Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Government mandated…
May I suggest mandatory vaccinations???
SHAZAM…
Magic.
Sad to say, the politicians are heading this way.
Be glad you don’t live in New Brunswick.
The local Nazis are ready to go door to door after the nonvaxxed unexperimented on.
I’d say go read the comments on the main news(all billionaire owned) but it’s a paywall. With real subscription names only.
An embarrassing comment on the education system and the ubiquitous moron.(Fun fact: Ontario universities discount NB grad marks by 25%.)
It’s truly a hoot to watch the townsfolk ready their torches and pitchforks.
Mind control already achieved in NB.
Hey, bite your tongue, I’m a NB’er. Oh wait, that explains everything.
Restate that the guiding principles of anti-racism, anti-hate, equity, diversity and inclusion are at the core of respect for human rights in a free and democratic society and globally.
Stopped reading right there. This call for a free and open internet is going to be a list of things you shouldn’t be allowed to say on the internet, isn’t it? I’m going to guess that one of the first things you shouldn’t be allowed to say on the internet is “War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.” Especially not if it’s said in a mocking tone and it’s directed at the UN.
“…the guiding principles of anti-racism, anti-hate, equity, diversity and inclusion are at the core of respect for human rights …”
I paused at that, I have to try to figure out: As an anti-racist, if I am to be “anti-hate” can I hate racism? What about hate itself, should I hate that? If “inclusion” and “diversity” are absolutely good, is it not wrong to exclude hate and/or racism from our diversity of viewpoints?
Our free speech is eroding daily and it won’t come back just by asking nicely in a suitably deferential tone.
It should be blaringly obvious that nobody in Canada is going to do anything about!
Not a single thing.
No one. Nada.
Watch how the media cartel adopts the command from the ministry of truth.
In return they will be showered with your involuntary contribution.
Brainwashing is getting in high gear for the most part willing population of this country.
The nonexistent opposition should get up and tell the idiot that it is none of his damn business to tell anyone how and what to think.
Period
My biggest disappointment is how our police and court system is just as corrupted as our governments and politicians.
They should be arresting and convicting this corruption instead of being passive and allowing it to flourish…
The majority of the Liberal party would be in jail now.
Yes
The police are not, never have been and never will be, your friend. We need police, but less is better. Back in the day when police weren’t on the pedestal they are on today, were paid a middling wage and were fewer in number, policing was better. Not great, but better. I’m no lefty, but I do support ‘defund the police’.
They were also committed to being police back then. People joining a police force understood they were giving up their own rights to protect the rights of others.
Now, they are just 1) tax collectors, 2) paper pushers and 3) thugs for enforcing political edicts.
In a Python moment completely unrelated to anything, the Liberal Party recently admitted that they had stopped using their donation list to finalize their judicial appointments.
They “admitted” that? I would take it that they are now claiming they aren’t appointing donors to those positions of authority, but that’s no more reason to believe such claims than any thing else they say.
Begin with the PMO.
The media aspires to be the Ministry of Truth. They all want the job security, pension, and other benefits enjoyed by the civil service and they don’t want to compete for the attention of the audience, they want to command it.
Every time the word “diversity” appears, it should appear as such…. “diversity(except conservatives, white men and Christians)”.
‘This document aims to guide actions and measures that foster greater exposure to diversity(except conservatives, white men and Christians) cultural content, information and news online. This exposure to diversity(except conservatives, white men and Christians) content should contribute to a healthier public discourse, greater social inclusion within society, bolster resilience to disinformation and misinformation, and increase our citizens’ ability to participate in democratic processes. Diversity(except conservatives, white men and Christians) of content in this context is defined as a diversity(except conservatives, white men and Christians) of sources, ideas and perspectives, a variety of content types or genres, as well as the level of exposure and consumption of diversity(except conservatives, white men and Christians) content by an individual.’
There, doesn’t that read a lot more honestly, now?
Institutionalized Bullying.
Diversity = “No conservative opinions, or any questioning or challenging the Liberal Party of Canada, or any policy & law borne of Progressive ideology”.
This exposure to diverse content should contribute to a healthier public discourse, greater social inclusion within society, bolster resilience to disinformation and misinformation, and increase our citizens’ ability to participate in democratic processes.
Cuz we don’t want disinformation out there, do we?
I can’t see it flying given that:
a. The only institutionalized racism out there is solely caused by Government and Their courts
b. The only race-haters and race-baiters are the Government and The(Their) Media
c. Sooner or later people will figure it out and use it against them
That intellectually pompous, sleight-of-logic piece of propaganda is such a pack of nonsense. I’d bet even the author(s) do not believe a word of it.
There is a solution as always if you study history.

