2. Detroit started going downhill after the riots in the mid-1960s.

   1. Oh, it began before that.

      Detroit’s population peaked at the 1950 census. White Detroiters saw the writing on the wall and began leaving years before the problems caused by infestations of southern blacks became impossible for the newspapers to ignore.

      1. Infestation may be a bit harsh. It would be interesting to see the correlation between social decline and the education system malfeasance..

4. It occurred to me while watching it that he could easily be describing Calgary or, maybe, Edmonton. Kill the main industry there and force the people to move elsewhere.

   Of course, that would fit in nicely with “The Great Reset”. The population that leaves could easily be replaced by our Chinese masters who’ll have a nice urban environment in place, ready for their use.

   As for TGR, that was tried in a certain country, but it wasn’t called that back then. It was “Year Zero”. How’d that turn out? Just ask Pol Pot.

6. In 1968 I had a choice to emigrate to San Francisco or Vancouver. The Vietnam war was on so I chose Vancouver.

9. You can’t talk about Detroit’s decline without mentioning the UAW. A textbook case of a parasite bludgeoning its host into submission even though union execs were warned time and time again but every year it seemed like one of the big three was going on strike which meant everyone was out. Michael Moore had the audacity to point the finger at the Big Three for leaving Detroit with his documentary “Roger and Me”. Bullshit! It was the unions and no one else.

   And then there’s leftist Mayor Coleman Young, what a piece of work he was.

   My proximity to Detroit gave me a front row seat back in the day. Like watching a slow motion train wreck.

10. Both San Francisco and Los Angeles will have to take a number. The tile of “Detroit 2.0” will go to Chicago.

11. As bad as Detroit was in the 70s and 80s…I don’t remember any notices of people crapping in the streets. Detroiters had a little bit more class than San Fransiscans, I guess.

12. The collapse of SF, LA, Chicago and now … NYC … has just been staved-off for (at least) 4 more years. The Nationwide taxpayers will bail-out all the most dystopian of Blue City/State nightmares … now that the SCOTUS has refused to Stop The Steal. Kampala Harris and a supermajority House and Senate will bail out every Blue Hell Hole … and TAX the wealth of every refugee from the nightmares they’ve created.

    Welcome to the perpetual Blue States of the USA. We’re ALL California now. Or as the Democrats like to call it … we’ve all returned to “Normal” now.
