The Liberal government strategy of multiple gag orders and a “super motion” to limit debate bore fruit last night as Bill C-10 received House of Commons approval at 1:30 am. The Parliamentary process took hours as the government passed multiple motions to cut short debate, re-inserted amendments that had been previously ruled null and void, and rejected a last-ditch attempt to restore the Section 4.1 safeguards for user generated content. The debate included obvious errors from Liberal MPs who were presumably chosen to defend the bill. For example, Julie Dabrusin, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Canadian Heritage, said that Section 2.1 in Bill C-10 “specifically excludes content uploaded by users.” Only it doesn’t as Dabrusin should know given that 2.1 covers users not content and she was the MP who introduced the amendment at committee to remove Section 4.1, which was the provision that excluded content uploaded by users.

All Senators should be independent, chosen for some measure of gravitas and accomplishment, not as a reward for fund-raising — and preferably not for checking off the most affirmative-action boxes. Perhaps the one good thing that Trudeau has done is going to pay off this week as the Senate refuses to pass this bill.

    1. Trudeau’s senators are independent. Their noses are so far up Turdeau’s derriere that they are about to suffocate. Independent, in Canada, means selected by a communist committee. The turd-head Harper left 21 vacant Senate seats as a gift to Turdeau. What an asshole!

You support the party in power effectively enough you get rewarded with an income, expenses, and the prestige of being a “senator”. They have zero power and are as useless as anyone else who has zero power. There really is no reason for the senate to exist.

The private sector mainstream media, with the exception of the National Post, continues to follow the narrative defined by the CBC, so they could survive, but it doesn’t really matter since they are essentially the same as the CBC. It is only the National Post that is at risk, if it continues to frequently publish articles critical of the Dear Leader and his policies.

      1. It’s not the “journalists” that determines an outlet’s position. They are presented as “opinion”. Look at what is being reproduced and called “news” by that outlet. You will find where it really stands. For example, the Sun chain newspapers reproduced Reuters pieces where it was opinion pretending to be news. All pro-Xiden and Orangeman Bad.

    Does that analysis include the upcoming scheduled Canadian version of the Reichstag Fire to stampede the Senate? A lot of people want this to pass. They suddenly came out publicly to stomp their jackboots all over your freedoms. Adding all those Fascist Amendments in the middle of the night? Do you think they will wait to next year to pass this all over again?

    I hope I am wrong, but this smells like the fix is in.

    1. They can only delay it. If an election comes up then it would die on the order table. The Senate was able to do this with a zoophile law the Lieberals tried to pass about 15 years ago. It too died while being held up in the Senate. It would have led to the banning of hunting and other animal based activities.

The Senate must block this bill — for once fulfilling their mandate of sober second thought. Actually I think that at least a certain percentage of new Senators do operate somewhat independently. If they take time to study the bill, they will see how damaging it is.

    it inspired me to write this:
    when i woke up this morning and put on my climate change mask, i thought today would be a good day to do a deep dive into my social media platform preferences: it did not go well… every time i selected the most interesting subjects to “enable” topics for postings, i would punch up “OK” on the save changes dialogue and it would return with “Are you sure you want to save changes?” – i would click the affirmative button and end up back where i started. i repeated the process 4 times before i realised i was in some kind of futile glitch/feature loop and then things got really interesting; there was a knock at the door. 🙂

    the good news is that the liberals cannot maintain this level of stupidity for very much longer.
