the policies we were given for work were completely impossible to comply with, because the person writing them didn’t work in the field.

    1. Masks are simply toilet paper for the face. How so? Masks are the same unconscious psychological urge by (some) people who stocked-up on toilet paper at the start of the government-sponsored pandemic. Psychologists say the hoarding of toilet paper is part of a subconscious urge to “take control” of natural events too big to control. It’s a desperate attempt to “save your life”. Of course, hoarding goods only makes the situation worse for everyone … but those hoarders don’t care … they only care about themselves.

      So put your double and triple masks on … because Fauxci said that would be AWESOME! You can sit at home and triple mask so your preschooler won’t infect you. Phew! Don’t you feeeeeeeeeeeeel better now? You’re in total “control” … Right? Shhhhh … Nevermind the ACTUAL science … it’s all about feeeeeeeeeelings.

  3. Funny how the bulk of the literature on masks, pre 2020, was that it was ineffective against viruses such as the flu. Of course it all changed when they (the politicians) needed to “do something”. What burns my butt is the so called experts hopping on this useless train of virtue signaling. If you can’t be professional and do the right thing by pointing out the vast amount of literature against it, just keep your mouth shut and don’t bless it with your “expertise”. A real expert knows this is covid theatre, and they keep their heads down and don’t offer up bullsh*t, unlike some sh*t weasels who need a “get me on TV” fix. “Look at me Ma, I’m on TV!”

    1. Do you have any links to studies about masks pre-covid? It’s be handy to use against mask true believers. It’s so obvious a cloth mask is useless to anyone sane but we’re dealing with NPCs here.

  7. I just got off the phone with a pollster asking questions for the NDP (obviously). They wanted me to say the Government was doing a horrible job of everything (economy, jobs, vaccine rollout, contact tracing, passports and healthcare) but I told her, they were doing a reasonably good job under the circumstances. I am not worried about health care other than paying for it and Covid relief. That we need to get back to work and school and don’t need masks at school or vaccines for children and children should not be deprived of going to Disneyland because they don’t have a vaccine passport. I also said healthcare workers should 100% be forced to be vaccinated. If they want us to be vaccinated, traced, masked, tested and locked down for months, then THEY can put up or shut up. I also told her I regret getting the vaccine, it’s a big farce and if there is a 4 wave just come and take me because I am sick of it all, sick of union b!tching, sick of Trudeau. Whom , I also said was the only reason I worry about the future if he is re-elected.

  8. I just got back from another trip to Fort St. John. I made a stop at the tourist information centre in Valleyview, Alberta and I happened to see someone with a pack of dogs.

    It turned out he was a “musher” (as he called it), taking a dog team back with him to Alaska.

    He didn’t have a lot of nice things to say about the Canadian border security, particularly since it imposed on him all manner of masking conditions. He mentioned that, theoretically, he was required to wear a face diaper at all times while in the country. If he went to buy fuel for his truck, he was allowed to pay for it and use the washroom. Nothing else.

    Nice country we have, isn’t it?

  9. N95 masks used to have the warning: ‘will not block Coronavirus’, or something along those lines. Haven’t bought them for a while now, so don’t know what’s going on.

  11. Looking at those graphs and in a few cases there is an argument that masks have actually help spread the Fauci Flu.

    Problem is we are run by ‘Experts’, and not people who actually work for a living. I work in engineering and we have Safety and Risk reduction beaten into us with sticks… As So Far As Is Reasonably Practical.

    The risk reduction laws we are forced to comply to would utterly reject the current ‘Expert Advice’ if push came to shove.

    Masks reduce vision. Objective statement. Reduced vision increases risk of tripping.
    Masks reduce oxygen flow. Objective statement. Reduced oxygen is, ironically, an adverse effect of Fauci Flu, and causes headaches and reduction in rational thought processes.

    By these two points alone (reduced Oxygen levels and vision) mask wearing should be BANNED for all people operating motor vehicles.

    Masks are not magic. In many situations they are only making things worse.

Under normal circumstances the masks in the operating room are worn by those directly exposed to the surgical field (surgeon, assistant, scrub nurse) in order to protect the patient from contaminants since wound infections can be quite devastating and, along with eye shields, to protect the staff from flying blood and other bodily fluids. There’s no evidence that even having the anesthesiologist wear a mask has any benefit to the patient since they’re on opposite sides of the so-called “ether drape”. In the early stages of the pandemic before better information was available there may have been a suggestion that masks could reduce spread, and as has been pointed out elsewhere, at the beginning of this thing “expert opinion” was the best we had to go on. Once the data came available public health decisions should be based on the data. It would appear masks are a flop. I have them available for businesses that insist I wear one since for me, it’s a minor inconvenience. Otherwise I don’t wear it. Having been double vaccinated I actually rather hoped to get some exposure to the virus in order to get the immune boost this would have conferred. Not sure if I’ve had any success.

  14. I work in a hospital in Houston, Texas. When the pandemic started last year and masks were mandated, the cost to the hospital was about a penny a mask and they required us to wear an approved surgical mask. The hospital gave us one each day as we arrived. Then the cost shot up to around a dollar a mask, they suddenly changed their policy allowing us to wear cloth masks we purchased. So we went from an approved surgical mask to a mask you bought off Wish or one your granny made out of a bandanna…the whole time reminding us about “patient safety.”
