14 juillet is as good a time as any to remind SDA readers that all bad ideas come from France, liberalism and socialism included.
For generations, the French Canadians thanked God that they were spared the atrocities of the French revolution. Of course, they never thanked the English.
Liberty, Equality, Fraternity…. a legacy of the Age of Enlightenment, the motto “Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité” first appeared during the French Revolution.
I have a copy of the Grammy-winning recording by l’Orchestre Symphonique du Montreal, directed by Charles Dutoit, which was released in the early 1990s.
Admit it–you want to hear more Berlioz. How about the last movement from his Symphonie Fantastique?
I’m grateful for my MediaBose Quiet Comfort “35” headphones.
I got lost in the music! It’s lovely.
Here is what Berlioz wrote about “Les Troyens”…. to (his inspiration) Princess Wittgenstein of Weimar: “I am sure that I have rewritten a great work, greater and nobler than anything done hitherto. The principal merit of the work is, in my view, the truthfulness of the expression.”
For Berlioz, truthful representation of passion was the highest goal of a dramatic composer, and in this respect he felt he had equalled the achievements of Gluck and Mozart.
(Repetition of your submission above, in the last part)
You’re welcome.
Les Troyens is an operatic epic and has been dubbed the French Ring, referring to Richard Wagner’s monumental Der Ring des Nibelungen/i>. It’s based on Virgil’s Aeneid and lasts on the order of 4 hours. It puts the “grand” into grand opera.
By the way, the recording for the excerpt I linked to features the great Canadian tenor Jon Vickers. It’s pretty hard to top that.
I discovered this gem thanks to the Saturday afternoon opera programming on–wait for it!–CBC.
I forgot to mention that I did take in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra once, years ago. It was wonderful. I can’t imagine sitting through a grand opera for 4 hours even with a few intermissions!
Last evening I got into nosing about not only the music but the history behind it. This muse of Berlioz’s is memorable:
Looking at the lives of a number of composers, one comes to the conclusion that they were a randy lot. Berlioz, of course, pursued English actress Harriet Smithson, married her, and became miserable. Franz Liszt always seemed to be canoodling with someone. Richard Wagner wasn’t much different, which was one reason his first marriage ended in divorce only to eventually take up with Liszt’s illegitimate daughter Cosima.
Frederic Chopin carried on with author George Sand for a number of years. There were rumours about goings-on between Johannes Brahms and Clara Schumann. After his first wife died, Giuseppe Verdi shacked up with Giuseppina Strepponi for a few years, though they eventually got married.
Then there was Beethoven’s so-called “immortal beloved”.
And here we thought rock stars were incorrigible…..

Further to the details regarding the the affairs of Princess Carolyne and Composer Franz Liszt and the attempted annulment in September 1860 of Princess Carolina’s Marriage to Prince Nicholas von Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg-Ludwigsburg…
Most unfair was that women had no legal rights with regards to property ownership in those days. If it happened then, it could happen again, to anybody, we must beware in this day and age.
“…her husband and the tsar of Russia managed to quash permission for the marriage (to Liszt) at the Vatican. The Russian government also impounded her several estates (she owned thousands of serfs), which made her later marriage to Liszt, or anyone, unfeasible…”
Liszt and Carolyne, to their credit, had a 40 year relationship regardless of marital status and what the Vatican and the Russian government did.
The following orchestral piece is known as Franz Liszt best composition, this is in thanks to them and dedicated to their devotion:
And, yes, I watched all 13 installments when it was shown a while back on TCM.

Have a gander at these:
This darling young man has the hairdo of a dude who thinks “Business in Front and Party in Back”…

And of course this…
there is a little bit of Johann thrown in with Lizst’s
“Les Préludes”. One can never forget the famous
“Tom and Jerry” stuff, so precious, they ‘liked’ Lizst too:

The kid definitely has some potential as a conductor.
As for the cartoon, Bugs Bunny also famously spoofed Wagner in What’s Opera, Doc, and then he poked fun at Gioachino Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia.
Oddly enough, a lot of people got their first exposure to classical music and opera through such cartoons.
Didn’t Berlioz write a famous song? “Berlioz, and dozidotes, and little lamzy divy…”?
For a short time, the motto was Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité, ou la Mort. I was reminded of this while re-reading Dickens’s “A Tale of Two Cities,” recently. Plus ça change…
In some ways the tale in the “Tale of Two Cities” is much like today. When I first read the book it was the first paragraph that captivated me:
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.”
Thanks for the reminder.
P.S.
New Hampshire certainly borrowed from the freedom motto,
N.H. licence plates read:

