Weinstein and Heying go over a series of arguments and rhetorical traps that we’ve seen play out numerous times over the years. This is how the mind viruses get past peoples defense mechanisms, infect them, and the then spread to other people.
It’s long, but its a must listen if you want to understand what we’re up against. There’s a number of tricks involved that all work together. Trojan horses, buzz saws, anamorphic arguments and more.
There’s timestamps all over the youtube video with specific examples so you can pick and choose if you like but really you need to hear the whole thing.
Audio only version here.
Weinstein’s analogy with anamorphic art makes sense but I think a better one is forced perspective.

“Ooh, I’m so intellectual that I can boast that I don’t know what a buzz saw is. I’m not sure, but I suspect it’s one of those greasy gadgets that the working class tend to for me.”
I bet a lot of people don’t know what a buzz saw is. I’ve never used one, and in my life, I’ve used at least twelve different types of saw.
I‘ve never used a wind turbine, but I know what one is.
Ignorance isn’t excusable when we have pocket computers and internet. At this point it just means you are stupid.
Just because information is available doesn’t mean people automatically know it, and not knowing something doesn’t necessarily make them stupid. Most people don’t know how a freakin candle works, does that mean most people are stupid?
Two liberals who can paddle in my canoe any day.
Gawd, if these two were any more boring they’d be dead. I’ve tried before and I can’t do more than ten minutes.
I’ve had the same reaction to them.
Honestly, the visual that came to my mind about the covid drama is much less sophisticated. It’s a buffalo jump. Instilling fear was/is the primary manipulation technique. The fear then pushes people into their survival instinct mode, bypassing logic. In the panic, relying on their instinctual behaviour is 100% wrong. The key for the hunters is to make them very scared and then move the herd in the desired direction. By the time the herd realizes they’ve made a mistake, it’s too late – the vaccines are presented the only escape route.
Liberals. The idea of a logical fallacy is a bit too much for them. Instead of the KISS principle, they go for MISS every time.

Long read but pretty clearly lays out all the numbers and lies.
Jimmy – thank you for excellent link. Only half way thru it and will definitely re-read
and print. Great that this has Canadian analysis – had no knowledge of this site – mainly reading lockdownsceptics.org and Ivor Cummings – thefatemperor.com

The buffalo jump is a great analogy!
Thanks. There’s lots of ranchers in my family. I had the opportunity to tag along on a late summer roundup on horseback one year. A buffalo jump is just an extreme version of a roundup. For the last 15 months I’ve gotten to view the cattles perspective.
This is an excellent video. It exposes some of the rhetorical tricks being used by academics, politicians and internet trolls to foist their vision of centralized command and control on the rest of us.
When you dig down past all the bullshit as these two have, you always find the same thing. Marxist centralization and totalitarian control. They need you to shut up and give them your money willingly, because they’re not strong enough to take it from you.
Personally, I am not much inclined to shut up.
