  1. Turning off the taps is not as simple as u think. For example I worked SE Sask and SW Manitoba for much of my career and we had lots of freehold deals with farmers and every lease had a production clause. So if u don’t produce and pay the royalties the lease lapses. Lots of conditions for equipment failures etc etc but “turning off the taps” was never in a lease I saw 😉

    1. Big whoop. If Michigan shuts Line 5 around 13 May, it won’t matter. The taps will be turned off to Central Canada, because the oil will have nowhere to go, except maybe down to the Gulf of Mexico, or shut in reigns. Chinah Crap will take a back seat if they attempt to move 500,000 BBL a day by rail to supply Central Canada. That won’t take into account propane et al. We’ve just had TMX delayed again out here, ’cause Hummingbirds. TMX is a Federal project now. So what’s a little interruption in the oil flow east? Michigan’s Witmer isn’t taking calls, I hear. They need the smug wiped off their faces in Zentrul Kanahder. Blackie is going to find out just how much he’s liked by his pal Biden, or should I say Xiden.

    2. Nonsense. It’s called force force majeure. It can be accomplished with the stroke of a pen.

  2. Is the oil in Alberta owned by the province? Are they “nationalizing” the resource?

    1. How dare you…
Trudeau will just have to have a hissy fit.
He’ll get the laws changed right quick on environmental grounds.
      As Canadians freeze…
Can’t have more pipelines even though they own the company now.

      1. Looks to me like other provinces relying on Alberta energy is about as smart as Germany relying on Russian energy, except Alberta uses tax revenue from the energy sector to fund strap-on/hockey-ball gag/gimp mask parades for kids, unlike Russia.

      2. The best way to make sure a company doesn’t succeed at it’s purpose is to bankrupt it. Probably why they bought it. Butt’s plan creeps on.

      3. he will send in the army, oh, we really don’t have one. Maybe a navy sub, they work better on land than in the water. how about the airforce they can drop water balloons all over the province.

    2. Well it isn’t owned by the oil companies. They have leases to extract the oil, and pay a royalty on each barrel of oil. They must also obey all provincial rules, laws, and regulations, so yes, Alberta’s government does have the legal ground to determine where Alberta’s oil goes.
The question being, will Alberta turn off the taps?
I believe the answer is, not this government! Jason won’t do anything that might mess up his pension dollars or hurt his political aspirations.

      1. Just as I thought. A commie resource regime, a bit akin to Venezuela, where the state owns the resources. I was once of the opinion that the Canada I grew up in is gone (firing Don Cherry, arresting kids playing hockey outside, busting church services), but the more I learn, the more I come to realize that the Canada I grew up in was a media manufactured illusion, and this place has been a shithole for a long, long time (say 1968 or so, at least), where taxes are used for social engineering as opposed to public works, customs/duty fees are used to fill coffers instead of protect local industry, and regulation used to protect state crony cash-cows instead of protect people.

    3. In Alberta, yes. They take royalties at the wellhead like every other producing Province. They are just the biggest producer by geography/geology.
What, Ontario or Quebec would just give it away free, if they had the oil?

        1. You would too in Alberta if you settled here before 1905.
Waiting for Kenney to turn off the taps is like waiting for the Second Coming.

      1. Actually that has been ruled on and yes they can. It is an old case but was ruled that Provinces do have the Sovereign Right to conclude all treaty’s in relation to trade. They just never use the power. Proof of this is happens daily with all the agreements concluded with border states and Provinces.

        1. So, an independent trucking company wouldn’t be allowed to buy some tanker-loads of crude and ship it out of the province, and you’re good with that. I’d say the feds have you right where they want you. Way to go.

    1. What? No unicorns mating? no dinosaurs awakening? Just simple hummingbirds? Who would have thought……

  3. OK, Kenney lefty loosey, righty tighty, let’s say start at about 100,000bbl/day, every day, shouldn’t take long.

  4. I hope line 5 is shut down permanently. As an Albertan it may hurt but time to inflict some pain on Ottawa and the eastern bastards. Let them walk they don’t need oil or fossil fuel they have special unicorns. Alberta needs to build the biggest refinery in North America and start shipping refined products.