If not for our first past the post system the conservatives won the majority of the vote. Canada is broken and to fix it will require more pain and work than the average Canadian is willing to put up with.
Conservatives did not win the majority of the vote last year. They won more votes than any other single party, but they won only 34% of the popular vote. They have more seats now than they would have under proportional representation.
Idiot, in our system that means they got the most votes, what part of first past the fing post don’t you get.
“Most” does not mean “majority”, dunce. If you don’t understand that, don’t talk at all.
None had majority of votes in the last election and in several preceding ones. Hence under a proportional representation scheme a coalition would rule. A Librano-NDP coalition.
Heroes – Sobieski 1683 – Duda 2020
The National Post always presented itself as a Conservative newspaper. Lately I’ve had my doubts. Every day, several readers have their comments deleted for ”Anti Trudeau” slurs. Does this look like a Conservative’s column?
Matt Gurney is being derisive, caustic, and sarcastic. He is riffing on the idiotic Trudeau slogan “better is always possible.”
The NP was a fantastic newspaper during the years of Black’s ownership. It stayed pretty solid up until about 10 years ago, then tanked. It’s now no better than the left-wing Globe and Mail.
Yes. I used to love the Post. It was a real pleasure yo read. It has indeed gone downhill, with only a couple of good columnists left. It is thin, thin. Just not much in it,band what is there you already know about. Thrir Trump coverage (apart from the occasional Conrad Black column) is predictable, one sided and misleading. Much of it is from the usual US sources- e.g. WAPO. We have started getting the Globe on Saturday. They have no good columnists and not much that is interesting to read.
The (original Sun Media) Financial Post section is still usually okay. It is the only reason I still subscribe.
The National Post is the only right leaning paper in Canada. Anybody read John Robson, Terry Glavin, Rex Murphy, Barbara Kay, Conrad Black?
Quit complaining. We’re lucky to have the NP.
You’ve just listed impotent and cowardly faux-conservatives, who subscribed to cancel culture before it became a buzzword.
Canada is a very liberal country.
Maybe the writers I listed are not ideologically pure enough for you but they do present for the most part a reasonable conservative voice.
Conservative ideals do not sell at the political level in Canada. It’s only when the libranos really piss off the electorate that conservatives gain power.
Posts Deleted..?? How about getting banned the same day as getting banned from CBC commentary..? Happened to me. For the calamitous statement that “2 missles being shot at a passenger liner is Redundancy equaling State Sponsered Terrorism”.
BAMN – gone turfed.
The same PMO-Butts’ qualified CENSORS that work at the CBC, also do so at the Nat Post. There is a continual degrading happening there of any Conservative thought;
REX notwithstanding.
SCREW the Msm. They ALL are LIBERAL – ChiComm paid Propagandists. Rebel-True North-Fernando -Lilly-Malcom et all, are the only ones with real NEWS.
I find the timing interesting. With the drip, drip, drip of corruption prior to the conservative leader being chosen, the. Libs are clearly gaming the next election.
When your bought and paid for media covers your scandals then they’re covering exactly what you want then to cover. I would guess Trudeau will be gone soon because they / he want it that way.
There will be a Sept / Oct election (before the US). Conservatives will be absolutely unready with no clear unifying message.
Freeland liberals run against Trump, white privilege, C02, and guns while emergency cheques are still showing up in the mail. Conservatives lose if they defend any of the above or attack the Covid response.
It’ll be a liberal landslide.
You can always vote for Max and his party to split the Conservative vote. Make sure even more Liberals get elected.
BTW, is Max and his party still a thing or have they disappeared? Haven’t heard a thing about them.
Still there and trying hard. Too bad stupid Canadians have their heads so far up their socialist asses that they are unable to see anything except a trough that is filled by others.
Still there, will materialize before the next election to help Blackie secure the majority. Also a band of maxipads that we haven’t heard from since the last election will undoubtedly (and unfortunately) briefly comeback to SDA, each will be trolling under multiple names.
It matters not who is in power as even the conservatives are liberal socialists. Having been involved for many decades I can say this is the undeniable truth. Max is the only one who has anything even modesty approaching a conservative platform. That said close to 70% of all Canadians will vote the socialist line spread out among all the parties. Gimme, gimme, gimme, is the cry of the Canadian voter. They still haven’t learned that in order for a government to give you something, they have to steal it from someone else.
Don’t be like Chris. Or colon.
They vote conservative because there is a Party which has that word that confuses some people & misleads Canadians because CPC is a poseur party. You can’t pretend to be “right wing” while doing centrist, “on the fence”; in other words the CPC has 0 values.
CPC just lost TWO elections to a nobody with great socks and free money.
CPC has no platform, so it panders to diversity as vote whore #LIBCONS. MacKay loves WE charity and Pride parades. Just like a #LibCons. Scheer got nothing done and is a creep to not stand down.
But Bernier is a real conservative. His platform proves it. He panders to no one.
Except, Bernier is not a conservative on a lot of social issues.
Max better move to Alberta.
Quebec is dead to me.
In retrospect, I think Bernier’s defection was unfortunate. He is such a bull dog and that is needed in going after Trudeau. I think Scheer handled Bernier badly. Maybe a new leader will have the good sense to reach out to him. We need PPC votes, and we need their ideas.
The CPC could have Jesus Christ himself as a leader and I wouldn’t vote for them. The CPC or any national party will always be saddled with appeasing canadian socialists and suckholing the cbc et al.
A vote for CPC is a vote for the continued rape of western Canada. Screw that!
And as much as I like Maxime…won’t vote for him again.
I will vote WEXIT…..as will my Wife.
And that is something Anyone from Alberta – Saskatchewan with any thought of a FUTURE for our children should think about doing as well. Why piss away your vote for a party (Conservatives), that has literally SCREWED over the West at every opportunity since PET..?? and will absolutely DO SO again.
Voting Conservative in the next FED election is a sign of Mental Disorder – Psychosis….kinda like bangin yer head against a steel Pressure Vessel..thinking it won’t hurt the next time.
