Assange

He should have been pardoned.

The Justice Department under President Biden intends to continue to seek extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange so he can face charges in the United States, an official said.

Justice Department spokesman Marc Raimondi confirmed that the new administration would continue to seek Assange’s extradition from the United Kingdom. The news was first reported by Reuters.

A group of organizations that advocate for civil liberties and human rights had urged Biden to drop the prosecution of Assange, arguing in a letter this week that “the government’s indictment of him poses a grave threat to press freedom both in the United States and abroad.”

  1. It was the Republican politicians and Mitch McConnell who were threatening President Trump not to give Assange a pardon.
President Trump didn’t care and would have granted this. But other politicians would have crucified Trump if he had.

  2. that “the government’s indictment of him poses a grave threat to press freedom both in the United States and abroad.”

    It’s a feature not a bug.

  3. Yeah, Trump really sh!t the bed bigly on this one.  Same with Ross Ulbricht and a few others. Plus, if he had pardoned these folks, he could’ve gotten the additional benefit of watching the Dems/Left/Cathedral in the States wildly fulminate over the recklessness of it all.

Wasted opportunity.  Life’s full of ’em.

    1. Believe me, their is a HUGE game being played out right now and will be breaking on February 19.
The day before Biden’s team is supposed to take office.

  4. No Trump should not have pardoned him. Assange provided aid and comfort to the enemy and put American lives in danger. He should hang. Slowly. On a razor wire.

    1. I remember the video of Assange pleading with US authorities to protect their people as there was publicly available information on the internet that was being released. They blew him off. I don’t believe that Assange spied on anyone. He just passed information along.

      1. “…publicly available information on the internet that was being released.”
Information is either publicly available or it is released.
Aid and comfort to the enemy. Hang ’em high.