    1. You are a brainwashed fool. You would cut off your nose to spite your face. Ottawa will not suffer, they have the tax money they extorted from the people of Ontario, and indeed the entire country. What you are doing is claiming to be willing to suffer pain yourself in order to be able to inflict pain on others, others you have been brainwashed into perceiving as your enemy, when the real enemy are the “experts”, politicians, bureaucrats and enforcement personnel who do their bidding. There is nothing stopping AB from exploiting their resources, building refineries, etc, except the corruption and cowardice of the AB leadership. The term “useful idiot” comes to mind.

      1. Look….your comments indicate you really don’t know what you are talking about. As for “useful idiot”, look in the mirror.

      2. Stupid should hurt. I would love to see all the woke bastards who demand Net Zero put their shoe leather were they big mouths are. Yes stupid will hurt because when you assholes who voted for Zero Fossil fuels clue in that it will require 7B of you to starve to death to meet co2 mandates it will be too late. The way nature works the smart and the strong survive. Nature don’t care and neither do I. I will use your starved asses for mud flaps on my diesel burning pick up

        1. “I will use your starved asses for mud flaps on my diesel burning pick up”
Not after you shut down your own energy sector by “turning off the taps” you won’t.

      3. ” You would cut off your nose to spite your face. Ottawa will not suffer, they have the tax money they extorted from the people of Ontario, and indeed the entire country”

Easterners already cut our noses off, then stomped on our face. I want them to HURT too.
Ottawa has money? Good. They can burn it to keep warm next winter and burn it to cook their dinners.

“Let the Eastern bastards freeze in the dark.” ~Ralph Klein

        1. You are doing a great job of making natural allies, ie the rural population of the east, into your enemies, just like your leaders want you to. Well done. Go ahead and turn off the taps, kill your own energy sector, just like Ottawa wants you to. Idiots.

          1. Oz, you are a spiteful idiot. You would have no doubt joined the Hitler youth in 1930s Germany, as you cast about for a victim to vent your woes on. Know this, the east won’t even notice when you destroy your own energy sector, except for maybe an uptick in unemployment when all your former energy sector workers go east. Kill your own energy sector, and the east will get their oil from the Saudis, Norway, etc. Personally, I would like to see Alberta have pipelines to both coasts, and down to the states, to take full advantage of all possible markets, but little Hitler wannabees like you, full of hatred for other freedom-loving conservatives based on geography alone, well, you can FOAD for all I care.

          2. YW, I tend to agree with you on this. Ignore the little rat-fucker Oz; he’s done this kind of insanity many times before. Your description is accurate; he is a spiteful idiot.

As for the gist of this argument, what you are seeing is the perpetual tendency of Canadian conservatives to quarrel viciously with each other, forgetting all the time that the real enemy is the turd sitting right now in Langevin Block. Divisions within conservative ranks were the bane of Stephen Harper’s leadership, and it continues to be so now. Enough to make you wonder just whose side people like Oz are really on.

          3. ” as you cast about for a victim to vent your woes on”

I don’t have to ‘cast about’. The East hates Alberta. This has been true since before I was born. Rural Easterners?
Pfft! They elected the Liberal Party since time immemorial. Tell me how Trudeau got a majority government in 2015?
Canada is an abusive relationship. The East has stolen a $Trillion from Alberta and has all but destroyed our energy industry already. I know. I spent 18years building an Oil/Gas consulting company and it’s gone now. Killed by Easterners.

They built their dreams on the destruction of mine.

Now I’d like to see them get it in the neck, the SOBs. Yes, I am full of SPITE for Easterners and for Canada. KMA

          4. Oz, I live in the east, and I don’t hate Alberta, I wish nothing but the best for Albertans, and I hate the Liberals, municipally, provincially and federally, as do all my neighbors, and we all vote accordingly, but, since you wish me and my neighbors harm, I feel safe hating you personally. FOAD.