I’m an American, but the issue to me in both countries revolves around getting any message out when the entire media and academia are aggressively aligned with the opposition party against conservative principles. That fact is the end of the West.
There you go Chris. Your first ever introduction to a doctrinally conservative party. Not a phony poseur CPC.
1. Budget, debt & deficit: “Get rid of the deficit in two years through spending cuts and fiscal prudence.”
2. Economy: “Eliminate all corporate subsidies and other inefficient government interventions”.
3. Immigration & refugees: “Substantially lower the total number of immigrants and refugees Canada accept every year, from 350,000 to between 100,000 and 150,000”. “Change the law to make birth tourism illegal”. “Declare the whole border an official port of entry.” “Take Canada out of the UN’s Global Compact for Migration.”
4. The environment: “Withdraw from the Paris Accord and abandon unrealistic greenhouse gas emission reduction targets”. “Abolish the Liberal (federal) government’s carbon tax. “Stop sending billions of dollars to developing countries to help them reduce their emissions”.
5. Equalization program: “Reduce the total amount of equalization payments to provinces.” “Provide poorer provinces with the right incentives to adopt pro-growth economic policies and reduce their dependence on federal money”.
The CPC would never rock the boat, are not principled enough to make/take big decisions as above but Pandy Scheer was so happy to eliminate the GST on your hydro bill. MacKay is so giddy to go on Pride parades. Erin O’Toole stole from the PPC platform. Clear #LibCons.
He might have to revise #1 to 200 years.
In 5 years Trudeau and his Liberal Party have stolen growth from the future by incurring debt to the tune of $13000 per Canadian!
How much did you get?
I received 0 Trudeau benefits. I don’t fit; no debts, retired at 51, no OAP, no CPP, etc.
It would require a non-confidence vote and that is unlikely to happen.
The opposition will make more headway allowing the government to stand and the only way a no confidence vote can happen is if Parliament is recalled.
Then when it is recalled, the committee’s reconvene and they are not controlled by the liberals.
Sure is a good thing we have the ongoing population decimating flu virus handy.
Actually, I think that bill only set a maximum four year limit for a government, as some majority governments have gone longer. By convention, three years or less is the norm for a minority government like Trudeau’s. He doesn’t have to wait, because you can’t really set minimum terms in a parliamentary system.
Scott, you are correct. From the Elections Act.
Date of General Election
Marginal note:Powers of Governor General preserved
56.1 (1) Nothing in this section affects the powers of the Governor General, including the power to dissolve Parliament at the Governor General’s discretion.
Marginal note:Election dates
(2) Subject to subsection (1), each general election must be held on the third Monday of October in the fourth calendar year following polling day for the last general election, with the first general election after this section comes into force being held on Monday, October 19, 2009.
All Trudeau has to do is go to the GG and ask for parliament to be dissolved. This can happen at anytime, but an election must be called every four years in any case.
I stand corrected. Thank you.
Alec and Chris, you raise good points and I cannot disagree with any of them. I have decided to vote PPC and donate money to the Wexit party. I am a member of joth parties, and the CPC.
Right here is the election platform for the liberals. Fear and division
I doubt that. Freeland is very unlikable, a snotty bitch. Entitled, arrogant.
The Liberals are mired in scandal after scandal. Even with a bought off press it’s still getting out.
I think if O’Toole wins the CPC will beat the Liberals hands down. He offers a return to normal.
The others either never elected, (Lewis), unknown Sloan & Lewis or too much baggage (MacKay).
Any idiot that votes PPC needs their heads examined if they don’t think this could be our last election. Just look at the situation today, no Parliament, no House, no overviews of spending. PM hiding in a cottage and appears for a couple of hours a day if that. 100 to 1 that they will try to extend their overreach past September and you know what, it will be probably be by decree.
New front opens in the battle against tech censorship and deplatforming.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Vr4pbVgjEs ” Patreon In BIG Trouble Over Tech Censorship! You LOVE To See It!”
TheQuartering out of Wisconsin is not the only one covering it, just the one covering it most concisely that I have found, Sargon did a live stream covering it, but that is 3 hours long.
TLDR;
Patreon banning creators like Sargon and Lauren Southern… did same to Owen Benjamin who got 100 supporters through his lawyer to file complaints of tortious interference in the contracts between Owen Benjamin and his supporters. Patreon terms of service preclude class action suits and mandate arbitration in California courts. California law stipulates that the one who drafted the terms must pay the courts $10,000 in legal costs up front before the hearing, for each case going before the courts. Sargon had 10,000 backers when he was banned, and is suggesting he won’t be upset at any supporters who file such claims. If all Sargons backers file complaints, that would be $1,000,000,000 in court fees payable by Patreon up front. No idea what the costs of the arbitration ruling would be. Cernovich following the hearing to block the arbitration (after Patreon changed terms of service to try to stop this) stated that the judge denied their motion, and appeared to slap back at Patreon’s lawyers fairly hard. Cernovich also claims that this may have implications for bannings by PayPal and Mastercard (Mastercard seems to control the payment processing blacklist).
I have thought for a long time that Silicon Valley seemed to be run by some very unprofessional people who lucked into being there as natural monopolies emerged, and that it would eventually cost them a lot for being so unprofessional, unprepared, and naive about the legal requirements of running a business.
Silicon Valley seemed to be run by some very unprofessional people
I’ve worked for a number of “high tech” companies over the years. Nothing in that business surprises me any more.
Putin reiterated the contention that the Soviet Union was forced into signing a non-aggression agreement with Germany before the war — the so-called Molotov-Ribbentrop pact — after Western powers cold-shouldered creating a military alliance.
“The Soviet Union did its utmost to use every chance of creating an anti-Hitler coalition. Despite — I will say it again — the double dealing on the part of the Western countries,” he wrote.
He also defended the wartime annexation of the Baltic nations.
“Their accession to the USSR was implemented on a contractual basis, with the consent of the elected authorities. This was in line with international and state law of that time,” he said. “The Baltic republics within the USSR preserved their government bodies, language, and had representation in the higher state structures of the Soviet Union.”
