Root Causes

I have long argued that the root cause of looting is not shooting looters;

Florida’s governor has drafted “anti-mob” legislation to expand already controversial Stand Your Ground laws — to allow people to shoot looters, according to a report.

A draft of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ proposed bill expands the list of “forcible felonies” under Florida’s self-defense law to include criminal mischief causing “interruption or impairment” of a business, according to the Miami Herald, which obtained a copy through a records request.

It also specifically allows force against those looting, which the draft defines as burglary within 500 feet of a “violent or disorderly assembly.”

Compare and contrast.

  1. But CBC News and CTV News will refer to looters as “entrepreneurial income redistribution agents”. The Big Media waht to protect the physical welfare of the latter.

    1. I prefer Robert Heinlein’s “freelance socialists” definition.

And in a “just society”, we should be allowed to shoot them all – freelance or state sanctioned.

        also heinlein…

“poisoners got poisoned, arsonists were burned and i don’t
wanna talk about what happened to rapists.”

  2. Of course, leftist scumbags are already referring to rioting and looting as “expressing First Amendment rights“ just like the mayor of Seattle referred to the occupants of CHAZ. As we know though, those rights don’t apply to people expressing conservative views, who deserve to have their teeth punched in.

The world turned upside down. It really is a full-court press for the establishment of Stalinism. Never imagined I’d live to see this.

  3. Anti-mob?
    Libranos?
Did he just call open season on Democrat/Liberal politicians aka Communists?
    Who loots your pocket more?
    Who impairs your business more?
What’s more disorderly than the house?
Seems like the perfect law to protect yourself from the real villains.

  4. THIS. This is what is needed to put the RISK factor back into lawbreaking and crime for the perpetrators.
We’ll see if career criminals value their own lives more than they value loot. Give it time to sink in. There is going to be bloodshed.

  5. Defunding Police leads people to revert to the days of the Wild West when there was no police. Everyone had a right to protect themselves. In dodge City it took the Earps to clean up the lawlessness and mess.

    History repeating itself I guess.

  6. If the GOP prevail in the courts and a proper count of the votes is allowed you will see looting and mayhem like we’ve never seen and part of the cause will be the media.
The wife had Global news on and I happened to catch a bit. The story was about the transition of power in Washington and twice Biden was referred to as President Biden. You see how it will be? If Biden is denied his rightful win, the media will ensure that all hell will be unleashed on the American people.

  7. It’s about time!

Now to protect our border with Mexico in the same manner. Warning shots. Announcement in both English and Spanish. Then shoot those who continue on in defiance of the warnings. Shoot. To. Kill.

  8. The Democratic People’s Republic of Kanuckistan will continue vigorously prosecuting any person who dares to protect himself or his property. As a subject, your only right is to be a victim.

  9. DeSantis is running for President in 2024…. Between him and Josh Hawley the left is going to be longing for the good ol’ days of reasonable, moderate Donald Trump.

  10. I’m so old I remember when shooting looters was standard practice. The tide turned after the Watts riots in 1965.

    1. As a Florida National Guardsman in the sixties we were not allowed to shoot looters but it was lawful to shoot arsonists. Every company in the Guard carried glass bottles and rags as part of SOP. If a looter was to be “accidentally” shot a
post mortem photo would show him clutching a Molotov cocktail .

  11. Florida, my favourite place which I may never get back to. I guess someone else will enjoy our little one bedroom condo on the beach at Reddington Shores in the coming post “FUCKING COVID YEARS”.

  12. I read this in Reader’s Tips (Colonialista) first thing this morning with a cup of coffee. I went to work with a smile on my face.
Shooting looters. Shooting zombies. Samey same. No law should be required.