There is some resemblance to the events earlier this year in a place called Washington DC.
Isn’t that something?
I’ll take the small victories where and whenever I can.

That document looks like something a class of social science undergrads would put up on blackboard while being manipulated by a Marxist professor (but I repeat myself) masquerading as a facilitator, the same undergrads who would enthusiastically protest and threaten someone like Jordan Peterson to cancel him. My favourite line: “Recognize the relationship between access to (((credible information))) and a broad diversity of ideas as a foundation of democratic resilience;” The totalitarians always get to define “credible”.
Will indigenous people include Caucasoid descendants of Kennewick Man?
On July 28, 1996, two men at Columbia Park in Kennewick, Washington, accidentally found part of a human skull on the bottom of the Columbia River, Later searches revealed a nearly complete, ancient skeleton, now known as “The Ancient One” or “Kennewick Man.”
……. independent archaeologist Dr. James Chatters, thought that the bones might not be Native American. He described them as “Caucasoid” and sent a piece of bone to a laboratory to be dated. The results indicated an age older than 9,000 years, making The Ancient One among the oldest and most complete skeletons found in North America. Subsequent research on the bones indicated that the skeleton is between 8,400–8,690 years old.
Interesting that indigenous people appear alongside “equity-deserving groups here:
“Recognize that some content and ideas that may be circulated on online platforms, including hate, racial prejudice, disinformation and misinformation, can have real and concrete consequences and that these can disproportionately affect Indigenous people and equity-deserving groups and persons, including persons with disabilities, racialized and local communities, linguistic or religious minorities, members of the LGBTQ2+ and gender diverse communities.”
Short summary-unless you belong to a grievance community you will be further disadvantaged by government policy.
Here’s another suggestion: Totally Free Speech.
Some of it offends, some of it doesn’t. Some of it is true. Some of it isn’t. Some of it is misunderstood. Some of it isn’t.
Short version: Whenever the word “guidelines” accompanies the word “content”…it is NOT Free speech. It is approved speech based on the subjective value systems of those in a decision making position.
History is repeating itself.
In Germany, there was a small, petty nothing of a man of controlled the media, too.
Beware the age of reason,

“When plunder has become a way of life for a group of people living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it, and a moral code that glorifies it.” —Frédéric Bastiat.
OK. Let’s say I want to create a website that’s devoted to Gregorian chant. I put together a number of pieces of music, reference materials discussing the history, meaning and development of Gregorian chant, and a list of other websites that may be of interest. I pay for it out of my own pocket, and don’t include any advertising.
I might have thought that would be sufficient; and perhaps useful to others – not lots of folks, true, but certainly some would find it useful. But –
Now, I must also add:
Content reflecting different cultures and perspectives, including in local languages.
Access to local, national and international sources of content, including in local and
Indigenous languages.
Access to settings that influence what content is recommended to users.
A … media ecosystem which includes public service media, independent news,
and information sources.
Exposure to a variety of local, national and international news.
Information about … funding sources.
Seems like anyone wanting to do something useful on a small basis will get hammered by all these monumental requirements. You can post your pictures of Aunt Edna and Cousin Stanley, as long as you label them in multiple languages and post a copy of your tax return somewhere.
There’s absolutely nothing saying that this is not a global requirement for ALL creators of Internet content.
By the way – has anyone thought about how Canada may end up censoring/banning most non-Canadian content? If they’re serious about these regulations, then the rules will have to be applied to anything that can be VIEWED in Canada, not just things created there. And that means just about everything from outside the (perhaps not-so-)Great White North will have to be kept away from all the Canadian snowflakes (as the average Canadian seems to be thought of by those in power). [pun intended]
That word – “Should” – I don’t think it means what they think it means…