“I believe that it is unacceptable to equate liberators with occupiers,” he said.
– and they REALLY did their utmost making sure the Polish intelligentsia played nice with Uncle Joe – those they left alive – and OUTDID themselves trying to blame the Katyn Forest massacre on the Nazis.
No thanks, we’ve seen that movie, Vlad – “Socialists are always one (more) murder away from true Communist utopia…”
Winston Smith would be proud.
Wow. I met some folks in Estonia who would disagree with that perspective.
That’s very similar to the methodology Ernst Röhm used to recruit losers for the SA. Outcasts, losers and wannabes that want to be big shots are easy pickings.
“I believe that it is unacceptable to equate liberators with occupiers,” he said.
Right vlad. You sure as hell did become occupiers. Over 100,000 cases of rape reported to the Berlin police during and after the “liberation”.
Yup. My mother told me stories about how the Red Army behaved after they came to Berlin. There’s a reason why, after the city was divided into the different zones, the part where she grew up (and where I was born) regarded the British as liberators from the Soviets.
That should hardly be surprising. Stalin’s front line troops were often the worst kind of people.
Ethics Commissioner investigating Trudeau means squat. He might apologize, say he made a mistake but he keeps on going as the star of the masses.
Oh, I don’t know – he might be given another $100 fine!
Barbara Kay writes about the fear society at the “woke” National Post.
And now your Canadians are racist bastards story for today. All the Canadian media is excited this morning about the final leg of the bike run for George Floyd in Toronto. Yes live coverage of the man riding his bike to honour Floyd, who of course was the greatest civil rights activist of all time. Why even the Toronto police have been invited to join the guy biking through diverse Toronto.
That the drug addict and thug George Floyd is at the central this anti-racism fiasco is bizarre. Surely there are more worthy hero’s. Presumably, the autopsy indicates that he died of a fentanyl overdose, and not the police action. Does not excuse police mistreatment, but it does illustrate how easily people can be manipulated by those who control the narrative.
“he died of a fentanyl overdose, and not the police action.”
I am not an MD so I might be out to lunch. It appears he had a fentanyl level in his system 2 to 3 times the median dose found in fatal victims of fentanyl poisoning. Dumb odds would say he died of fentanyl poisoning although individual tolerance varies.
I am not sure how the prosecutor in Minneapolis is going to approach the evidence of their own coroner. Will he tell the jury to ignore it? Minneapolis is going to burn when the cops are found not guilty. They should have been charged with criminal negligence not murder.
“..Minneapolis is going to burn when the cops are found not guilty…”
Yep….and not 1 PENNY from the Feds for “reconstruction”.
THANK you Pres TRUMP..!!! (& now, about that MLK sculpture at Mount Rushmore…Any thoughts.??)
Those of ya in Minneapolis…?? Well, y’all can get AntiFa, BLM, Soros, the Muslim Brotherhood & the Democratic party to cough up…..
He was also an angel, wasn’t he?
Pierre Trudeau beat Margaret, according to Margaret in a feature article in the Milwaukee Sentinel in 1979. Virtually all traces of the article have been scrubbed from the Internet, but there are a few references to the story still to be found:
“Pierre SLUGGED me. He’s given me a black eye. But things are going to be okay. He doesn’t mind my being a photographer.
Actually, I was quite pleased. It was the first time in a very long while that I’d been able to get a response out of Pierre. He got all his hostility out, and he hasn’t shown me so much attention in years!
It showed me he really loved me. In a strange way it’s made us closer … I guess I felt this was his way of showing that he cared. Pierre must have felt closer to me too, because that night he was very “macho.” ”
Thx. I remember reading this years ago but could not refind it on the interweb anywhere. It used to be a relatively easy find. Definitely some scrubbing going on as history is being rewritten.
MJ and John, I remember reading it in the Globe and Mail, at the time back then as a researcher living in Ottawa. It’s true, but the Liberal establishment has scrubbed it from our historical memory.
Yes, I do recall that sad story too. PET was a mean person.
What an unhappy family he had. It doesn’t take much for a story to disappear or be missed, sometimes in only 1 day.
It appears Trudeau and Sophie are in legal trouble. Anyone want to speculate as to what this might be about?
I would have thought that this would’ve had many more comments than it did. Perhaps some of you missed it? I still can’t get over this, it’s big, if true.
What could this be about and who placed the request? Any comments?
Much as I would like to believe this, I find it stretches the credibility. If it were true, then the Government is guilty of a huge cover-up, and as history has shown, the cover-up is usually worse than the original crime. Something like this would destroy the LPC, surely? Their best bet would be to dump Trudeau immediately, put Thunder Thighs in the PMO and go into full damage control.
Having said that, it sure looks odd, and it would handily explain his apparent sequestering in Rideau Cottage.
Maybe this is so huge that nobody wants to believe it.
I just watched that u-tube.
For certain Justin has something wrapped around his left ankle…And Im sure its not some “Love baubble” from Sophie. It DEFINiTELY looks like an ankle Bracelet.
As well the “Love” Panda thing while not forgetting the symbol used for his Personal Trust – Foundation either….
God I wish this all could be confirmed.
My “dislike” for that sack of Treasonous filth knows no bounds.
I recently had a tree taken down in the front yard of the house I inherited. One of the crew had a F*** Trudeau sticker on his hardhat. I told the young chap that I had similar sympathies but I wasn’t so polite. He and his buddies laughed because we all thought the same way.
It just occurred to me that Prinz Dummkopf’s “house arrest” might be the result of an internal palace coup. He’s being forced to behave himself or else.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Moby Freeland would have been behind it, using his recent misdeeds as an excuse for her to have him kicked out of the way so that she can take over. It’s quite clear that she sees herself as the inevitable heiress apparent.
As for Soapy, she’s being kept on a short leash as well, lest she bolt and, worse, spill the beans.
There is definitely something rotten in the state of Denmark.
The Dear Leader is into New Age fads. Remember when he had a “cupping” treatment not too long ago? He believes that the ankle bracelet emits a force field to protect him from the Wuh Flu.

