And yet the local news, which surprisingly covered the story, showed two perspectives, pissed off Irish and pissed off Scotts demanding to leave. [It reminded me of my family dinners growing up].
Not a word of any rational analysis [also reminding me of my family].

It never made much sense to me why Britain never took a harder line. They had a mandate.
Trump made it clear he would offer a US trade deal that would offset any EU “loss”.
Perhaps the deep state Brits knew ( and were involved in) that the election steal was baked into the cake and Trump would be removed from power and the Brits as such negotiated upon that reality – meaning US policy would be back to Obama era f*ck you Britain if you don’t abandon Brexit.
So flaccid Brexit was the result.
I swear that it was just a week ago, I read multiple articles that gloomily predicted a BREXIT “deal” would never be made … BREXIT was “effectively” DOA … and the U.K. would remain forever in the EU, as a pariah State. I swear … the FAKE News is THEE NEWS of today. 90% of the News is FAKE leftist claptrap. The default position of every news story is that it is all LIES and laughable distortions of reality.
The “news” is no longer the news in any real sense. It’s all propaganda advancing an agenda/narrative but posing as “news”. The only thing they can be counted on to report on in a traditional sense is a weather event. But then of course they always tack on something about global warming. So, in reality, even that has been infected.
Kenji, I think the “deal” is effectively keeping them within the control of the EU.
I’m sure there’s a separation between the UK bureaucracy and the EU bureaucracy, you’ll get twice the regulation and twice the number of approvals needed at twice the price and twice the amount of time. You voted to leave the EU, you’re going to be punished for that sort of insolence.

So sovereignty over British waters signed away, free travel of British goods (Such as there are any more ) into Europe subject to French customs and checks (may want to revisit the French illegal ban on British Lamb and Beef before thinking about poo poo-ing that) Financial markets effectively scuppered oh and the small matter of payments to the EU. Lets chuck in the alignment with the Eu forces and an obligation to uphold the Paris Accord etc etc etc

The Brits seemed to have thrown the fisheries under the bus to get the deal, but they do regain control over their waters and the UK share of the fishery goes from half to 2/3rds over a transition of 5 1/2 years. and are out of the common fishery with the EU. The way the EU is raping the UK fishery is a crime.
Being from the east coast I recall many times where Ottawa threw fish quotas at foreign countries to get a deal on something else. It wasn’t Newfoundland that crashed the cod fish stocks on the Grand Banks, it was Ottawa.
As far as Brexit goes, it’s done. Now rumblings Norway wants a better deal as a non EU member, so it can’t be all bad.

The fisheries have nothing to complain about and there is no rational reason for domestic fisheries to be favored over foreign ones. Whoever pays, catches.