          5. Watcher: There are a lot more of us then there are of you, and we’re better armed, so watch your mouth.

      4. You are full of Shit! It was only a couple of years back that some voices oozing out of Ont. were stating that they were prepared to ‘Hurt a bit if Alberta could hurt a whole lot!’
It is time to do something to get the attention of the ‘East and those in the ‘lowly mainland,’ – they could not care any less about the oil industry and the many thousands of people out of work today, while we import product from elsewhere around the globe.
Trudy’s wettest dream is to kill the oil industry and thus silence those arrogant BASTARDS herein.
        Now just go away.

  5. Stupid should hurt. Those who “believe” in a “clean, green” future … without fossil fuels … should OWN it. Live it. Now!

Many of our dystopian problems of today arise from the LACK of real world consequences to stupid choices. It used to be … don’t work, don’t eat. It used to be … do drugs, die young. Now, every human vice (and fake virtue) is supported and nurtured by a *ahem* well-meaning Government. America has the fattest POOR population … that boggles the mind. The homeless have nicer tents than I could ever afford to take backpacking. And the so-called “greens” live more luxurious lives than anyone ever in the history of the planet.

It’s far past time to make these FRAUDS walk their talk.

    1. Agreed, Kenji. We call those retards “urbanites”, who overwhelmingly vote liberal. The desire to punish rural populations, which, continent-wide, are overwhelmingly conservative and freedom-loving is nothing short of a brainwashed divide and conquer strategy.

    2. Stop government support of the Social Work Industry and a large percentage of those problems will be self correcting. Victims want a shoulder to cry on and busybody Social Workers are it.

  6. Not that Kenney would ever actually shut the taps off but anyone who thinks Trudeau wouldn’t just send in the Army is delusional. At this point it’s clear we Canadians have rolled over and showed our bellies to the authorities and the federal government and they’re free to do as they wish. The media would also gleefully lap this up and explain to Canadians how this authoritative move is good for us all.

    1. Yeah that would work out real well, providing your goal was scores of butthurt Canadian soldiers. Albertans own slingshots as well.

    2. Except Trudeau can’t impose his will as the court decision shows. It’s time to turn off the taps.

    3. Does Canada actually have an army anymore….aren’t they mostly practicing marching in high heels to be, you know, inclusive.

      1. “Does Canada actually have an Army anymore… ”
Yes they do, although they are now called the PLA, ( Peoples Liberation Army ) they are mainly stationed all over BC and Mainland China. Invited to train and live in Turdholeland just in case Turdholians get out of line.
They are ready and willing to do as they”re ordered to do by the PMO in Beijing, perhaps even helping out the puppet leader of the LIberal/CCP Party back in China puppet State, Turdholeland.

  7. Shutting down ? Why do what the Liberal Party of Canada would do ? We have bills to pay.

  8. As if Kenney’s going to do anything.

He watched the Notley – turdo pissathon and he saw the electorate take it without umbrellas.

  9. What is the hold up? Seriously? If the leadership of Alberta wanted to use this tool, it would have already been used. What the leadership of Alberta wants to do, is lockdowns, carbon taxes, bigger government, more Ottawa, and all the stuff you have actually been getting a steady diet of.

All the stuff that has not been used, or has not happened yet? Is not going to, with the garbage leadership Alberta currently has.

  10. BC would be my first target. That bunch of commie pukes are as much of a problem as Ottawa.

    1. Right back atcha dickhead, wherever you are slithering around. Another fine example of why conservatives can’t have nice things, including election wins.

  11. And the fact that Embridge is drilling a parallel tunnel under the straits that will have a room for two larger lines than the current underwater line is unknown to 99.99% of the public.
They are just trying to get it into service before this May deadline by the batsh*t governor.
    Take a chill pill everyone.
    Its all Kabuki theater.

  12. The problem of course are the socialist idiots in BC.
They want the crude, just not for it to be delivered to a port.
It is almost bizarre that it had to come to court which pile of shit is preferable.

    1. Jason Kenney wants to be PM of Canada so anything that would hurt his chances is off the table. Alberta can pound sand.

