My bookshelves contain many of the foundational classics of Western Civilization — y’know, the books that distill a lifetime of logic, reflection and analysis into a few hundred pages, so that later generations didn’t have to burn their lifetimes having to re-discover these ideas, but could instead stand on the shoulders of giants.
Classics are selected as classics by readers … readers who discern TRUTH, JUSTICE, and MEANING from unique works of geniuses. A brilliant culture sprang from those pages … a culture so successful and remarkable that the ONLY ‘answer’ to that culture is … destruction. Attack, and destruction. The so called intelligentsia of our contemporary era are bomb-makers. Cultural Terrorists whose only “contribution” is to … ‘tear it all down maaaan’.

When I was a senior in HS … one of the coolest kids in my class, a big stud of an athlete who was always popular … and whose father was the little league coach of my All-Star Little League Team … a real classic suburban kid who had it all. Well, “Chris” showed up to school one day holding a hardcover copy of “The Prison Letters of George Jackson”. He explained how the Police had set up and framed George Jackson, who was a legitimate hero for the Black Man. That we white suburbanites needed to join the black man in his struggle against a racist society.
The year was 1974. “Chris” lived in the most pricey neighborhood in town. His father was a high paid executive for Sherwin Williams Paint … working near the famous Emeryville neon sign blaring an animated neon shower of lights reading … “cover the earth” … in paint. “Chris” had adopted radical chic … at age 17.
As I look out at the faces of these “protest” crowds … I see a sea of “Chris’s” and “Christines”. Well dressed in radical chic clothing, washed, squeaky clean, good looking well heeled white kids. Kids whose parents auto-pay their rent every month. Kids who have ditched their boring suburban lives for a moment of “struggle”. They’ll eventually get bored … and get their jobs at Apple and Fackebook, and elsewhere in the oppressive corporate directorates. But will keep the selfies of their moment spent carrrrrring about the black man. And continue to vote their white guilt in election after election. Until … they quietly vote for Trump. Again. As they realize the game has spun too far out of control.

I have in excess of a 1000 books. They’re everywhere…..arrrrugh.
Tons of stuff on early Canada. The fur trade, the north, HBC and the start of the cattle industry. Much of this is US as well. The early explorers made comment on the first inhabitants. The African explorers/traders/missionaries also described what they saw. I’ve got and reads lots of it.
Should we erase history because it doesn’t fit today’s narrative? Has the clash of the tribes reached it’s zenith and we all must become one with a single common purpose? I think not.
Millions of generations of DNA is deeply imbeded in each of us. We are tribal people and at root we only trust those of our own tribe. Maybe at some point in the far off future when the peoples of planet Earth are all some shade of brown we will have forgotten where we came from, but until we get there the struggle continues.
