Lockdown Murder?

This strange murder story came out little over a week ago. Small rural Manitoba town and few details.

Since then they’ve released names and ages. Similar last names makes it appear like its a son and mother though the reports don’t actually say that.

Rumor’s are floating around of some very grizzly details and that the son had serious mental health issues. He’d been in some kind of group home or institution but was either brought home or sent home because of covid fears. Again this is just rumor and speculation. Has anyone heard anything?

    1. And for writers who don’t value their readers enough to do a quick proofreading of their work, but rather rely on the notoriously buggy spell check.

      1. Yes, the sarcasm indicative of arrogant disdain was noted; but, seriously, back the truck up. Your picking on a pseudo homonym rarely if ever written, seldom read, and infrequently heard – often mispronounced. Proof reading, even by third party may miss this. I recommend that you go off-line and wait for the hardcover.

“Catherine Mass, the murder victim, was an accomplished artist
and community volunteer who has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
and was well-loved and respected in the community.”

well… not by everybody, apparently. good to know she had
an undergraduate degree. not some undeserving high school
    dropout.

ps… anybody else notice the ‘crazy eyes’ on ol’ nicholas?

    1. I’d say most people in Canada know someone who knows someone Manitoba. Just my thought.

  2. I don’t know if it’s lockdown related, just like I don’t know if it’s lockdown related that, in the last week or so, Calgary has pulled three bodies out of the Bow River downtown, two of them an older gentleman and a young fellow in his early twenties, are not considered suspicious deaths. There’s always been the occasional body in the river but three in a week is certainly anomalous.

  3. As Robert Stacy McCain often says about stories like these on his blog:

    “Crazy people are dangerous”

  4. There was that human skull found in a field around Watrous last week that the police say wasn’t suspicious despite no autopsy being completed.

I’m sorry but any human skull found off of a human body seems suspicious until proven otherwise.

  5. I read their last names as … ‘Mass of Ninette’. Immediately believing this was some kind of a cult where they all are “joined” … as family … in the Great Mass of Ninette. After taking all the sacraments of Ninette. The Suspects photo did nothing to deter my erroneous reading.

I expect you Canada folks are more familiar with the town of Ninette … than this Yankee.

  6. “Has anyone heard anything?”

Don’t need to, everyone knows it was Trumps Russian collusion that killed her, so move along………

  7. I am in southern Manitoba and about one hour away from Ninette … have not heard anything more than has been posted here.

Ninette is a tiny community without a news outlet , nearest big city is Brandon who have their own police dept but Ninette will be RCMP jurisdiction so I doubt much will come from Brandon Sun news. I could not even find a mention of her murder there , so CBC & World-spectator.com are likely best sites for updates

Here is link to her obit with picture …. pretty gal .

  9. I have some sources. I live nearby. Cops went to check because the victim bakes bread for a number of people and delivers on specific days. She did not show and obviously did not answer the phone. They called cops. Cops attended, found victim rolled up in a carpet with suspect present. Seems she may have been deceased for awhile already. Suspect apparently showed no remorse. No idea why he was there or a motive. Suspect is the son to victim. Suspect has a bad reputation.
    Very sad situation.

When I was still healthy enough to tie dye, it was a lot of fun. I find it so, so unfortunate that people, rather than being happy for me doing something creative, got really jealous and badmouthed me behind my back. It’s, the saddest point of view someone could possibly take. You should have come for a visit, and tie dyed with me. I feel intrinsically, that there is something deeply wrong with each and every single one of you. Wow

  12. I live 10 minutes from Ninette. It was Mother and son. The son had lost it and was living with her dead body for approximately 4 days before the discovery.