Somebody once told me it was a line from a Bogey movie. I dunno maybe?
Speaking of bizarre, that woman was a groupie to use a two syllable word instead of the preferred single syllable. She engaged in indefensible behavior that was defended by our betters on both sides of the 49th.
While criminals lord it over Chinada Province, President Trump returns them to their master in hell.
This morning federal officials finally executed a murderer in an Indiana prison, the first federal execution since 2003, and, God willing President Trump’s re-election, not the last.
Maybe if globalists figure out they too can swing from a rope, they’ll think twice about trying to overthrow elected American governments.
I demand that governments STOP giving my money to shysters of any color peddling their crappy Canadian Content CRAP!
If black people in the entertainment business want to produce lots of programming, pull out their wallets like other people do. Produce shows people will pay to see or sponsor. It’s the wild west – do whatever the hell you want other than forcing others to put money into shit they can’t sell. I don’t think that this comes as a surprise but a lot of whites would rather have a root canal that be forced to absorb black culture.
Amen. They’ve established a beachhead on the Hallmark channel where I retire for mindless peace. I have with open mind and heart attempted to watch these shows. No can do. I’m caucasian. Make your own shows.

Used to live in a house in Pacifica that sat right on the fault. The view was great but the tremors were unsettling. The worst were the uplifts or bucking, not sure of the technical term.
Sometimes the ground would buck under the house knocking beds out of position. Luckily, the house was very poorly built and just shimmied along with the ground.
I much prefer tornadoes in the Plains and hurricanes now in Florida. There are more opportunities to run for the hills.
Fox News reports that China Joe Biden used a quote from Mao during a fundraiser.
In other news, human trials of a Wuhan flu vaccine are beginning in Quebec City, while the US border will remain closed till at least August 21.
If there’s a second outbreak in Quebec, of course, they’ll still blame American truckers, not their quack vaccine.
Coronaviruses are the vaccine developers’ despair. The vaccine will never happen. Attempts to develop them for animals killed more animals than they saved.
That’s why workshy government workers are insisting on a vaccine before everything re-opens. They’ve come to enjoy sitting home drinking during the day and want their staycation to go on as long as possible.
The boys in quebekkie wont like it when they have to stay home this winter. The people in Florida will tho.
The Tabarnacos will just go to Cuba or Hispaniola, where the women and men of easy virtue are much cheaper anyway.
Trudeau the Apologist.
If he isn’t apologizing for what went down in another era he’s apologizing for his own actions, after he gets caught and cannot wash it away. Amounts to the same thing as washing it away, nothing comes of it, he remains in his post.
Best of all is when he apologizes for us Canadians being rayciss ba$tards tho’.