    2. if the man had any balls at all, he’d use the Diversity, Inclusion and Equity part of the Alberta budget to kick-start a local refinery industry, and start selling refined fuel by tanker truck and rail to TROC and some midwestern states, but, seeing as he’s just another elitist hack, he’ll pay lip-service to (insert feel-good boilerplate here), and do (insert screw the people here), etc.

  13. Jason Kenney probably won’t use this weapon because he’s been almost completely isolated from the people he serves.

If you tracked the last policy convention you might have noticed that everything was tightly controlled: a few people from the 1950s got time (I assume because they’re obviously not going to be listened to) but almost every other opportunity he had to listen to people was cut off, scripted, or pre-vetted and tightly managed to limit his exposure to traditional conservatives.

If he had any brains/balls left he go would on another provincial tour by personal pick-up truck. I’d bet against it..

  14. With the CCP flu fiasco Kenney’s career should be over, but corrupt politicians always live on and get paid very well in Turdholeland.
Anyone who believes Kenney gives a shit about Alberta or Albertans is just plain stupid.
Kenney is a liar, he’s in Alberta to undermine her, he returned to Alberta to make sure Alberta stayed a part of the french speaking country known as, Turdholeland.
Kenney is a Turdhole Canadiun, a globalist who pretends to be a “reformer”, he’s full of shit… so, this ruling is surprising ( Courts are corrupt to the core ) but it is a meaningless gesture with a Premier who is really on the other side.
As someone who lives in BC, what the hell is Kenney waiting for ? BC globalist politicians ( NDP, BC LIberal, Greens, all globalist ) wants to fuk your Province so why does Kenney not turn off the taps ? Cause Kenney is a globalist too.

  15. Rudy…he wouldnt have the balls to go on another pickup truck tour of rural Alberta. He would not meet the same welcoming he had when he was campaigning. Lying SOB!
He might be “loved” in Calgary, Edmonton like Red Rachel is but outside of that?? Big NO!
If he hadnt manipulated the vote for leadership of the party – we would have had Brian Jean. A true blue Albertan. Lost his home to the Fort Mac fire and worked along with rescuers. A real man – not like carpetbagger Kenney.

  16. This would be a much more interesting conversation if we discussed shutting down railways.

Hey summer is nearly here, we should start assembling crap to park on the tracks to prove we’re no longer a nation.

    1. Duh Safety First.
To protect the feelings of our “First Nations” Brethern,we must shut down all rail systems crossing East West in Alberta and Saskatchewan, for safety inspections and to protect the native sacred tree frogs that might be planning to cross the tracks..
We can take turns doing these vital inspections, alternate days.
Cause Safety First Save the Sacred Creatures..
On Wednesdays it can be Unicorn Safety Day.

    2. “we should start assembling crap to park on the tracks”

Too late. Should have done that when red raiche and turdo were urinating all over your province. It might have put a little bravery and balls into the Conservatives.

      But then again …

  17. Eastern Canada including all of Quebec and the Salt Water Bums of Atlantic Canada like to say all the time that Alberta is landlocked they have no choices.
Alberta does not need Canada. 87% of Alberta’s trade is with the USA.
I will cheer like hell when Line 5 goes down and I hope it is permanent.
Alberta has a very big hammer if they decide to use it. Shut in line 5 by Wisconsin, start holding all rail east and west through Alberta.
Shut off the valve to BC. Shut off the gas coming out of Northern BC. Closing the rail will effectively mean Canada is severed in two.
Use the Covid Monster Scam. Trains carry Covid or what ever shit excuse expedient, the rail lines back up all freight to hell in back and slow walk all discussion about allowing rail east and west.
No cheap China infected goods east No exports west through Alberta.
Its for their own good you know.
And Alberta should put a ban on all oil field workers from the east and switch all sources of manufactured goods to the USA.
Fuck TROC dry and good and hard.

    1. Correct. It is long past time for a total commitment. Separation at any cost, as soon as possible. Any and all tactics allowable. Nothing off the table.

Any pain they can possibly inflict on us, is less than we will experience if we stay.

  18. Is there a Canadian civil war in the near future?
Just substitute oil for cotton, and there you have it!