PS. If former mayor Villegarosa and current mayor Garcetti weren’t getting a taste I’ll eat your hat.
Erin O’Toole has announced many policy positions, the large majority of which can actually be described as conservative. In fact, he seems to be stealing some from Max. Here is the latest:
“I’ve long spoken out against cancel culture and as Prime Minister I will take real action to:
• Require universities to enact policies protecting free speech on campus based on the principles in the University of Chicago Statement on Principles of Free Expression as a condition of eligibility for federal funding, and
• Require the Parliamentary Press Gallery to publish objective criteria for admitting journalists, so as to ensure that conservative and online journalists are not prevented from covering Parliament, and provide full recognition and equal access to the Independent Press Gallery of Canada. ”
If you haven’t read the University of Chicago’s principles of free speech on campus, they are worth a look. They may be the gold standard in that regard:
“In a word, the University’s fundamental commitment is to the principle that debate or deliberation may not be suppressed because the ideas put forth are thought by some or even by most members of the University community to be offensive, unwise, immoral, or wrong-headed. It is for the individual members of the University community, not for the University as an institution, to make those judgments for themselves, and to act on those judgments not by seeking to suppress speech, but by openly and vigorously contesting the ideas that they oppose.”
I think O’Toole was a latecomer to the small-c conservative bandwagon, and only got on board when it became fashionable. He talks a big populist-conservative talk but, if elected leader, within 2 weeks I bet he’ll be backing off on some of his positions and marching in Gay Pride parades like the rest of them.
Wow anybody see the ctv national with Lisa LaPhlegm?
She’s gone full on granny. Got the same wig but this time it’s 50 shades of grey….
Look for the finger wagging and lecturing to intensify.
Her side kick Annie Bergeron Criag Oliver will probably follow suit after she gets out of therapy- following the put down Scheer handed her ha.
Somebody pass this on to the CBC.
From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia
Hi Yanks and Canucks , I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under.
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.
The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,
Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria…..alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.(Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in ‘successfully ridding Australian society of guns….’
You won’t see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.
The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.
What to add?…
America never had a gun problem. It had a Negro problem, foisted upon it 400 years ago by plantation owners who simply refused to pay white men a wage at which it would be worth a free man’s while to do farm work for someone else, and which America’s ruling class has simply refused to address in any meaningful way.
Australia was spared a similar problem until Canberra abandoned the White Australia policy.
I know John Howard started all this years back. Was this another “conservative” policy. I hadn’t read about it anywhere. Why would Australians turn in their guns? The limp-wristed New Zealanders didn’t.
Blackie’s bought and paid for Globe and Mail rants today that Trump’s racism is destroying America.

Cheifo notes 40 days of rain in China.
I have been scrolling around the web seeking coverage of the Chinese flooding,it is bad and may get really bad,as July and August are traditionally the rainy season.
This should be huge news for North American Farmers as the food shortages may be awful, with failed crops and flood damaged reserves just the beginning.
The Fake Newz of Canada is appalling, they can quote CNN ‘s talking points word for word, but the developing catastrophe in China?
Oh right Global Warming…

14 juillet is as good a time as any to remind SDA readers that all bad ideas come from France, liberalism and socialism included.
For generations, the French Canadians thanked God that they were spared the atrocities of the French revolution. Of course, they never thanked the English.
Liberty, Equality, Fraternity…. a legacy of the Age of Enlightenment, the motto “Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité” first appeared during the French Revolution.

If you’re going to perform La Marseillaise, do it with style! Nothing beats the arrangement by the great Hector Berlioz:

Make sure you crank up the volume and get those rafters rattling! After all, this is by the composer of the opera Les Troyens.
How about this by Berlioz, the final scene of Act I of Les Troyens:

I have a copy of the Grammy-winning recording by l’Orchestre Symphonique du Montreal, directed by Charles Dutoit, which was released in the early 1990s.

This muse of Berlioz’s is memorable:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolyne_zu_Sayn-Wittgenstein
Thanks. I didn’t know that about him.

If only Scheer could have worked out…
If not for our first past the post system the conservatives won the majority of the vote.
Does this look like a Conservative’s column?
https://nationalpost.com/opinion/matt-gurney-trudeau-shows-that-better-damage-control-was-always-possible/wcm/9a2f9072-b5fc-47b6-9c1a-1229ed68ac7d/

Platform:
Dictator Trudeau would have to wait 3 more years before calling an election. It is not his call prior to that. It’s the law:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/bill-setting-federal-elections-every-4-years-about-to-become-law-1.669836
Fear and division
https://twitter.com/StephenPunwasi/status/1282835870886830086?s=20
TLDR;

Pierre must have felt closer to me too, because that night he was very “macho.” ”
https://sassywire.wordpress.com/2019/03/12/pierre-trudeau-was-a-wife-beater/

Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,
Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;
Panic! PANIC!! PANIC!!! The plague will get worse! We are all doomed! The end of the world is at hand….. because the WHO says so:

Cheifo notes 40 days of rain in China.
I have been scrolling around the web seeking coverage of the Chinese flooding,it is bad and may get really bad,as July and August are traditionally the rainy season.
This should be huge news for North American Farmers as the food shortages may be awful, with failed crops and flood damaged reserves just the beginning.
The Fake Newz of Canada is appalling, they can quote CNN ‘s talking points word for word, but the developing catastrophe in China?
Oh right Global Warming…
